Coding, then another one will go, then another... I’d say go find a place that services the injectors you have and have it sorted. Usually they can be sorted for much less than a new one.

Thank you sir, just the sort of thing I needed to know.

Are you meaning have the injectors recoded? You can do that with Forscan.

Off hand I don’t know if these have a similar injector set up to the Mk3 TDCIs Delphi injectors. They would ‘fall out of spec’ after so long due to wear in the injectors. Recoding them would give it another lease of life for a brief time.

I’ve now been told that Siemens/VDO Injectors won’t need coding. I’ve got forscan anyway, so it’s no great hassle but who is right? Do they or don’t they?

Ok so question for the collective if I may. 2009 mundano 1.8 tdci, engine malfunction comes up on the dash and rough running/no power and injector no 2 shows up on diagnostics. Bit of googling shows that 2009 era cars had a known issue with failing injectors. Anyone got any wisdom on this whole nonsense? Will a replacement injector need coding to the car or just plug and play? Will a replacement injector even cure it? All advice greatly appreciated.

I never knew that. Both my 2009 1.8tdci examples never gave me a moments injector problems. Maybe I was lucky or it was down to doing over 1000 miles a week?

It seems they can go at higher mileages one after the other, or that’s what the World Wide Web of things is telling me. There are claims of a bad batch supplied to ford in 2009. How true that is, I don’t know.

Mine had only done 400,000 miles. The injectors may have been changed though.

Oil filter lives in here.

Refit sump plug with new copper washer, then dump 5 litres of fresh oil into the sump.

That's all there s to it really.

Swapped the tyres front to rear, the fronts were getting a bit worn but still have loads of wear in them. The rears were new a little while back.

Also had a small but annoying chip in the windscreen, bought a kit in Halfords made by Rain-x,quite impressive result from it.

The chip is a lot less noticeable than before, hopefully it's given strength back to the area.

May wash it tomorrow,may not.

Gave mine a much needed wash, on Saturday.

About a month ago I sprayed the wheels with some Meguiars stuff and jet washed them (and the car off), but it was a fairly sub-standard job.

Due to injuries and illness, before the quick pit stop, I hadn’t washed the thing since September at the latest. I like to fit my winter steels, but it didn’t happen this year, so I was concerned my OE, unmarked diamond cut wheels would be stained at the very least.

Thankfully not! They got the Megs again, then the car was snow foamed and shampooed, and all of the arches and underside etc given a damn good blast.

I never bothered drying it. What’s the point at this time of year?

I’m pleased to see it back looking how it should. At all other times, I care for this car. I’ve owned it for over two years and it hasn’t picked up a single dent or scrape.

I like to keep it tidy.

Interesting that’s what I have experienced with relatives Mondeos.

Forscan recommendation from you? I only have a shite generic one for anything other than JLR stuff.

Imagine being part of a Mondeo fetish club and thinking that means you are in any way able to judge anyone else.

As @overrun says, the autos aren't as frugal but for the extra comfort and laziness I don't mind.

450 miles for 85 quid worth of diesel at 1. 30 a litre

Cba working out the mpg but im happy with it its better than that mk3 I had with the knackered injector

I think the mk4 is one of the last Fords to be offered in Ghia form??
I think so. And with the Mondeo at least it became second from bottom spec, after Zetec!
