That's a very cool shot and definitely one for the 2014 calendar!  I'm curious, obviously a long exposure was involved but I'm assuming that's not all, how did you do this?

25 second exposure, back lit flash and the aperture stopped down at around f/10 or f/12. ISO 200 or 400 I think, you start getting loads of noise any higher than that. Got Mo to move off about 15 seconds.

Jon. Those photos are amazing. You said you'd get some great shots. You delivered.

Honestly its been great meeting up with Autoshiters over the past couple of days. More of this needs to happen. I actually have something to grin about!

From a few pages back, thanks to Trigger for the Look at Life videos. Brilliant!

Also, I'm trying to convince the wife that if I get my contract renewed at LTI I'm gonna spend the money on a Ford Crown Vic or an old LTD or even a rusty shitbox old pick-up with patina'd sign writing for my business. Life's not been the same since my Dodge got sold (just gone on a SORN apparently, hope it's not the curse kicking in whereby every car I sell gets scrapped or dumped)

Took the van for an MOT this morning, made it there OK despite nearly doing a George Michael due to being absolutely off my tits on waxoyl fumes after forgetting to wire the leccy windows up.

It sailed through without me even having to offer any kind of boiled sweets or distractions/excuses like usual, then I had a lovely drive back the long way home via my mates house (with the back window open this time, keeping me somewhat in the land of the living). I'd forgotten how much fun this was to drive once you get used to sitting right infront of the front wheels - I was blezzing about like a right twat in no time, it goes like stink especially for a big old van.

In digging through my mates shed for some old shitty doorcards to use as templates for new ones, I found a load of proper OE sound deadening for the back of the van that's moulded round the ribs in the floor which I thought I'd chucked away years ago.

Then in a sound deadeining based coincidence I bumped into an old acquaintance and ended up with a BFO roll of flashband falling off the back of his works truck for me to use as sound deadening up front.

Wow Trig!  That looks like where Mike Gambit lives after he gets married!

I bought a £350 camera then a £9 tripod because I'm an idiot and was drunk at the time. Anyway I went out to piss about with nighttime photos but out of 60 shots most of them were OK on a viewfinder but total bollocks on a proper screen due to a mild breeze being too much for the shitty tripod.

I was happy with one photo that I took, so heres a rough mk3 golf next to a dog shit bin taken through the gates of a fairly low rent golf club in rotherham. no pun was intended, it was just on the way to the chip shop.

This happens with my camera phone. When I take a pic it looks Ok and sharp on the preview, but once uploaded to a big screen it looks very blurry/out of focus.

Purple House (or The House of Prince) appears to have a bedroom with en-suite dining room which I find stranger than the colour scheme.

We have made real, actual progress on the Princess today and added to the list of small items the Other Princess needs for the MoT, namely a rear displacer.

I'm looking forward to seeing the beige Princess back on the road, it's good you've got a ready source of spares to hand with a spare car!

The Rover's been ferrying kayaks around today, unsurprisingly it doesn't do many MPGs with a heavy trailer and lots of steep hills but it worked hard and didn't complain.  I left the keys with one of the instructors while I went down the slalom course a few times, went to get them back at lunch time and as he handed them over, he sheepishly admitted that they'd just used it to jump start another member's car.  I didn't mind, especially when the guy apparently was quite taken with the Rover and described it as 'fantastic'.  Obviously a man of good taste!

I love all these stories of our old chod jump starting other cars as the weather gets colder.  I should get some jump leads so I can join in.

Anyone remember I had this happen to our 205 by some incompetent 'thieves' (who succeeded in not stealing a 23 year old French car) a while back?

Thanks to the much-admired hoarding antics of Explosive Cabbage, I picked up these vital parts (plus a bunch of other smaller bits), already removed and ready to go when I was back in Britain over the summer.

Fortunately they made it back on the plane without breaking and it now looks like this:

Better than when we bought it! Got some fine tuning to do but I'm very happy.

Always loved the migrane inducing carpet in 205 GTIs.

A while back I got a parking charge notice from CP Parking Plus for daring to stay two minutes over the allotted stay (described on a filthy sign at the entrance to the services that you fly past).

Complained to Roadchef and said I'd never use their services again.
Roadchef had a word with CP.

CP dropped the parking notice.

I am stunned. Don't get me wrong, it would have been a cold day in hell before I'd have paid it - I'd have gone to court and farted in the dock - but to actually have it in writing (with an apology) is something else. I may frame it.

I might try that over my 'charge' for overstaying by seven hours in M6 service station? Actually, I just won't pay it.

More Pug 205 grins: 400 miles covered in it today (went to Gloucester for a job interview), my right leg hasn't suffered cramp in the thigh and I'm not aching to buggery.  Added to that, the instrument binnacle is a fantastic place to put your cup as you pour yourself a brew from the flask.  I'm beginning to really quite like it. :-D

Penetrant is pissing in the wind compared to this stuff. I don't promote brands as a general rule but my mate nicked me some of this from his work and it's the shit, just the ticket for rusty fastenings, plus it's called super crack ultra. Win in a tin.
