Oooh! Can't wait for the DVD to arrive now!

Talking of 60s/70s 'dollybirds', a couple of years ago I went to theatre in St Albans to listen to a 'talk' given by Valerie Leon, about her life in film and TV. That sort of thing is right up my street, especially as she basically did f**k all apart from flash her boobs in a couple of Carry-Ons and some old TV stuff......oh, and the Hai Karate ads of course!!!!

If you like what you get, consider this as your next purchase

This fella is seriously cool, drives an IMP around 60s London and is the dogs nuts.

Some of these shows get repeated on ITV4, keep a look out.

Man In A Suitcase was brilliant. I grew up watching all these cop/spy shows in the 60s and could happily carry on watching them for a long time yet. The music was usually excellent too... MIAS will be familiar to younger viewers as Chris Evans' choice for TFI Friday!

The Baron was supposedly an antique dealer, but he did seem to get into some interesting adventures. Not quite as suave as The Saint or John Steed, but aiming for it.

Yes, im into all that too.I think the Baron was an early 70s show. 99% of those shows were shot at Elstree IIRC? lots of sharing of sets and the scenes when the heroes were in "Europe" were normally shot at the studios or in the back lanes of Borehamwood, I think. There used to be a Ciroen Ami that was LHD and seemed to appear in different shows when it called for someone to be followed or chased. Some of it was, we have to concede, uber shite but, watching reruns is quaint. Department S springs to mind and, of course, The Protectors. For an autoshite enthusiast, there is enough tin in those shows to keep you fully errect for at least six months. :D

Danger man? Class!!!! I dont think the link was confirmed but it was always assumed that "John Drake" was The Prisoner?

The Baron was 1966... I've heard the John Drake/Prisoner rumour too, it's usually dismissed as character coincidence but I would happily believe it. From the early 60s up to about 1972/3 these shows ruled! There was a brief golden period after, starting with The Sweeney and ending with The Professionals, then.... what? Show me something that's been able to live up to all that lush promise.

been vegan for over a year, but thought I could cope with the car having leather seats but cant. Seeing as I am also an animal rights campaigner, it feels a bit wrong to then get into a car with leather seats

That has to be one of the worse reasons I've ever heard for selling a car!

Vegan friends wont get into the car,

That has to be one of the biggest selling points for any car ever. How brilliant is that? Buy a shonky old Saab with a few cows that have given fabulous service to motoring for the 20 years since their deaths and not only does the car look, feel and smell better but you don't need to give lifts to Vegans.

I'm gonna put that in the ad next time I flog one of my fleet. That has properly cheered me up.

Presumably he never has to wear smart, or protective, footwear then?

I know you hate diesels Pete, but the saving grace of recent legislation that all diesel must contain a small proportion of bio-diesel is that some of that biodiesel will be made from animal fat!:twisted:

I can understand his stance to be honest and sort of applaud him for it, but it's just odd that he bought the car knowing it had leather seats in the first place.

I've never heard of vegans obecting to 20+ yr-old car seats before, it sounds faintly (completely) ridiculous. if they are that bad he oughta rip them out, burn them and put some nice ethical man-made fabric seats in instead, not try to make a profit out of them. I call 'total and utter bollocks, the likes of which you only hear a few times in your lifetime'.
