Indeed, I think BMW have put in a sterling effort for fail of the decade...

We need to hammer a smaller question over that, in orded to get the correct size answer.

At the end of 18 pages of driveling tripe

I knew I would regret asking!

I don't know if I mentioned this at the time, but anyway

A few months ago I was down at my mates garage - he pretty much services all the VAG taxis in rotherham/sheffield

A customer comes in for some rear shockers on his octavia (290k miles, gold, vinyl seat covers and ripspeed DVD player) and mentions that the night before he was woken up by some woman kicking off, and she has scratched something on his bonnet, asking how much it would cost to repaint.

Him and my mate spend some time looking at it trying to work out what it says. Neither of them could make sense of it. - I was busy servicing a passat so only overheard this while waiting for the diesel filter to drain.

I finish the passat, fit this guys rear dampers and get his car off the lift.

I walk over and read the bonnet. "BIG TOOTH MAN SLAG" it says. Owner comes over. He has massive great big teeth, and is dressed like "the hoff" but in the late 90s era.

What spurred this on was I just saw him pull up outside the pub to pick someone up, with that still scrawled in the bonnet. I assume he's still not worked out what it said.

Enjoy the read, hehe!

On this subject, quite a few of my real-world mates (including some that have probably never even heard of autoshite) are now using the "hammer a smaller xxx over it" meme, or similar, after hearing me & a few others using it...

We might have to hammer an even smaller country over Holland, it's OMG SNOWCHAOS again. A couple of inches and hey presto, over 800 km of traffic jams...

£32 at each end of the bike and you're sorted - what's the problem???:wink::wink:

The webuyanycar ad that shows a BMW 3 series going nowhere in a bit of snow, complete with dash traction control light flashing :D

(Just seen on ITV2 ad break)

That firms' ads are normally gruesome, but this one shows someone at the agency has a sense of humour, maybe the inspiration is bitter(!) personal experience.

It's Friday, August 10th 1984 and optimism has swept the nation...

I've had a long, hard, very cold day at work, but now I have had my tea and a bath, and have a warm fire, a steel guitar and a glass or two of asda's finest* wine I feel a lot happier.

enjoy.

Particularly as I'm gonna fix one of the neighbours cars, a mark 1 Fuckass. She skidded it into a grass bank and duffed the front bumper, grille, both headlamps and the numberplate, thankfully no metal damage. All the bits bar the numberplate from Teh Scrappy for £65, and the bumper is the right colour.

They're brilliant things Andy, my neighbour has the Vauxhall one on his laptop and can do all kinds with it including coding keys now. Can you order them off the web or something do you know as could do with a few different makes?

Cheers.

Please has anyone a unwanted mig welder, doesn't matter if its faulty. I have a 1979 Saab 99 and rather than filling the panels I would like to try my hand at welding new metal in. I can collect anywhere thank you

Might point him in the direction of here...

Almost forgot. Kate and I were at an engagement party on Friday night. One of my mates who was there said to me "Here, do you want 2 auld camcorders? We got some new thing with a hard disk in it. I knew you'd be here so I brought the oul ones with me. They're in the car"

Samsung VP-L500 Hi-8 (non digital) and JVC GR-DVL365EK miniDV with Firewire. Loads of tapes for both, most unopened. Both cameras working.

The Samsung one is wonderfully shitey and generates a picture on a par with my 1980s Panasonic M3 full size VHS. The JVC one is really good, the picture and (stereo) sound is fantastic, and it has a remote. Wonder if I can get it fitted to the Suzuki

Took the Panda 4x4 out this morning to have a razz about down the country lanes in the snow. :D

I came upon this abandoned in a hedge bottom. I thought it would be rude not to take a couple of snaps....

Sorry to twat on about it, but this Merc I've got makes me grin. It feels like what I'd imagine a 'proper' grand tourer should be and just has something about it that makes me not want to get out of it.

Comparing it to other cars I've had recently the 'X' type was ok and the 'S' type was nice in a sort of 'gentleman's lounge' type way, but the Merc just feels like a different league and is nicer to drive.
