What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Popped over to Colindale yesterday, got very pissed off at twat after twat driving like complete arses, usual North London stuff, on the way home through a busy dual lane stretch in Harrow, stopped behind a new Fiesta (I think it was) at a red light, lights changed and as I took off I immediately had to brake sharpish as an absolute wanker BMW barges in front from my right, then hits the Fiesta smartly up the arse. superb.

So shit \ fugly but brilliant at the same time.

Speaking to the press, Pete - M of Liverpool said he was 'horrified' at the news.

It turns out it's one of the earliest 460 Turbos left in the country. It was registered new shortly after the 460 model itself was launched. It also had 66k as collected, full service history from new, appalling tyres all round and a truly shagged throttle cable. The previous owner thought I was borderline insane to travel 230 miles to collect a 400 series Volvo and amended his price accordingly.

In case you haven't guessed, I really like it. Should go well with the Amazon, what with them both having YO registrations..........

It's truly shit round the bends though. The shocks \ bushes creak like a barn door in a gale, the brakes are well and truly past it and there's a seal missing from the passenger door. That said, everything electric works (including the Information Centre) and it goes like a stabbed rat in second and third.

In a BM, they are normally found glued to the seats!

Pete-M of Liverpool would like to point out that 'worries for the sanity' of Mr J.Watanape of TUOS escalated recently following the purchase of three Dutch, Renault engined "Volvos" in under twelve months. Watanape's latest purchase, a Volvo 460 Turbo is suspected to have been purchased as a result of brainwashing by extremists from the car buying arm of Al-Autoshiiti. A spokesman for Al-autoshitti denies any involvement stating that "we have standards, y'know. We're having bugger all to do with this one, so when that bloody Renault engine goes bang it's nothing to do with us".

There's a nice two-page guide to the Matra Rancho in Classic Car Buyer this week (on sale tomorrow). I didn't write it and had no idea it was going to be in there. Has some very nice pictures of a metallic gold one. It has made me grin.

Also making me grin is spending £3.29 to buy a SATA caddy on Ebay. It was a desperate attempt to try and salvage some pictures from my old laptop's faulty hard drive - especially the ones required for a feature! Happily I can report that I've saved those pictures, and those from a relative's wedding that I thought I'd lost. I'll see what else I can salvage later...

I have also learnt the importance of doing back-ups. Most of my pictures and documents were ok because I did a back-up in March. That isn't often enough though! My work documents are copied up to the old internet somewhere, so they were never in danger. Wonder if it's worth investing in something similar for my pictures... (currently about 60Gb worth and 31,000 images!).

That's one hell of a porn collection.

That's what I use Flickr for. Uploads straight from my phone, and everything else from my PC with minimal fuss. Also provides pretty linking/sharing and eternal backups, subject to them not going bust without warning, which I reckon is fairly unlikely.

I've got a hard-drive - that's what I backed up to in March. I should do that more often but I'm wary of only having one back-up anyway. I'll get more pics on Flickr I think.

... and use the Shiters choice of backup exec - Microsoft SyncToy - easy to use and free gratis. (Free download from microsoft.com)

If you don't have an external drive what exactly do you do to create a back up?? (maybe this should be in the stupid questions thread?)
