What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Took X1/9 for MoT today. Firstly, just being able to drive it along the coast road at Coral Bay... :D but secondly: it passed! :D:D Got it home, with the top off, and Mrs Ramrod tried it for size. She can get in and out fine, and manage all the controls. So there we are, a two-classic family, plus project! A job would come in right handy now to pay for all this high living....

This makes me grin, as I have now found the perfect excuse to point and laugh a stupid brand whores. Why oh why oh why would anybody pay £30,000 for a toyota washing machine?

Farting. Er indoors has just called me a "minger of the highest order". Yes. Result.

My mate borrowed my anglegrinder on Wednesday and, to be fair, had it back here in a couple of hours. Yesterday I sampled the result, as he'd used it to slice open an old oil drum to make a barbecue. Old oil drum, redundant shop fitting as a stand, which also supplied the grilles. That's an Autoshite bbq if ever I saw one! :D (This is the mate with the Mk3 Cortina streetracer :D )

Good luck, Sir Bol. You've put in the work on that one (as well as all the others)

Grin-worthy phone call today relating to Autofive's sadly deceased 'tina.

I had a visit yesterday from the insurance assesor, who was a bit younger and considerably more fashionable than the car, he arrived in a lowered T4 van with alloys on (and was wearing shorts, vans, designer shades, the works...) and spent 20 minutes looking at the tina with a faint air of disgust. We did agree that it was beyond economic repair, he asked my opinion of the value and I gave him an honest answer.

This afternoon a guy rang from the insurance company to query the amount given for pre-accident value, and some of the comments he made about the conditon of the car. Very poor and excessively rusty about sums it up... he put the value down as £250. Insurance guy was quite frank about it, he said the assesor doesn't know his arse from his elbow and wanted me to value it instead. We changed the condition to "average" (for a high miles 30 year old ford...) and doubled the value. A5 can keep the car for spares (probably for free) as copart don't want it, he should get a cheque from them fairly soon. :)

im grinning about the cortina

but not the scimitar, or the low ignition point of petrol

^^Oh 'eck, another disaster?????

Posted

No, an almost disaster... A5 will probably now tell you why you shouldn't use an old pond pump to remove fuel from a car, and also what it feels like to be on fire a bit :o

ps, I was out collecting a car....

the random kindness and generosity of people has bowled me over today.

People running around all over the midlands and staying up late titting about with cars for me, just so I can spend most of the weekend asleep* and be presented with a free old triumph at some point on sunday. Blimey.:mrgreen:

*in between 12 hour night shifts, admittedly

BumbleBee Auctions. - http://www.bumblebeeauctions.co.uk/XcAuctionPro.asp

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I thought I'd give this a go.

Despite the fact I'd never see how it progresses because I don't do this thread.

A 'schoolfriend / acquaintance' runs this bizarre auction site where no-one ever bids & stuff sells for fuck all.

Its apparently police stolen / recovered type shite

& it's all in the South West with no postage

a bit of a loser really unless you live in the South West and can collect!

But Hey,

I thought I'd stick it on here

someone local might be able to make use of it.

Let me know If you're local & can flog the stuff on with a couple of quid for your trouble etc.

The fact I'm still alive after I fell asleep with a massive slab of pork being cooked in low fire...Obviously my own fault but, while the building sports a big sign informing people that 'SMOKING IN THIS BUILDING IS PROHIBITED BY LAW', flats are not equipped with smoke detectors so I made a narrow escape by waking up in a cloud of haze!

CO really is the silent killer- after waking up, and despite the haze around me, it took me a good couple of minutes to notice that something was amiss!

I'll go down wilko to buy a smoke detector just in case....

Seeing an FSO POLENEZ in the flesh for the first time last night made me grin tremendously. Unfortunately I was at work so couldn't get any pictures, but it was the same shade of blue as the one saved by RichieG on here a few months ago and looked really tidy as well 8)

Horrible night shift, sod all sleep yesterday cos it was a billion degrees. Get to go home in 20 mins, then a couple of hours sleep, then with a bit of luck and a lot of assistance from Craig_the_Princess of this very parish, my new arrival should turn up to wake me. Excited/terrified in equal measure, cos there's every chance it'll be completely fucked. Fingers crossed...
