At work. There's 14 of us in today (peak time of year - there's usually 4 or 5 on weekends) so we've had a top-brass funded free raffle. Free bottle of red! Hussar!

Only 4 hours to go...

Love these. There's a jumper decorated with 'flags of the UN' which makes the same... uh, error.

SomethingAwful has a 70 page thread of Chinese tat & knockoffs, my favourite is this one:

Boss clearly knows how to keep the staff happy at Christmas. As usual no Christmas bonus (I work for a Yorkshireman with short arms and deep pockets), so for my Boxing Day Rail Replacement shift... I've managed to wangle our Tiger :D:D:D:D:D

Sounds like my old boss when I was on the coaches. Tight, short arsed git he was! My motor had a cheapo so called private plate on that started RIL, and came from Scotland..It was a shed, but would go off the clock.

Might've been one of ours... wasn't RIL 3691 perchance?! I think RIL 3693 died with our Bedford, and 3692 is now on a Van Hool...

Nah, it came from McKewans (B7R Prima S64KSM), and the reg was transferred from an AEC Reliance that they had, which went for scrap whilst I worked there. Shame as it was an ex Green Line Duple, and left the yard under its own steam.

I nk all the motors that came out of Plaxton (...or could be Leyland) for a while had RIL plates. Regardless, those old Leylands are class.

Just got back from walking the dog. There are some set aside fields just outside the village that run alongside an unlit country lane.Whilst out I met with a friend who owns a deerhound so we are walking in the field and the dogs are off their leads and mooching about.Oh yeah, it's dark and neither of us has a torch as the dogs don't stray far.Up ahead I spot a light which turns out to be the interior light of a car parked at the entrance to the field we are in.We see there is a young girl in the passenger's seat smoking and a young lad in the driver's seat.We can hear he is talking on the 'phone and his window is completely down. Now with the light on in an area of darkness you can't really see anything outside so when Amos, the deerhound, pokes his whole head through the open window to say hello the young lad is facing the other way.As he turns and comes face to face with the dirty great head of a dirty great dog I'm sure I heard his head hit the roof as he jumped out of his seat.

The young couple saw the funny side of it in the end.

There's a field next to my house, which was being used by a scaffolding contractor when we moved in. He disappeared, and I later heard he was in prison. Meanwhile the field was full of assorted timber left by him: ply boards, 3x3 skids of various lengths, etc. Today some of the locals started clearing the field, so I collared one and asked for some of the wood their JCB was shovelling up, if it was going for scrap; if you're going to burn it, it might as well be heating someone's house, right? Cue a happy half-hour chucking wood over the fence into my drive, and the discovery of a big stack of 3x3 that I can load into my pickup in the morning. Even without that, I now have enough free wood :D to account for at least two days of power-sawing before I can stack it up for my fire. Should last the winter!

Also, took the puppies to the vet this morning for a checkup; not only are they fine, but they were also admired and cooed over by all and sundry. :D

Show us the puppies!!

Hello Timmy! Would you like to see some puppies????

Here's a grin.

For the first time this festive season I'm having some time to myself.

Autoshite on the PC, Don Henley's End Of The Innocence album is on the CD player and I'm enjoying a few pints of Kataba (half a pint of red wine and half a pint of coke served in a pint glass).

:D:D:D

I haven't uploaded the most recent shots yet, tomorrow maybe; certainly soon. These pups are just a big grin all day!

Had a few pints last night, met up with a few old faces and managed to get home at a reasonable hour and not get as pissed as normal.

Family member called today to show me their new BMW 5 series. It's brown. With a brown leather interior and sensible size alloys.

It's actually quite nice. I was surprised.

Ridiculous having the interwebz available whilst driving, but it made me grin when the reception turned out to be pretty crap.

my sister got me a stylophone for christmas!

Posted

Thats 'Stylophonic' as the mad, bearded Aussie always used to say. I had one as a kid, but got very bored of it.

Posted

Bored? I could never get bored with something that makes music. The vid is literally the first thing I did after finding some batteries for it and I've never played one before. It's so easy it's funny.

Posted

As a kid I was more intertested in taking stuff to bits and building stuff, and wasn't really into music. Currently though, I would love a decent keyboard, that I could rig up to the computer.

Some people have the language gene and have an ability with foreign languages. There must also be a music gene as well and I have neither because despite being able to touch type, I am hopeless on musical keyboards. You sir are a natural musician, will you be accompanying yourself on multi-track recordings?

I did have guitar lessons as a kid but there was a bigger boy who was so much better I became disheartened with my inability. I was given his racing bike by his Dad many years later though. His name was Peter Frampton by the way. I wish I still had that bike.
