HH-R Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 Relays replaced,no difference, Switch replaced with a known good used one,no difference. They started to work again today,Must be intermittent fault somewhere, but where?Still scratching my head over this,Even mates in the trade have never come on a problem like this one! Will see if they are working tomorrow Not sure if you got to the bottom of this, but I had exactly this on a FIAT a few years back and it was a dry solder joint on the wiper motor. junkyarddog 1

junkyarddog Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Well,I've admitted defeat,My Mondeo is now in the hands of an auto sparks!About the first time ever I've had to take my car to a garage for repair. Hopefully they can sort it,and not charge the earth!
junkyarddog Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 This was the cause of the wiper problem,Even though I had tried a switch, there is still more electrical bits and bobs where the switch connects into! Why is stuff so stupidly complicated now?
rantingYoof Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 I parked behind one of them black-handled red Mondeo estates on Tuesday while out on site visits. I captured it on the dashcam, and have been meaning to take a screen grab so you can all perve at it. It was a 61 plate I think. warren t claim 1

Faker Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 Anyone any tips regarding dodgy cruise control? Activate it and try and adjust the speed with the up and down buttons disengages it... frustrating.. Crackling tweeter behind me in offside rear door needs changing... How the hell do you set up the radio for phone use?! Ta darlings!

meshking Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 I have an 08 smax, which I guess I might just sneak in here under the mk5 mondeo banner (?). My seats are fantastic at picking up stains, and the fabric (blue and grey) is difficult to get rid. Assuming these are shared with mondeo, what products do people use?
Captain Furious Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 So after all the drama of hooligate I guess I ought to post some car related content, but consider yourselves warned it is not autoshite, it is modern and boring and hopefully reliable and in need of nothing. However it is HOT MONDEO ACTION! I used to own half of a Mk4 which is chronicled in the first pages of this thread, but for various reasons that deal went sour. My daily ST220 cannot tow, is a tad thirsty for 12000 miles a year and to be honest I just fancied something modern and maintenance free. I’ve always thought these are friggin gorgeous. I’ll be sad to see the ST220 go because it is still immaculate and drives superbly, but this ticks every box I need it to and a few more besides. So without further ado, it’s a 2015 Mk5 Mondeo Titanium diseasal 180. Featurewise it has adaptive LED headlights (yet to try) active park assist (yet to try) electric tailgate, active city stop, lane keep assist, heated electric leather, dual zone climate hell it even has a heated steering wheel, about the only thing it doesn’t have from the options list is adaptive cruise. 19k on the clock, Magnetic Grey, 19in alloys...err, that’s about it. I know this is the antithesis of autoshite, but this is the mondeo mk4 and 5 thread, so here it is warren t claim, junkyarddog, jollysmart and 5 others 8

Nothing off the shelf worked on my seats.
junkyarddog Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 I use Halfords own brand upolstry cleaner, works well on mine.It is a gripe though, that they stain so easily. That grey mk5 is gorgeous! Captain Furious 1
meshking Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 I feel like I've tried every off the shelf cleaner. Gonna have to go deep into cleanyourcar.co.uk I fear. +1 on the grey mondeo, lovely! Captain Furious 1

It happened to my old one. You can strip the buttons down and clean them, or blast them with a can of compressed air.My method of just holding down one button and jabbing another worked, though. After that, it never cancelled itself again. What radio you got, Sony? Faker 1

Faker Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 New issues! Engine management light comes on regularly now. 5 mins after start up and as soon as the temp gauge reaches normal operating temp... boom! sierraman Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 So long as it runs fine I’d not worry. Just knock it out for the test. Faker 1

I do mainly motorway stuff too...Check the two small diameter pipes at the front of the DPF, that run to the pressure regulator thingy (can’t think what it is atm - just woke up!). They are known to burn through.Ten min job to replace them with some silicone vac hose or similar. Faker 1
overrun Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 Mine failed it’s test on inner rear pads being below 1.5mm (bollocks) and a fucked trailing arm bush. TADTS. I forgot it was advised last year, and as they drive fine with them past their best, it’s easy to forget IMO. Seeing as the front discs were warped when I bought it 17k miles ago, and all four were showing hairline surface cracks, I changed the lot for OE stuff, and poly bushed both trailing arms. Removing the original bushes was simple. I wasn’t sure what to expect, here. But I had to remove both rear hubs, and have the poly bushes pressed in by a local engineering company - who took a week to do it and charged me 40 quid for the pleasure. Yes, I should have bought a 12T press and done it myself - I threw it back together, had the pleasure* of paying for another 4 wheel alignment, and it breezed the re-test as expected. Wear and tear items, so no complaints here and it’s nice that the OE discs now come with painted top hats and vanes.Saved me a job. Next up, adding DAB to the factory head unit. stripped fred Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 I would like a Mondeo estate at some point but I am unsure which one to go for. Which diesel is the better bet? The 2.0? Also, I would like an auto gearbox but would it be a safer option to go for a manual?

Also, I would like an auto gearbox but would it be a safer option to go for a manual? I'd go for a 2.0 diesel 140 or 163, personally. Unless you particularly want the extra power that the 2.2 175 or 200 offers?I'd stick with a manual for economy and simplicity. The Powershift auto boxes in particular, can have their issues. stripped fred and warren t claim 2

Mrcento Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 I would like a Mondeo estate at some point Same, i'm strongly considering one as my new daily, My car hunt in general isn't going so well and these are the only things i like that keep popping up in budget, Thankfully most even seem to be 2.0 Diesels, manual, as well and good spec (Titanium and titanium x's) I did stumble across a lower spec red estate locally with that weird black boot handle (as mentioned earlier in the thread)... which is really weird considering they seemed to all be a thing dowwn saaarf. warren t claim 1
Pillock Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 The Red Boot Handle Gang were fleet cars so would have gone to auction.... the big names like BCA tend to move fleets around their sites as they know it would be suicide to put through a hundred identical cars at the same site. warren t claim and Mrcento 2
sierraman Posted April 14, 2019 Posted April 14, 2019 Does the 2.0 suffer much with DPF problems? warren t claim 1
