Could 205/60/15s be persauded on one axle?

They should fit, but I think you're the opposite side of the country to me mate.

I see your tax disc contains the words "Rover" and "Petrol". I'm sorry.

personally, if I had a Rover with a K series, I'd want the government to introduce 3 month road tax! 8)

How soon do you need them? I can bring to Chod castle if wanted or can post them out. I don't want anything for them by the way so postage costs only, I'm guessing this'd be about £14.00 via Farcel Force.

Thanks for the offer, but don't worry about it, I'll pick up some cheap part worns locally and save messing about. I need them for the MOT this week really, otherwise I'm not driving it to Chod Castle ;)

This makes me grin as well ... people being nice on forums :D

I often have the very same thought. I also half expect them to put an exclamation mark after Rover or Petrol.

As some of you may know, I've had 10 K engine cars, and zero HGFs.

Isn't the actual dreaded OMGHGFAIL actually incredibly simple to remedy? I mean, yes it was very dumb of Rover to send cars out of the factory with such a major weak point, but the (comparative) ease of repair makes the huge overreaction a bit strange imho.

Had the one in the pic 10 years this month.

4xR3 Metros, 2 of which were brand new 1.1s, 1xGTa 1xGTi

214SEi R8. Everything BUT the headgasket went wrong. Also brand new. The worst car I have ever had.

216SLi R8. Used. Excellent car.

416SLi R8 saloon. Great machine.

218iS R3. Fast, but perpl.

45 1.8 HHR Club. Noice, got offered silly money for it, took it

and the 25.

HGF is easy to fix if you take your time, RTFM and think about what you're doing. The trick to avoiding it (if you could call it that) is correct maintenance. Change the coolant, and use the correct OAT stuff. The K is a bit of a highly-strung engine, and needs proper looking after. Trouble is, a lot of folks at the used end of the market don't have/won't spend the money. The engine is easy to work on and maintain, so my advice is to grab a copy of RAVE (the Rover WIS) and do it yourself. One note of caution: Rover radiators are shit, so keep a close eye on it.

Happy birthday Eddy!

Bid on a steel wheel with good tyre last night on the bay. It was a 1p start auction so I lobbed 25p on it and won it for a penny! Collected this morning and the tyre is fantastic so I left 2p for the seller and told her to keep the change!

I doubt I will do a road trip write up as epic as a Scooters one though!

Happy birthday indeed Eddy & have a good trip Mackie Messerschmitt!

Starting to plan a holiday in Scotland in September makes me grin. Last time was in the mid 90s using National Express buses. Looking forward to driving through the Highlands! Read a Porsche 924 test last week (courtesy of Triggers awesome archive!) and I want to check the A832 @ Loch Maree.

Thank you gents! :D

Tayne, just leave my prezzy in the back alley, it's the green gate (might need to wrap up the soft-top...)

Michiel, we're expecting to move in the middle of September, so perhaps a little detour south of the border towards the end of your trip? I can have the kettle on, although it's unlikely my shite will have landed by the time you do. Unless Tayne leaves me a Pontiac, obviously...

Billy, you're just too darn generous.....

Happy Birthday Eddy!! Hope you have a good one.

Was passed in traffic today by a foreign registered LHD Marina coupe in beige with a brown vinyl roof - I actually went "OOOFT!" and caused my mother to scream.

Result all round I think.

(EDIT: Happy Birthday Eddy!)

This is as good a place as any for this little story, I suppose...

Yesterday being a lovely day (and Easter Sunday here) we thought we'd go for a run in the country. I still haven't freed up enough cash to tax the Granada, so we went in the pickup. Just as well we did. In a nearby village I saw a sign pointing to another village, 8km away. The sign also offered a "Nature Trail." Sure enough, as we drove down the narrow lane, green signs appeared, naming various plants that grew alongside. This being Cyprus, the road soon deteriorated into little more than a track, but I wasn't worried, the pickup has enough ground clearance, especially on the 15" wheels. And the views were lovely, even, at several points, almost breathtaking. Eventually we found ourselves at the bottom of a valley, with a river running across our path. I decided it was fordable, and was proved right. However, on the other side there were three tracks, one of which looked likely to take us to the destination village. Except it deteriorated into a jumble of loose rocks and then turned back across the river. So I reversed all the way back to the fork, turned round and retraced the entire Nature Trail, back to the start. In the three years I've had this truck, yesterday was the first time I've taken it anywhere that defeated it, where four-wheel-drive might have succeeded. No pictures, as I was too busy trying not to fall off the mountainside. Sorry. Once back on terra firma we headed off for a tour of some other villages and found four of them having Easter festivals, including the village we used to live in.

I also saw several laid-up cars but couldn't get photos for various reasons, mostly having a Cypriot up my backside in a Merc or a Golf. Still, it was a delightful afternoon. Greenlaning, fording, beautiful scenery, village festivities and sunshine. :D

Well, today I tried to go to work, but I got sent home as soon as they saw me limping. Anyhow, after dropping one of the day-shift lads from work off to the gym I set about making my way from an unfamiliar part of Smethwick, on the way back I remembered a mk2 K-reg Rover Sterling not far from where I was, I thought I'd try and see if it was at home, surely enough it was, the owner had seemingly just been dropped off in a Black Jaguar S-type Sport, I got out of my car and saw this rather familiar face, the man, a suited up middle-aged man in his 50s came over as I started to talk to him about his car.

He told me that he was on the search for some parts as he is looking to restore it, as he told me this I noticed he had a 'Birmingham City Council' badge on and his face seemed quite familiar, but I just couldnt think who it was, he seemed to be in a bit of a rush anyway.

Anyhow, after I got home, I did a bit of research and found that the man I'd been talking to was the leader of Birmingham City Council Mike Whitby, and the car used to belong to his brother-in-law - A test driver for Rover.:lol:
