What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

I have had a good day. First up an email telling me I have won tickets to the NEC next weekend. Just as well I didn't book them !!!! Then tonight I had a reply from a seller in France with 2 doors for the Juvaquatre. He is keeping hold of them for me to collect in a couple of weeks, so went to book the ferries and hotel. Then found a nice hotel in Paris so can treat the other half as well. She is always moaning that I always avoid Paris every time we go to France and she has always wanted to see the Eiffel tower so I got a room 10 mins walk away. Hopefully that will keep her happy and she can be in charge of the camera for chod spotting.

Whilst looking for a Peugeot 205 to illustrate my parts sharing post I stumbled across this. No idea what it's all about and the caption is all in French but its bizarreness made me laugh.

I definitely don't* watch WWE on youtube feeds.

They are pretty hot on getting them blocked though. You may also like OSW review, which is 3 sweary slightly racist Irish lads chronologically critiquing the Hulkamania era

And in other Youtube news, Epic Rap Battles of History, perhaps my favourite comedy channel, has returned

The caption doesn't really say much about the vehicle itself, just that it's in a bit of a state and will probably be for sale soon.

Only on the pay per views, raw and smackdown don't take a lot of searching for. You may like the Bruce Blitz channel as he does a rew review, apart from the mild homophobia which seems to be in a lot of american chat youtube shows it is quite entertaining.

I've just had to Google WWE. I'm now sorry that I did, it seems about as sporty or entertaining as F1.

My grin is, we took Keith The Dog round to meet the dog sitter he's going to be staying with on Sunday, and she had the remains of a Gilbern Invader tucked away and two other cat piss tarp challenges.  Winner.

The classic-friendly garage in Ulverston, that I've been using since soon after coming back to Britain, has moved.

To the empty premises right across the road from the bakery!

In other news, I'm on holiday now and will be on a plane to Cyprus tomorrow!

Whenever I see one of these it reminds me of the six cylinder lump from an SD1.

It will probably be more durable than the six cylinder lump from an SD1.

Star pupil in painting class today. Test panel finished by 11 so Beetle boot and one back wing in primer flatted down to a super good standard rest of the day. Tutor was very happy :-)

I too have bought an engine:

£10. Doesn't start said the evilbay ad. They was not lying!

Anyone know anything about lawn mower engines? I has spark, but only 30 psi of compression which sounds a bit* low. But pull starter is shit, so maybe not wazzing it over fast enough to get a proper reading.

Plan is not to be cutting grass, but to build a lazy bastard deluxe shite moving device. I'm bored of carrying 30kg boxes of dice round the back, and definitely don't want to be carrying cubic meter bags of logs.

My slight knowledge of side valves would make me take the cylinder head off and check the valves are seating properly. I looked after an old upright Briggs and Stratton and the exhaust valve would seize slightly open giving very low compression when not used for a bit.

Have you tried bump starting it? Find a long straight road, run like fook until you get up a good steady speed then drop the clutch.......

Lol!

I've got all lovely new sofas/reclining armchairs in dog shit brown leather. The colour really suites my decor as my flat is generally, truly shite, but the 3 piece is lovely and comfortable. Also bought a nice wood coffee table of the oval variety, all delivered and the old stuff taken away very efficiently.

The dog has already claimed the sofa!

Jakebullet's mowershite - Carb looks like a dellorto fhc20, float bowl probably gunky and red rubber seals perished. Try the little tickler spring underneath ti make sure juice is getting to carb, might be something daft like petrol tap still closed. Air filter screws on back of carb, probably dusty and full of crap.

Think thats a suffolk colt, that engine was on allsorts of mowers for years and years.

Theres a little plate over the valves with gauze behind it, that will be full of crap, valves should be easy enough to get to springs and take out if they are a bit dodgy as suggested above. If you're doing that might as well de coke the head and valve seats too, simple enough once its all dismantled.

Clean petrol, tickle button under carb, think position C on carb is choke, A is half choke and B (middle) is run. Plug out and clean it, splash of juice in the cylinder and then see if it runs after the initial pop and bang. The same carb was on aspera and tecumseh engines and if they sit a while quite often they need a bit of encouragement to get petrol and air flowing through again.

I think this could be the official mower of this website. Driving one of these would make me grin from ear to ear, enjoy.

Exciting* mower update. Stripped off the pull starter and fabricated an adaptor for an aldi drill. Wazzed it round at silly speed, and I have 40 psi of compression. Put the cleaned spark plug in, and... nothing much. Full throttle gives a bit of smoke. Full throttle + easy start = lots of smoke.

So dead-o. There's are 2 more barn find* engines on evilbay nearby, so will see what they go for, or plan B attack the valves as suggested above. Somebody has been cack handed with it before, as it has none matching head bolts, missing screws etc.

Oh, n carb cleaner stings a bit* when you get it in the eye.
