I only have one ramp at the minute, mainly due to only shifting bikes. I will get some more ramps though.

thats very generous of you! I would certainly have no problems paying for that sort of work, the thought certainly did cross my mind as she went up to @Saabnut's should I see about booking it in with you for some bit of bodywork TLC, Since when in Scotland do as the Scots do etc, but I understand that you have quite the backlog of stuff and I would not want to be a burden on you,

there is also the slight personal aspect of it if thats the right word?, in that I know that it will not be an over night thing, Glasgow was not built in a day etc, to continue the miss-spoken analogies :) I know it will take time, however its been over 5 years now since I got REV, at some point sooner rather then late now, I would like to have her home to enjoy about on the open* road, so my previous thought have been, have her brought home as is, enjoy her for a bit at long last, and then send her away for some TLC at a later date, but then again there is the fact as above she is currently in a prime position right now to receive TLC from you, so I am quite conflicted right now LOL but to that end I will be turning 25 very soon and I will have had my licence for more then 3 years pretty soon also, so I wonder if that might make getting decommissioned taxi insurance any easier? I still have an eye to getting a black cab for mobility scooter transport etc and I suppose I could bomb around in a taxi while REV gets a fresh coat of paint :)

If experience has taught me anything - it’s just to crack the fuck on. Leaving it up there for titivating is foolish - you’ll not see it until next year and (here’s the key bit) there is ALWAYS something an old relic needs. Always. 

100% of my contributions to this thread are ignored (to the point I’m unsure whether it’s just a thread of endless ignorance and naivety) but you really should just get the keys, get the car* and get on with it.

It’s still a terribly bad idea, but there’s no point waiting until the 12th of never.

I'd leave paint for a while,it's still fairly original,won't rust,and you won't worry about scratching it.its probably not been cut and waxed for decades,if at all,which would help

Another thing to add @LightBulbFun please please get some kind of tracker installed, even just an air tag hidden under the dash, if owning very small strange cars that easily fit into vans has taught me anything it’s that people will try to steal them, it was a constant worry for me, to the point with my last Invacar where I wouldn’t let it out of my sight and kept it covered at home on my hidden driveway, and that was the relatively peaceful city of Chichester, I couldn’t imagine what it’d be like in the centre of London where god knows how many motorbike and cars thefts happen daily

 

if someone wants it they’ll take it but at least with a tracker you’ll see where it’s headed

I do what I can hence being self employed. I work to my strengths and I enjoy driving. No one would employ me as a driver if I had a day or 2 minimum a week off but I can make my own hours and have a good friend if I need the help.  Yes my wife isn't too well,dog has gone to sleep with cancer a few weeks back and beo in law is stage 4 cancer at 50 years old. Life is shit but as I said I do what I can.  I can't change it.

thank you :) that is most kind! I really appreciate it! I think I will indeed go with @Saabnut's plan of let him take it to the FoD if he is able to, and then once its at the FoD take things from there :) the chap who took REV From the FoD up to Adam's all those years back has kindly said that he may be able to take it from the FoD to London on the last weekend of September, so most thankfully I have some potential options/a plan forming :) obviously nothing is set in stone atm, maybe @Saabnut will finally get sick of all the midges and disappear off to France permanently :mrgreen: so I am still happy to hear what other people may do/their ideas, can never have too many options or ideas!

Thank you! its awesome to know I can call upon you if required, I very much appreciate the thought of free transport but I have no problems paying a fair rate I would gladly do so especially if it meant I was supporting another fellow shitter :)

I can't do this for free as much as I'd like to. Insurance etc is too expensive while I'm starting out. If I know where from and to I can get a quote up for you. I'm away on the 16th till the 21st of September though.

How are you going to price a job like this? Will you charge on a mileage basis or reasonable expenses plus something like £20 an hour labour?

I tend to go on mileage to cover my expenses. Easier than trying to explain to some people why my rates are what they are. I do have to modify it slightly if the end point is a good distance from home as I don't get back loads being a 1-to-1 basis.

I generally price distance jobs on how much do I want to make out of it basis.

Newark to Oxfordshire will be a 1 day. Scotland to Oxfordshire will be a 2 day but I'm passing my house anyway so no brass or bed required 🤣

Here you go LBF, the DVLA account info for my scooter.

Precious little on there other than the date of manufacture, which is stated as 31/12/83. That would make it an A prefix plates rather than the Y suffix they gave it.

The paper V5 just states "declared manufactured in 1983 in special notes.

I guess it's like I thought, if a year rather than a specific date is given on the dating certificate they give it the oldest possible plate, but the youngest date of manufacture for everything else.

very interesting! I do still wonder if they selected the initial Y reg going by the 01/01/83 that was put down for the pre-registration MOT? it would be interesting to see if you where to transfer the registration off the scooter, would it then get an A prefix?

I have heard of the odd vehicle going up a suffix/prefix like that, going from a 52 plate to an 03 plate etc, and I do wonder if that might be because of this "if no day/month data, default to 31st Dec of the year" but what I dont understand is for vehicles that where registered new in the UK etc, why that date is not just defaulted to the date of first registration,

granted thats not the most absurd thing I have seen, I have come across the odd vehicle that has been down as manufactured years *after* its date of first registration! im surprised the system even allows this in the first place, never mind the fact no one has ever looked at the record and questioned it!

(as an aside its interesting to see that the "date acquired" is just the date of first registration with the DVLA, rather then when you actually got it)

what weight is rev, just thinking hire a transit dropside crewcab in aberdeen, load rev, take to lbf, drop van and fly home. rev would need msnual handling on and off

This is going to need a proper trailer. Collectively I am sure we have the kit. What's the final venue south? - it really needs to be off the road and under cover but totally accessible for runs if that is possible.
