Hertz Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 More clues, we are struggling here. That seat does look very Vauxhall ish but I can't be sure.
John F Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 IIRC the Probe was only available in 2.0 and 2.5... xtriple 1
oldcars Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Are they not mk4 Golf seats? That or a Passat of the same era?
garycox Posted April 5, 2018 Author Posted April 5, 2018 A Probe would be much more interesting. I have still not arrived. Jim Bell 1
garycox Posted April 5, 2018 Author Posted April 5, 2018 Are they not mk4 Golf seats? That or a Passat of the same era?Correct, they are not. HillmanImp, Fabergé Greggs and inconsistant 3
bramz7 Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 So it's pre 98, available in more than one bodystyle, and has a 1.6 petrol engine. Not a clue, those seats have thrown me.
John F Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Yeah, they look like Vaux to me too... could be a Corsa B I suppose. HillmanImp 1
HillmanImp Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 could be a Corsa B I suppose.I know we are known to go out of our way to get unusual and unloved cars but not even anyone on here would travel that far in a peasant wagon for one of those. Fabergé Greggs, egg and John F 3
Mr Bump Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Mr Google has just rung me to tell me not a sport as the sport had the extending bit at the front. I forgot my wife had one once and advised me she had broken the seat when she found the extender. Extender being a technical term.
John F Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 I know we are known to go out of our way to get unusual and unloved cars but not even anyone on here would travel that far in a peasant wagon for one of those. ... until now, maybe?
bramz7 Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 London achieved, food and coffee consumed. Only 5.5hrs to go (plus the return journey)... I was planning to check out my stats, but the August 1998 issue of Car doesn't have my car in the list of "every new car" as it'd already been replaced by its successor... To everyone guessing, the replacement to the car being collected was out by August 98.
garycox Posted April 5, 2018 Author Posted April 5, 2018 I ARRIVED!!! Mr Bump, Lacquer Peel and Jim Bell 3
garycox Posted April 5, 2018 Author Posted April 5, 2018 IS IT SUMMER YET? RoadworkUK, dome, djim and 25 others 28
RoadworkUK Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Being that those used the Astra saloon rear lights, I like to call them Belmont Cabriolets. Just like the Mk3 Escort Cabrio was in fact the Escort three-door estate convertible. egg 1
timolloyd Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 These are pretty neat I reckon. Hood stows right away I think for a nice flat deck. Hope you're driving all the way home topless!
RobT Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 I was expecting something slightly fucked, but that looks mintola. Worth the journey I'd say.
Jim Bell Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Gary. Come here. I just want to tell you something...... You're an angel that brings lightness to the gloom and we all appreciate you and wish we were more like you. Theres a seat for you at the top table when Dollywobbler FINALLY marries 320touring. *slow hand clap starts* Fabergé Greggs, The Moog, 320touring and 8 others 11
garycox Posted April 5, 2018 Author Posted April 5, 2018 HOME 16hr round trip for an Astra. Sixteen hours. Was it worth it? Unsure yet, but it seems alright actually. I'll have a proper look tomorrow. djim, Craig the Princess, Dave_Q and 3 others 6
garycox Posted April 5, 2018 Author Posted April 5, 2018 I've just realised that it was actually 17 hours. RobT 1
