What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

The eBay tat thread has started showing me pictures on my phone in tappytalk, after months of broken picture links.

I don't care why or how this has been fixed (unless it was deliberate in which case nice one Dave!) but I am now happier than a pig in shit.

Don't worry Trigger - as long as it's clear what type of phone you've got, that's the important thing.

I think someone said you can turn that bit (i.e 'sent using a Sony Mars bar') off.

Posted

I have a Sony Mars bar. I much preferred my Sony CMD Z1-Plus, though.

That thing was the balls about 14 years back.

Apparently I overpaid on shipping on an ebay.com item. So they sent me a message telling me this and refunded me the difference.

Even after I had took advantage of the 'Best Offer' feature on an already cheap item. :D

A+++++++ ZOMFGG recommended top sella

You can, sorry about that, I've only just got the phone and wasn't aware that I hadn't removed the signature when I downloaded the Tapatalk app this morning.

I love Nigella. She has just the right undertones that let you know she is filthy. And that is without the mashups.

I can watch Nigella Express no problem at all and I am certainly not a 'foody'.

LOL @ the coke references in this vid.

My mate says a pair of 70's/80's NOS light blue Ford badges went for £235 on ebay. :|

Did they light up?  Were they made of purest Green Blue?  Were the bidders on CRACK?

Wow, I just did a 'completed listings' search on eBay for light blue Ford badges.

Holy hell. £122, £40, £50, £101, £107, £65...

How much valuable light blue paint have I sanded off in the past

Posted

I paid about 60 quid for a pair a year ago and was twisting about that.

Shame the only way to retain any value is not to stick them on. Ha.

Posted

I need some sandpaper, some light blue paint and some reproduced NOS packaging.  If it weren't for eBay fees I could be a squillionaire overnight.

Posted

Haha. They don't come in packaging.

Shame the plastic chrome also degrades. That is the killer on most.

Posted

The plastic chrome can be redone with a bit of gilt foil before you apply the paint...

Posted

Are those badges pressed/cast metal then just painted blue in the recess?

Posted

They're plastic, have the chrome stamped in and then blue paint applied and then silver paint over the back before the sticker is put on.  Had great fun back in the day sanding the blue off and repainting in whatever colour whoever asked me to do them wanted.  I seem to recall black and red were most popular, one person wanted green badges.

Took Ma down to Hereford for a job interview. I didn't realise getting to Hereford meant 20-odd miles of A-roads. Anyway, on the way there we spotted an early Red Metro on the M5 heading North, it looked well clean! The Sterling battery seemed to drain whilst parked up for just over an hour in Hereford Hospital's needlessly expensive car park. It seemed reluctant to start but thankfully I got the tank started.

Whilst there, I purchased the Hereford newspaper and saw this:

3b1b03fa-f42b-41d1-a451-22f4a09a1152_zps

A nice Metro for £750.

Driving back was bloody treacherous. Wind, rain, another 20 odd-miles of A-roads. I passed by VeryTallBrads to pick up the keys to my old garages as I have a couple of things to pick up.

All in all the Sterling performed faultlessly (apart from a slight reluctance to start) mind, I'll need to chuck some water over it to clean off the mud it picked up on Hereford roads, I'd only had the thing cleaned yesterday!

The RRC has a nice new 13 month mot on it thanks to Skattrd for taking up north and back.

The quandary now is do I keep it or try my chances to make a profit out of it on egay and buy something older and more shite?

I think I'll try my luck on the bay as I'm still pining after the deal on the scimitar fell through.

Went christmas shopping. Bought zero presents, two pints of milk, one magnetic tray from pound shop.

Did 38 miles despite shops being three miles away. I love the Sprite.

Brill! Just won an entire K11 Micra exhaust system to eBay for £25. Need to go and pick up from Erewash in Notts at some point. Hopefully this'll cure the Micra noisyness and the gear selector will be sorted at the same time.
