What the fuck am I even doing?

Just think in a little over a year you can have a million mile fleet with just two cars.

What the fuck am I even doing?

Raging against the dying of the light.  We came from dust, we will return to dust, most of life is suffering.  None of this matters.  But at least you might have some tales to tell in the autoshite old people's home for the terminally deluded.

This looks like a suitable entry in the 2040 museum of the internal combustion engine.

Bringing it to Shitefest, yeah?

Even if the engine has completely grenaded, that engine bay looks very open, surely getting a replacement in there wouldn't be beyond the wits of man.

Stellar forumming from BI. My hat is tipped in your direction

I have no idea how much to bid on this. I’m minded to do it during the live auction tomorrow rather than show my hand.

It’s worth bugger all really - so I need to be reasonably sensible. Fingers crossed.

£200.

Finding another usable engine might be tricky though. Chances are at that mileage all sorts of funny stuff will be worn like the gearbox or the diff.

Hopefully you'll not end up in a bidding war with some idiot that thinks he'll be getting 5 large for it.

At least with Copart there's no chance of them bumming a deposit off you and coming back with some tale about Insignia gearboxes.

I was thinking somewhere around £2-300 bearing in mind there’s a tax to pay too.

Here's the old ebay advert from last August, it was a Cat D in 1999 and known faults were:

• Ignition barrel sticks a little bit spare in the boot.
• slight hesitation when cold but fine once warmed up.
• Clutch can also feel aggressive at times.

If my clutch ever gets aggressive I'm taking it behind the pub for a straightener. I'm too old to be dealing with a clutch that's up its own arse.

This car must be returned to its correct livery and well endowed taxi light.

I "may" have an old Digitax meter head knocking around somewhere that I'd be happy to donate. Although I doubt it'll work with any existing transducer fitted it'll fill the hole where ones been fitted in the past.

Don't be going daft to keep a bunch of knobs like us on the Internetz entertained. 300 sounds reasonable!

Come to think of it I've got a non functioning Tait two way radio and mag mount aerial with a flawed coaxial to complete the effect.

A word to the wise though, as much as it'll be a hoot to have it returned to as service appearance make sure any taxi signage is removed before using it outside of a showground or Shiter meet up. You will attract the attention of plod, local authority enforcement officers and legitimate taxi drivers who will think you're driving it to pirate fares or worse. Don't even think about driving it on the public highway with a roof sign and replica plate on the back. Think of it as similar to owning a tidy white Rover Sd1 and dressing it up in police gear for films and shows. If you do get stopped with a taxi sign then you'll feel the wrath of the town and Country miscellaneous planning act upon you. If it still has an existing taxi MOT then it's technically a grey area as to whether it can be driven on the road by someone who isn't licenced by a local authority. Even my girlfriend is forbidden from driving my car even if I insured her. Only VOSA testing officials can drive it.

On the other hand Fake Taxi adult films are popular so maybe you could fund it's restoration on the back seat?

Is ‘possibly on its last legs’ official DVSA jargon now?!

I have no idea on IOW licencing protocol on whether the plate dies with the car.

Just to be on the safe side I probably wouldn't chuck a taxi sign on the roof and use it to drop the mother in law off at Terminal 5 Heathrow on an enforcement day. I bet they'd still dip your tank even though it's a petrol while the inland revenue scrutinise your tax affairs.

Some folk call Audi's Aldi's. With its plate this one is LiDL

Wow, I was a frequent visitor to the IoW last year and never saw this (mind, I didn't even get to go on the ex-London underground trains that run all over the IoW)

The Island Line is one of my main motivations to get over to the IoW at some point. That, and the passenger hovercraft service :)

TFL Compliance team checked me the other day at T4....they were actually alright...split hairs though on the location of my phone mounted cradle...i like to have it in the middle (don’t know why but to me and I’m left handed maybe that has something to do with it) but he wanted me to move it to right of the steering wheel....tried to explain to him that I don’t have it there for risk of it falling out the window when I have the window down....he was having none of my common sense! Haha

I cannot imagine driving nearly 500k in a 1.8 Audi 100. They're mega underpowered IMHO. I really wish I could buy it!
