https://www.police-auction.org.uk/vehicle-list/?x=0&type=9&make=&trns=0&fuel=0&catc=0&dist=0&sort=0&srch=&page=4                                                                                                                                                                                                                        I found this site (Motorhog) in Car Mechanics of April 2018, in Ted Connolly`s (RIP) article. Loads of cars for sale - the above URL takes you to the police auction page showing many cars with no recorded damage. Lots of lightly damaged cars in the other sections. All up for auction, with very low bids on them at present - I`ve no idea what the final bids could be.

Also in the same edition in the free ads section:"2001 Rover 75 diesel engine and gearbox, good working order £50 Buyer collects 07453530355 Llandudno". Could be of interest to someone ?

I've bought stuff from them, it's Doncaster Motor Spares, and that seems to be their ex plod section

Some bargains on there if they go for that much...S plate Passat for £120 seems worth a look...back when VW still made comfortable cars...still would have had the blue dash lighting then too...

It costs £50 to sign up to bid.

Ouch ! Sort of takes the shine off it a touch then.............

I have started the registration process but not paid, if they're anything like copart then they will be in touch to offer me it cheaper pretty soon.

I've just checked my emails, copart is £50 a year as well, they offered me 40% off pretty much immediately (£29.99) and then later 70% off (£15), I didn't actually sign up though as it seems a bit rich to pay for the opportunity to buy something from them.

Looking through the terms and conditions on that police auction site, the people who run it (Motorhog) have some fairly hefty buyers fees, depending on the final sale price.

Buy a vehilce for £120 (which seems to be a common starting point) and the buyer fee is £50!

What's the source of these cars? As in how did the cops come to have them, I can only assume they've impounded them

Not sure the Passat is much of a bargain, its done two hundred and odd thousand, id have thought it would be quicker and cheaper to take it straight to the crusher, than be entertaining a stream of people wanting a look round it and the fannying around that would involve.

Shirley ideal material for the Roffle of Doom then? :D

I hope they decontaminate the nerve agent before putting those vehicles up for auction.

I wonder what happens if you buy something thats been a police siezure, then apply for the v5, only for the previous owner and current v5 holder to object to a new v5 being issued to you.

I once went to look at a KA luxury, leather etc..., ‘‘twas absolutely rotten. :(

I think when a car is seized, the driver has to sign to say that it will be disposed of if not collected.

Not sure on the legal standpoint if the driver is not the owner etc, but here is an example of the sort of words on the form.
