artdjones Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Modern turbo diesels take an age to warm up.Maybe 4 or 5 miles if not stuck in traffic.
gm Posted July 14, 2018 Author Posted July 14, 2018 It turns out that the tyres on this are the wrong size - rather than spending loads on a new set, I did the sensible thing and bought myself a set of steelies with winter tyres on. They are a bit scruffy but the tyres have plenty of tread and the set cost not much more than a single new tyre would have. A quick rub down and a couple of coats of wheel silver And fitted - looks pretty smart No more tyres rubbing on the arch liners and a comfier ride Tickman, Lacquer Peel, Carlosfandango and 6 others 9
gm Posted September 3, 2018 Author Posted September 3, 2018 The Mot is due next week so I stuck it in today to see what is needed : I was expecting at least one balljoint, annoyingly they are part of the lower arm and not replaceable separately. I don't have time to fanny around waiting for parts so will have to let the garage do them. The damaged tyre is frustrating, I bought the winter wheels to avoid replacing two of the summer tyres that are worn down. I've dropped off the two good summer wheels at the garage, they can fit them and get a pass. Might look a bit odd with steelies on the front and alloys on the rear but I shan't lose sleep The advisories can bugger off. Here's to another 12 months and a step closer to 200,000 miles Lacquer Peel, The Moog and BeEP 3
Tickman Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Not a bad result there.I didn't read the advisories as they don't count gm 1
gm Posted September 4, 2018 Author Posted September 4, 2018 Well I've got it back from the garage, but without the all important mot The wishbones they had ordered were the wrong type and the only place they can source the right type is direct from audi which is NOT going to happen. However, a quick scan of eBay suggests I can get the right ones so we're not completely bollocksed just yet. I have neither the time nor inclination to fit the buggers myself so it may be going back to the garage next week. pain.in.the.arse.
Marm Toastsmith Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 Lots of advisories on that - seems like a bit of a stickler your MOT tester... or is it the just new test (in which case should I be worried?) Anyway, good luck. On a more positive note, nice A2. I've fancied one for ages, an unusual piece of clever, rational German design. Shame they never did an automatic, hence the mrs says no.
chompy_snake Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 The A2 is great .... Especially when you have the wiper on flat out in poor weather when stationary. They have aged extremely well I think
gm Posted September 11, 2018 Author Posted September 11, 2018 That'll be a PASS then The lads at the garage were asking about the AS stickers, they seemed puzzled / amused in equal measure when I explained Is it the mr2 or Elise that has 15" on the front and 16" wheels on the rear ? I can haz sportz car look dome, Tickman, oldcars and 6 others 9
gm Posted October 1, 2018 Author Posted October 1, 2018 Right then lads (and lasses), last weekend I was a jammy get and won this smashing little puglet off mr cavcraft with lucky number 36. And I have no need for two smoll threecylinderz on the drive. So, yes, you've guessed it, it's ROFFLE TIME !!1!1!1! Ten of your earth pounds a ticket, winner takes the funny looking green car home with them tonight* Current status is it has a full year of mot and is fitted with the 16" alloys, mileage is big at 183,247 but it still drives well and serves up omgmpg. I'll be keeping my fancy-dan alpine stereo but will refit the rather complicated blaupunkt unit that it came with. With two new wishbones fitted for the test, it should be silent as a fish but it still clonks and bonks a bit over the knackered Edinburgh streets, I blame the heavy 16" wheels. Tax is cheap, only £30 Location : Falkirk - we've got a wheel, you know ? (the official* town slogan) Smoll and far away (the house is also for sale if you're really keen ?) Car wash fresh If you are daft enough to want to buy this outright, feel free to shove 59x brown notes into my inbox and I'll tell you where I've hidden the keys. Cheers all, and good luck roffle fans jumpingjehovahs, The Moog, Tickman and 4 others 7

Fat_Pirate Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 I hate everything about this. 2 randoms. gm 1
gm Posted October 1, 2018 Author Posted October 1, 2018 a couple of things I forgot to mention above - it makes a funny sort of eroogh! noise when you start the engine, I presume something to do with the started motor, it starts first time, every time but has always made this curious little sound. the coolant* needs a bit of a top up every few weeks, it's probably a bit dilute by now, I was planning to flush and fix it before winter. you all still good for tickets ?
drivewaymyway Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 These are now on my radar for when I want a cheap to run smoll car at some indeterminate point in the future. The interior on this one is interesting. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201804245880973 black a2.jpg black a2 interior.jpg I quite like this one, but it's a Cat D. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201803244884986 blue a2.jpg blue a2 interior.jpg They really did make them in some interesting colour combinations! Very un-Audi! Prices for them seem to be all over the place though: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201805126434732 Exact same interior cloth as a MKiv Golf I had and still miss...
skattrd Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 #39 for me please, I'm with M'coli, the only modern Audi I like gm 1
