Virgin Media finally realising that I'd like some internet in exchange for the money I give them....I'm back folks (That'll send this to the grumpy thread, I suspect)

UK finally allows wifey to stay another 2 years. :D Very very happy indeed. It took a complex analysis on a spreadsheet of our last 12 month's water bill to decide 2 people were living in our house. That bit belongs in the Grumpy thread, but today's news is grin, not grump.Happy Christmas to you all - grumpy or not.

Excellent news, congrats on that.

Yeah good news Tom, well done.Bloke at colleges wife is having similar trouble getting over here. She has started writing letters criticising the Chinese govt - probably not a good idea.

RATM for Christmas Number 1.I know it's been mentioned before, but they are my all-time favourite band and it is great to have some real music in the charts, instead of the usual X Factor soppy shit. :D

I'm also into RATM (among MANY other things) but I really didn't expect it to be No.1 at Zmas!Initially I couldn't give a stuff but found myself with a bit of glee when I heard Killing in the name.. on Radio 1. For me it was just that the expected inevitability that the X factor winner necessarily becomes No1 every time leaves a bad taste - and that it was stopped for once showed a wee shard of hope for culture as it is (don't think it matters if it's RATM or whatever just so long as it wasn't the X factor thing)Delighted! I honestly thought things like No. 1 best seller charts were rigged!

This story from the US cheered me up: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8423705.stm

Some plebs were chucking snowballs about (and were really a bit old to be, if you ask me) and decided they'd lob a few at some guy who was stuck in his motor. Unfortunately for them, he was an annoyed copper and he pulled a gun out. Didn't shoot anyone, but it might make them think a bit in future. Nice one copper!

For the benefit of others here is what Hirst read.

Video taken at the scene shows people pelting a man with snowballs after his car, a 1972 Ford LTD, gets stuck in the snow.

Folowing a Xantia through town today with utterly borked rear suspension, resulting in comedy-style amounts of bounce every time the tyres rolled over a small pebble, even at walking speed. I'm surprised the rear wheels actually stayed on the ground. By the way, I don't wish to imply any ridicule or dislike of '90s Citroens, I love them, it just made me laugh like a nutter for the 10 minutes I was following it for. Also, reduced Jim Beam Black at Tescos. That has made me very happy this week.

I've just had a small tumbler of Tesco's cheapest, er sorry, finest cooking sherry, bought for the purposes of "feeding" the Christmas cake. Took me back a hundred years to being 16 on the way to the school disco drinking cheapo sherry out of paper cups. Glorious happy days! :D

The AA pleased me very much last night. Bluebird was naughty and wouldn’t start due to it being flooded (I think due to me stopping very shortly after I’d first started it, so it was dumping a lot of fuel in when on choke as I switched off).Chap at the call centre was very friendly, an older guy who had once a Bluebird himself. He said the local agent would be about 45mins, which I thought was pretty good, but he turned up in about 15mins and was as friendly and helpful as one could wish for.Top marks to all concerned. Except me, though at least I do now know how to start it when it’s flooded (foot flat on the floor, I’d been turning it over trying not to use any throttle). In 20+ years of driving it’d never happened to me before.Even in the hard frost this morning the Bluebird did still start quite happily, so I think last night was just a freak happening. There’s another reason to be cheerful.Oh, as a non-shite related amusing thing, one of the alternative theme tunes for the “Upshares, Downshares†slot on Radio 4’s PM made me laugh a lot. It was some kind of ‘90s dance style.

Watching chav boy trying to race an Astra VXR away from several successive junctions. In a P plate 1.3 Fiesta.Congratulations, dozens of people just saw you make a complete tit of yourself. Winding down the window and wildly waving your hands about at the second set of lights was a great comedy touch. Nice work :lol::lol:

Models I'd ordered a wee while back as a birthday present turned up :D

Four days off next, and my birthday tomorrow. Won't mention my age, because this is the positive thread.

/\Won't mention your age? You're only about bloody 23 you git, I'd be mentioning my age all over the shop if I were as young as you  Last night ITV4 made me happy with an episode of Minder. And the 'proper' minder when Tel was in it too.And today I'm happy as last day at work (back on Tuesday though), the kids are RLY HPPY PPL M8 and it's Christmas tomorrow 8)

The roads around here are in shit state, cars lying around all over the shop, including a very crashed Santa Fe.

HE, on the other hand, aint missed a beat (or a corner apex!)

I've owned this car for nearly 8 years and he STILL makes me grin.

Well, I was going to have to finish work early today due to our strange policy of forcing everyone to leave the building early on the last day, but to take it in your own time. This meant I would have to use half a day annual leave as my flexitime is always knackered. However, the word has come down from the top and we'll now be leaving at 2pm due to "adverse weather conditions". Meaning I still leave early, but I get a full day's pay and don't have to use my own time up. What a result, I'm well chuffed!

I was expecting to have to put this on the Grumpy thread, but no ...Went to Asda (and Tesco) this morning for the nosh. Not exactly deserted, but all the kind people seem to have done their shop already.Result!

I swear to God there was a cat that we used to see when my lad had a paper round that was the spitter of that top on. He even started coming up top us when we christened him Adolf.

Loving christmas tv so far. Walked in from work last night (Chrissy eve ) and flicked on the tv..came on and I watched a green mini shunt a blue Reliant from a parking space, turned out to be a compilation of the best of bean and I saw some very funny bits I had never seen. It's 7.30 am on Christmas day now. Have been watching the superb Cirque de Soliel for the last hour( my usual get up for work time is 5 so its a late start).Forecast for today is 25 deg C. and it's already perfect. Off to Hobbitonfor a family gathering and too much to eat.
