Don't visibly react, hopefully the perpetrator will get bored and stop.

My fear is if they don't get bores they will damage your cars in an effort to get a reaction. I would keep the notes with the dates you found them, in case it does escalate. If it was me, if you get any more I would report them to the police, just in case.

Shame to start your Autoshite introduction with such a sad subject when you have plenty of interesting cars, tell the boys and girls what you have, show them some pictures and tell them what you are doing with them.

Yes I know GoGently and we don't live very far apart, I first noticed one of his Citroen's parked in a car park and left a (Citroen Love) note so he called me for a chat. Then in my view he sold his best Citroen to me!

Hi I'm Paul another shitehead lol, I live by the sea and drive for a large well known supermarket where they claim every little helps. Unless you work for them and then (very little helps) lol. Anyway busy keeping my old mk3 transit camper on the road, loving this forum and hello to everyone,

Suppose I'd best say m'ello!

I'm a veteran purveyor of all things 4-wheeled and shite beyond shite. Occasionally, I have moments of clarity, but they are few and far between...

Many will probably recognise my moniker and avatar, despite finding most forums tedious and bizzare places these days, it's the bizzare that refuses to release me from their clutches.

My fleet has all but evaporated over the past year or so, all that remains is the BX 16V in bits, the X300 and the wifes "god hates me" Kalos. Oh and the half-converted Mk5 transit camper (in need of MIG... lots of MIG)...

Always on the lookout for cheap garage fillers, for the first time in a long time, I have lots of space and little cash. Sods law.

Anyways, Salut! from Pastyland.

Hi All,

I've just signed up, having read about the forum for a while. I've run Imps for as long as I can remember (and love 'em) and the lovely wife as a very early mk1 Mini (Austin Seven) which I restored for her as a wedding present. The Mini is actually pretty nice to drive, especially considering it only has the standard 850cc in it.

I'm after a LHD French wagon, which is what got me scouring this forum. I've recently found a convertible Samba which has caught my attention but i'm still nosing around to see what is out there. I don't know why but the Samba is suddenly looking so bad that it's kind of good.... Just got to convince the current owner that he really wants me to have it for very little Euro....

Well the wife did say whatever we ended up with she wanted to be able to take the top down for some summer driving around France, so she can't complain!

Welcome dinglem

That sounds familiar, were your cars magazine featured at some point?

Yes mate - that's the one. My Imp Van was in RetroCars a while back, and the Mini has also been in one of the Mini mags, with a write up on the wedding surprise resto. I have posted pics of the Imps in one of the Imp threads on here (about Linwood) and have also added some Mini pics on the 'Is It Easier Being With A Woman Who Likes Cars?' thread. If you've read the mags then you will know those cars I should imagine.

Hello, people who enjoy reading and writing about bad cars on the internet.  I have this bad car - It's most basic rear engined 1980's Skoda they made, the mighty* 105s.

"Only got a heated rear screen to keep your hands warm when you push it mate, LOL"' - nope. This is not one of those fancy 80's Skodas, no heated rear screen.  No radio. Only one wing mirror from the factory.  40hp, four forward gears. 0-60 eventually.

They knew about how to design a user friendly car back in the day.  Choke located on the floor where it can fall no further.  To get to the engine you have to open the rear passenger door and pull the boot release (which is hidden inside the closed rear door, a most convenient location).  You will do this often, for after the car has been sat a while you'll find yourself having to open two doors and the boot, then lean right down inside to the bottom of the engine bay to manually pump fuel into the carb before you've got chance of starting it.

That Skoda looks lovely, are the purple seats original as that is screaming decadence to me.

Posted

And your other car is an RX8. Brave!

That Skoda is an object of desire for sure.

Posted

Yeah the tasteful purple seats are indeed not the originals, but from the fancier (heated rear screen, radio AND 5 forward gears) Rapid model - originally it would have had much more staid and sensible black and white jobbies.  The RX8 is a sensible and practical family car, efficient use of space internally - children are small and so are the back seats and doors...

Hello all, been lurking a while and finally decided to sign up, sadly owning two moderns (mk1 z4 and a mk2 Focus) so not quite shite enough but I will work hard to remedy that soon!

Posted

Good afternoon.

I've been lurking for a couple of weeks and have decided that this is my sort of place.

I have owned a multitude of extremely mundane vehicles over the last 15 years or so- Mk1 Punto that blew its head gasket,ZX na Diesel that snapped its cambelt, KA that disintegrated beneath me as well as a few other forgettable economy spec runabouts.

