Evening all, new member here, been lurking for a while and decided to join up - long suffering owner of Renaults and assorted Autoshite, brought here Mr_Bo11ox's thread and finding inspiration! Currently longing after a BL / Austin / Rover car, perhaps an 800 or a 75 / ZT but an Alfa is also tempting - V6 mmmm.

It would mean getting rid of a Megane with a screwed slave cylinder that I can't find the motivation to do, Focus 1 1.6 working and MOT'd and a Peugeot 206 GTI working but off the road.

Currently tootling around in a Megane 2 1.9 DCI for added paranoia and turdbo related nervousness. Had a few 2 Laguna mk2 a 2.0 petrol and a 1.9 DCI, guess I'm looking for that hallowed working Laguna but it's had to be put on hold (oh look there's a 2.0 turbo initiale on Autotrader - save me from myself.)

Anyway, be working on the DCI PCV and cleaning the EGR  this weekend between the snow and thunderstorms!

Good afternoon

Allow myself to introduce..myself

I have been also been a part time lurker for a while and decided it was time I signed up so that even more company time can be expended on the internet.  And hopefully I may even be able to contribute something

I used to have what I considered the ultimate bangernomics mobile, a Y reg Mondeo 2.5 Ghia X Estate, I picked it up off a car forum a used to frequent, a guys father-in-law who had owned it since new had just got his new car so wanted rid quickly and had it up for £200.  I snapped it up straight away, sight unseen (photos on the ad were from when it was new!) and drove 150 miles to Gatwick to collect, expecting the worst.

I could barely believe my eyes, it was immaculate!  200k miles on the clock but every stamp in the book, 12 months ticket and even half a tank of fuel, it had been  maintained regardless of cost, I honestly felt like I was mugging the guy. Unfortunately after 40k happy and relatively trouble free miles, a friend of mine wrote it off while borrowing it and that was the end of that.

More recently its been replaced by an M reg Granada 24V "Cosworth", This was, and is, a bit of a meet your heroes moment, I started out looking for a Jag S or X type, but this came up and I thought yeah, I quite fancy that.  It was cheap, compared to others around at the time, but has 220k miles on the clock, and i'm starting to think that while 200k wasn't a problem for a meticulously maintained Mondeo, it may be near the end of the road for a 22 year old Granada.

Anyway at £1500 possibly not "autoshite" money, but it is auto, and it is shite so I am counting it.

Autoshite isn't really bangernomics though there are people here who are doing that, but is about running an unusual or overlooked car. Some members here have cars which have cost them a fortune in parts and work!! :)

My particular 'niche' here (running an 8yr old) is my exploits finding non-stealer alternative parts for a SAVVY - parts are quite often 'backorder to Malaysia = 3month lead' which is GR9 for a MOT failure bottom balljoint.... just use a Nova bbj ;)

Hi all, first visited this site when a friend of mine shared some nostalgic photos thread and have been lurking about for a while since.  Having a few beers, grew a pair and decided to join my first forum ever.  Never posted online before and rarely re-read whatever I type so not sure what I contribute will be any value.

Living in Singapore for the past 6 years where cars are 'scrapped' at 10 years and a 2 year old Golf GTI costs you 65 grand.

We do get some GASH motors coming down from Malaysia and seeing them wobbling down the roads here always make me smile - takes me back to my early years on the Isle of Sheppey where I learnt to drive in my granddad's 4 speed D-reg Ford pickup with unsecured Calor Gas bottles and bits of caravan smashing around in the back.

Really enjoy reading the threads on here, makes me very homesick and you all help me keep a toe in reality.

Cheers!

Welcome Millsy. I lost my forum cherry here too, it's less painful than you think.

This is screaming 'spotted thread' at me.

Also, don't worry about 'not sure what I contribute will be any value'. It's never stopped me.

I might as well introduce myself now; I am Brodders and much like Millsy above me, I have never signed up to a forum before.

I have been lurking around for a while without an account, lurking for less time with an account and only introducing myself now whilst I still have the plums to do so.

Currently driving around in a 39k mile Rover 25 which I picked up not too long ago, which may not be grade A shite, but hopefully will cut some mustard around here.

Before the forum went off/onto FB?.. I was on SAVOC.NET and the guys round your way would get pulled over for running a non-OE tailpipe... Fascists, putting it kindly ;)

They would talk of '.. taking the causeway, into ML for servicing as it was much cheaper..'

My forum handle was 'CauSAVOC'- the locals couldn't work it out lol

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum though not to the whole concept of autoshite.  I live in the north of England and I like old ropey cars, of which i have two, bleepy machine made music, furry creatures and cheese.  It's nice to make your joint acquaintance.  Here's my stable of old junk.

Judging by those trims I would say your 19 is a phase 1 TSE model? Great to see it, always liked those

Hello.

I'm a regular on here, but needed a 'handle' more appropriatte for our 'adventure'  2016 Bangers For BEN.

Shwmae, neighbour!  Nice Micra, haven't it noticed around (yet) which shows how crap my spotting skills are.

Hi, Joined today after trawling the web looking for Allegro spares for a mate of mine. Looks promising to find out where there are possible sources in scrap yards. Currently looking for plastic steering column surround top and bottom unit that covers the control stalks to replace his broken item. Any leads very welcome

That K10 has Corsa B steels doesn't it? Looks great for them.

colb?

Yep, this is a ph1 TSE from 1990.  No PAS and manual choke but (amazingly still working) remote central locking.  First owner kept it 21 years, second one I bought it from in 2014.  It's a wonderful old thing and it's for life.  Not just for Xmas.

Well, um, I'm not sure really (looks at floor) the engine was made in Spain, the car was built in France and it was designed by an Italian?

Hello

New member alert

I'm not 100% on what the craik is but I do have a lot of old bangers and a lot of old shite, probably talk it to.

My most recent purchase is a 1987 diesel estate Peugeot 305. Not sure why!!
