What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

You can never lose a homing Pigeon.

If your homing Pigeon doesn't come back, what you have lost is a Pigeon.

A bit like the old joke "What do you call a boomerang that doesn't come back?"

"A stick!"

Sorry...

New shite has arrived at Chez_Kru_Joe.

It's not mine to announce officially (it's Will's) so for now, here's a clue:

You'll probably work it out from that :)

Those light units look familiar, but can't quite place them. Are they off a Chrysler/Talbot?

PSA?

The engine looks XUD, but (as you can tell) I'm pissing hopeless at this sort of thing!

Another grin; one of the idiot monkeys in here has proudly announced that he rewired his Transit following a loom fire.

Can't wait for the next one!

Someone on Faceache is selling a 1998 Mercedes Benz CLK 230 Kompressor and says it got from Anglesey to Blackpool and back on £30's worth of fuel. Based on £1.20 per litre, and Googling the approximate distance, it must have been doing 55mpg. Or they're full of shit.

So, somebody on Faceache is selling a CLK with a knackered fuel gauge, then.

If it's like the management's one and the loom's fucked it's just a decimal point in the wrong place 5.5mpg is about right.

It seems likely playtime with the Flavia coupé begins tomorrow.  I am very excited by this prospect.

EDIT:  this one, in fact, but it's not my photograph.

It is nice, but there's something about the number plate being higher than the lights that just doesn't do it for me.

Went to the tip (well industrial unit) with all stuff I can't fix. Was mega surprised at the amazing number of really nice push bike dumped there, spoke to a guy working there who says they get taken away by a bloke who teaches people to fix em.

Anyway big grin was while chucking a printer found an xbox 360 with all the wires and a memory card. Probably do ad so took the wires and card but on then found a nice casio clock (working) and a boxed commodore 64!

When clean it's on the eBay :-) am wishing I had took the xbox too though and a really 70's portable TV that had a cassette deck built in. I could have spent all day just dragging crap out though

That's class, it looks like an Austin 3-Litre two door coupe that's been stood on by the BFG.

What Cheggers said - The Flavia wants some Vulgalour arse-end remodelling - perhaps the number plate needs to be the normal shape and tucked under the bumper.

Posted

I'm thinking lights built into the rear fins & keep the number plate where it is (of course I know better than the original designer, because I'm sitting in my pants on an Internet forum)

Whoaaaah! Where the hell did THAT come from Vulg? Looks very cool.

The colour scheme is absolutely gopping.

Tomorrow is an important quarterly business review at work, and I have found a particularly horrible Flightline* gold and dark blue tie patterned tie to wear.

*Everyones favourite Southend based defunct airline.

I remember them! They Used to fly BA146's out of Southend until about 10 years ago.

a BA146-300 used to go out twice a day from Southend (Mon to Fri) taking Ford staff to Cologne and back, I believe that was run by Flightline and when that service suspended they folded.

Flavia has more rust than you might expect from the pictures but less than you might expect from the marque.  Interior has already been started in red leather, there are reasons it wasn't finished so that's a job I'll likely be taking over and bringing to completion.  Exterior is likely to go one-tone grey, wheels cream as per the usual Lancia design and then we have the onerous task of sorting out the brakes which is the main reason it came off the road.

It was bought before I joined JMP but it's going to be one very, very careful restoration as trim items are carved from purest unobtanium, sprinkled with powdered unicorn horns and hens teeth before being polished with a specially formulated rocking horse poop cream.

I am assured it runs and drives, and stopping is courtesy of the handbrake, I've just got to get myself up to speed on it and find out just how much I've let myself in for by agreeing to work on it and by getting excited about it in the first place.  Of course we'll keep you updated on progress as it's made.

On the mot front a friends mum always amuses. She has an x plate fiesta. Every mot is a fail sheet full of knackered brakes, at least 1 bald tyre, suspension bushes etc.

N she always asks after it's failed, do you think I can risk driving it to tescos? Er, it's no more dangerous than it was this morning before you knew :)
