2002 MG ZT 160 for £550 fixed!

Thanks for clarifying that for me :)

It's as clear as mud!

Why the fuck did they do a 2.5 making 160, when the 2.0 in the Rover 75 makes 150?  The same tune to the 2.0 would make what this car makes, without the extra 500cc displacement.

The Rover line up is so simple - yet the ZT doesn't seem to be.

Okay, it's a 160.  Fair enough and thanks for checking out the deets :)

So, still for sale or part exchange folks.

Ha'way, let's have a bit roffle Ken.

My 2002 ZT-T 2.5 is a 190 and its build date is only a couple of months later than this one. Insurance database thinks it's a 180 (auto) though, which it most definitely isn't, and the V5C says it's a CDTi which is even more wrong. Not massively helpful I know, just seems lots of these do have the wrong stuff recorded...

^^ Bit mad isn't it.

Hmm, roffle. I'd be happy with a roffle but it'd have to be £12 a roffle number which might be a bit spicy for folk.

Dunno, any interest?

Put me down for a random also please Ken.

I never win, so am safe from the ' nowhere to keep it ' blues.

Plus I miss the car... It is as sorted as they get. Ask my wallet!

Lol.

Okay folks, before we go any further. I popped over to the barn this morning and faffed around a bit.

I noticed that the coolant tank contained a little less coolant and that there was what looked like condensation on the plastic manifold pipes. I topped the tank up a tad and I noticed that there was a little bit of water vapour coming from under the engine cover. I didn't have the time to take the cover off, plus no long implement or torch. I am pretty bloody sure that the thermostat housing is leaking.

I am going to pull the roffle unless told by folks that they want to continue. The car does NOT overheat and there wasn't a huge amount of missing coolant.

A thermostat housing and so on will be included as BTB had one in the boot that he was going to try and get fitted so all the potential problem bases were sorted, as were the belts, the car has also had the rear suspension arms and springs replaced whilst under BTB's care.

I will completely understand if folks want to pull out. No problem at all.

I will put the car on the list of Rovers/MG's to sort when time and more importantly, money, is available.

Please let me know.

you can check the stat by taking the engine cover off and shining a torch into the "V" which is where the stat sits. If its leaking youll see stains from the anti freeze. Im still in on the roffle if thats what it is.

The stat needs done on mine and while it is DIYable, its quite an involved job. a local MG specialist has quoted me £100 if i supply the stat kit so not the end of the world.

Yeah, previously checked the housing on a 75 of mine, just didn't have the stuff with me to do it this time. 99.999999999999% sure that's what it is.

Please let me know how you all want to play this one folks.

Its clearly a straightforward fix, even if its at a specialist, the car is only going to stand the winner at that cost plus 12 quid. Its a beautiful example.

I would be a bit nervous at driving it all the way to the Scotch though so I shall step aside this time.

Okay, well unless folk vote otherwise, I'll continue with the roffle.