Current vehicle is a K11 1.0 Micra with a slightly binding brake caliper and knocking drop link.

Like many others on here I appear to be living the dream.

We just need a newbie with a name crudely referring to lady parts or VAG (for a tenuous link) to make it a full house of below the waist inappropriateness :)

Re: Mentally-unhinged Charles Wang-Cheddar - the missus had a K11 1.3 a few years back, brilliant revvy little engine and its lack of grip made it fun to drive, I genuinely miss it. Was written off just before the tolls at Dartford, not a straight panel left.

Thanks folks. Yeah I'm quite fond of the Micra. Takes everything I can throw at it. Regularly flog it up to the West Mids from the South Coast without issue. Doubt there's much out there cheaper to run

Hi,

Been reading for a while, followed the Harris 75 revival with interest and was amazed by the Princess build.

What amazed me was whilst looking through the pictures when it first went to a show and everybody had signed the car, amongst the scribbles was my Sons name, he doesnt remember going though.

The current garage consists of

A Ford Galaxy 2.3, had since new, now in service after MOT territory and hope I've cured its tendancy to throw bolts through the gearbox case.

A Rover SD1 2300, bought it just over a year old, my first car, needs everything except welding.

A 1956 Daf 6x6, needs a valve seat

Hi all,

My name is Justin and I'm a lurker from across the pond.  I am restoring a Volvo 122 S Estate that I found in a barn, and a surprisingly decent Mercedes W114 280 Sedan that I bought for less than scrap.  Links to my restoration blogs are in my signature.

Decided to join up on a whim because I have a massive soft spot for unremarkable, ageing cars.

Currently have a '04 BMW 320d with 192k on the clock, which after doing 92k of that myself is soon to be punted for something more interesting and not diesel.

I just bought an sheddy (as in, part of its purpose is as a shed) ex '08 AA Vivaro which I'm falling in love with as rapidly as I'm replacing parts in an attempt to stop the front end rattling.

Previously I've had some much loved e36 325tds's, ZX TDs, a 406, 309 and a Triumph Toledo amongst some other crap.

Welcome!

I did a sharp intake of breath as I checked the number plate to see if that was my dad's old Orion. Same spec, same colour, same age, F235HCD. Will try to find photos. He had it from new for about 4 years, it replaced a 1984 Ford Orion Ghia. My Dad didn't have much interest or imagination in the 80's when it came to cars.

Hello all

Stumbled across this site by accident while looking for tips on a particular car while in my usual obsession with ropey old cars... I didn't realise that there were other like minded people who like cars that others would reject and not seemly be like everyone else and put down £xxx p/m on finance deal for a spanking new boringly reliable box thing...!

Currently in my garage is a rather non-shed like 57 reg Civic (well I need a safe, reliable car to keep the fiancée happy...) and at the moment a 2002 Astra Mk4 1.6. The Astra was acquired from the fiancee's grandad as a) to get him off the road, B) sold fiancee's beloved MX5 MK3 to help fund a house purchase... Despise the thing. Actually surprised me how good handling it is... Then 62k on the clock and garaged for the last 10 years, the rubbery bits haven't worn too badly. Even the gearbox is still pretty tight! In the last 8 months of ownership I have had to replace 2 rear shocks, radiator, thermostat, one rear spring, one front spring, 2 rear tyres (after 13 years on the car they were pretty perished...). But it did get through its last MOT with zero advisories 8)

However now that is reliable and, as the other half says, damn ugly, I've been doing the fatal thing of browsing through gumtree at <£500 cars. Found a rather ropey, high mileage Saab with no MOT going cheap that I'm really rather tempted by... :-D

500th post! Christ.

4 months in, average of 125 posts a month! I've posted on all sorts of forums over the years and got high post counts, but never this many soon! I guess that makes me an addict...

To add to my long list of cars I have just bought this which really must qualify to be on here although not entirely sure.

_57_zpsy9vdvvex.jpg

It was a trade in at a localish garage and I just had to have it as it was such a sad case. Not only did it come with a running fault and no brakes it also had a very hairy interior. If this sort of thing is allowed on here I will add some before and during the clean up photos for others amusement.

Having read a bit more on here I don't think this is really the best place for this, it's one of those in-between cars. Not interesting enough to be on a model specific forum and too new to be interesting.

I own other cars but they are all waiting to be fixed at the moment. My daily driver is a Volvo 940 and my next to do project is a Mini Scamp. My Triumph 2000 is waiting for some new wings and my 4x4 Transit needs a lot of welding before it will be drivable again.

Too much stuff and not enough time, it will all get done eventually !
