Emailed the East Lancs Railway to ask about volunteering. They are looking for range of people including people to work on Diesel Electrics.

Quite fancy this ... Haven't mentioned it to missus Moog yet. WCPGW

The tradition continues.  Two armchairs and the cushions inside the car, three-seat sofa on the roof.  Had one van passenger trying (and hopefully succeeding) to get a photo/video of us on the dual carriageway.  What a machine!

Idiot sister moved into her house a few years back, and promptly did her trick of decorating* Aka fucking up current decorating by putting 6 inch squares of tester splots everywhere and then not bothering. As part of this scheme she spent a shitload on one of those useless dulux paint pod systems, and matching paint. Didn't actually use it mind, painting is for lesser mortals.

Fast forwards to now. Paint she bought then has gone off, and the entire system is discontinued. So she drives all over the world to get 2 tubs of green paint for it, then lazy strikes again and she's going to get a bloke in to do it.

Bloke comes to give her a quote. And I want this room green, can you use my paint pod machine?

Never used one love, but it's paint. I can pour it in a tray and use a roller.

Jaw drops about 5,000 feet. I pissed myself so hard my trousers will never dry.

ELR HAZ DELTICS!

They used to have the CO-BO too but I don't know if it's still there

Apparently so http://www.elrdiesel.info/fleet-d5705.phpand the 15 too.  I've got some pictures that I took of it 15 years ago at a diesel gala stashed somewhere.

Railway volunteering is great if you can find the time to get there,  I started at Telford steam railway but havn't been for months as I've been too knackered after work and too busy at the weekend

I'm grinning about the PC Resto Show this weekend. I'm not 'working' so have chosen to spend the weekend on the 2CVGB stand trying to get folk to buy one and join the club. Has been far too long since I last did that. Not sure what car I'm taking yet. Was thinking 2CV, but then it's not like I can enjoy it while I'm there, getting all jaundiced in a ruddy great hall.

"nooo, don't sell me, look what I can do!" is something this car says very often.  I should start listening to it.

Some how managed to score two interviews with reputable companies, one if which i REALLY want.

Both give more time off for more ££££, which would mean i could still do the car fixing business, and have a nice bit of cash to 'sit on' if shit hit the fan.

Means nothing yet mind, as they are only interviews.

You won't realise how much you'll miss the space...

I've been offered a free single bed from someone at work for Eva. Win. Except it won't fit in the zx... Luckily the owner drives a van (gnomeotoole) but he now has to drive 25 miles to mine to drop it off then 37 back home the other side of work.

If I had the xm we could just swap it over at lunchtime...

I took some smashed up fence panels to the tip last weekend, and had to REMOVE THE PARCEL Shelf to fit it in the boot as the back seats were full of tools and a car seat.

What do you need a roofrack for?  Beds come with soft mattresses,  add two ratchet straps and you're sorted.

A tip would be to do up the ratchet strap from inside the car with everything in place to avoid inelegant 'Dukes of Hazzard' style maneuvers when you tighten it up with the doors shut (like I did with the ADO16 and a double mattress).

Paint pods actually work. You can use normal paint in them if you add 5% water and pour in to an empty pod. Cheaper than the pods and any colour you like.

Good luck. Plenty of mental prep is a good idea. After all, there is a limit to the sort of questions they're likely to ask at an interview. Think of things you've done that were good, showed initiative. Don't rant about the current place. ;)

Leaving work today I was following an Isuzu Mu with a smiley face transit behind me. This morning I saw a Plymouth Valiant, a Holden Kingswood and a Jaguar XJS.

This sort of thing is normal, Perth is a chod paradise.

I fancied the steam but then looked at what they say you have to do and so thought fuck getting there at 5am to start lighting fires

you would never get a letter off of the undertaker though, he was just a right misery!

Better not say that in front of my missus, she has been good friends with him for many years, also pall bearer,

Mark is actually a very nice guy.

The Harts, ultimate warrior, shaun michaels and many others who were all fairly frequent visitors to our house in Holborn when we lived there.

Another life,long gone unfortunately.

Seeming as it's my day off and the weather is shit, meaning I can't do anything outside, I'm currently having a relax on the sofa, watching the trees outside dance in the wind and the birds that frequently come to my garden eat from the feeders we put out, simple things often make me smile the most

I've been listening to the firemen here trying to start their Opel Vivaro minibus thing for half an hour- I just had another look, bonnet open, jump leads out. It's cranking away fine so I think it's terminal

I should probably say firemen here are all volunteers (hooray for them) but they seem to be more like a drinking club, I've seen these ones go out on a call once in 10 years, and that was because of flooding. The house I'm in (t'wife's) is behind the firehouse, the front has all been redone but the back, the bit we see all the time, looks like a derelict warehouse, plus they get to park in front of our house whenever they feel like it, so we have to park somewhere else, They have parties most weekends in the summer too, so it's rather like living next to the neighbours from hell but you can't say anything about it because they're volunteers and heroes and all that.

Awww, they've abandoned it. They must have all had to squeeze into the one car to go to the bar.

Dropped a real eye peeler of a fart in the boss man's office, quickly escaped, then got to see the look on his face through the window when he returned. Sadly this made my day!

We are now properly a two car household.  Nugget is off to London tonight with Mike at the helm, I'll be updating the thread shortly with what he's been up to on the little turquoise trooper.

One of my old high school mates has posted a load of pictures of himself on Facebook having climbed up a crane in the middle of Manchester. I wonder how long before he gets in some serious trouble

Using an old car battery (off the Green Tiger BX I think, possibly the silver TXD) to power a fluid transfer pump (bought for my bio-munching W123 Merc some years ago) to force OAT antifreeze into our DIY solar panel loop. The battery is (unsurprisingly since it hasn't been used for a few years) sluggish, so I had to get the jump pack on it. Yes, it is in the bathroom. Go figure.

It all worked too. This is a system designed and built (including the controller) by my good lady wife - using old radiators and caravan/house windows. What a woman! I only really helped with this last bit.

It's amazing what you can do with leftover stuff.  Puts me in mind of the water collection matrices they use where it's a window frame full of empty plastic bottles that collect condensation for clean, uncontaminated water in some horrible hot parts of the world where clean water is a luxury for most rather than a right.

However, how you're using antifreeze to make solar power is beyond my understanding.
