probably not suitable for long car journeys.

Last time I drove a fairly quiet car I tried it, it worked wonders for my mood and mpg. I couldn't care less about the stupid things other drivers were doing.

Gorgeous record(s).

Just did my first session of CBT with my new clinical pysche just outside of Spean Bridge..nice guy..but was pretty grim as I had to go thru in detail the litany of traumas...but the grin part was mother expressing satisfaction that we only used just over one gallon of diesel in the Skoda Fabia on our 76 mile return journey :D

Now that is a happy thing to see. Big hats off to whoever was responsible for returning that bus to being a colourful old thing.

Seeing all the old cars being used out on the road today, there was a mint W reg Mk1 Astra in Terracotta on the Orwell Bridge this afternoon, I got passed by a young girl in a white Morris Oxford in a small village and a special highlight this evening was a immaculate E reg Silver Vauxhall Senator 3.0i CD being driven around 90mph on the A12 by a chap in his 70's with big rimmed glasses and a cardigan, clearing living a dream.

I noticed there was a lot of interesting stuff out on the road too, must be the weather actually being April-y that did it. It also brought out an exceptional* Reliant based trike which was less exciting. I did see a red BX hatchback out too late to be heading to and to early to be heading back from the X rally, a fistful of Swifts and a Mk2 Golf cabriolet with lightweight duct tape additions to the roof. There was a particularly nice Saab 9000 without a spoiler at Tescos, along with a primrose yellow coloured Hyundai or Honda Jazz or some other sort of new-ish granny hatch which struck me as decidedly anachronistic in trim and colour choice for the style of the car. No pictures, for I am full of fail.

Great stuff, Rab it's good to hear you're on the mend, the Ardnamurchan peninsula must be a stunning place to be in spring.

On the subject of radio-only radios I seem to remember that after a certain amount of time, the Vauxhall radio-cassette versions were radio-only as I recall, and Ford ones were cassette-only. It's great fun sitting in a traffic jam with your passenger rummaging around in the boot for the Vauxhall stereo as you remove the Ford version from the slot in the dashboard just so you can see if the local radio traffic reports tell you how long the jam is! Skoda were still putting cassette players in the Fabia in 2005, too - but it may only have been for the hire-car fleets.

my smart roadster was sold with a blanking plate where the stereo should go - and they did a radio only stereo too (and that was in 2005).

The 3rd part of a fault description from a customer:

"When radio is turned off I can hear whispering voices faintly".

Ok...

Just signed up to imgur as phailbucket was getting on my wick. It was clearly a good move as I found this which raised a titter.

This pic churned up a long forgotten memory of being a kid in the mid-80's, and getting a lift in the back of a friend's dad's ex GPO Bedford HA...

I was amazed to read they made these up till 1983, so technically there could be some 'A' reg ones floating around...

(Mind you, the van I remember was already massively rusty back then, and it was probably less than 10 years old at the time...!)

Lulu.

There's a picture of her in today's Mirror and although she's 64 now she could knock spots off most birds half her age or less.

That has got the memory bank going!

My first van, on joining British Telecom ( as it was) was a B reg Ital van. :D

IIRC, there was just one HA van left in the yard at that time, 1989, and it was used as a spare.

Itals were massively shit but, in terms of nostalgia, I wouldnt mind one to have a run about in one now.

I did have to laugh just now when I saw this on the BBC Radio 2 FB newsfeed.

I have my own views on her time in office - some positive, some negative. Political views aside though, I don't go in for gloating about people's deaths. I didn't celebrate Michael Foot's demise and I won't celebrate hers.

Being Scottish...enough said...i was forced into economic-pissed of-poll tax refugee status by her..and her current she devil off spring...yeah great..their doing what she wasnt able to do...and even Scotland has a fairer form of everything now....i celebrate the demise of her policies [wishful thinking]..and as far as a state funeral goes..which night does the rubbish go out....

Brown bin is a week on Thursday I think.

She invented Mr Whippy, I can't forgive her for that.

those who don't wish to celebrate her death obviously didnt suffer enough at her hands.

I have just been to the local sorting office and on the way back passed through several durham villages, they all had their own pit until thatch shut them down. One village already has bunting out and two pub windows display a poster for 'when thatcher dies' website

she stole our school milk, fucked up my generations education with her nasty policies and put my family and friends on the dole

i ll be glad when shes in her grave so i can piss on it.

Good job the Labour Party reversed everything she did when they got in then.

Oh, hang on...
