Out of nowhere an email asking about my old Alfa 155 Q4. The current owner wanted some background as it's nearly back on the road, which is very nice to hear

I just had the sewing machine out to hem some curtains. This always makes me grin because I like its simplicity, and the wonderful noise it makes. (for noise, see

Also grin-worthy is that for the first time in over a year there is paper on the walls in the front room. No skirting boards yet.... but we have wallpaper!

where are they coming from?? I think it needs further investigation!

Oooh, foot operated Singer? We've got the metal bit, but not an actual sewing machine. My wife was wondering if she could convert her electric machine to foot power...(or if anyone has a foot-operated one, do let me know!). I love my wife's complete dislike of modernity!

An interesting avatar there Warren.

I'm over the moon as I just managed to purchase an Airfix Ford Capri for £31 (sounds steep I know but it is a MASSIVE saving), although I am now torn as to whether I should flog it on ebay for £80 or build it.....

[anorak mode] Its the MPC issue (airfix molds and all) so basically the standard kit but with "racing" transfers and some chromed parts[/anorak mode]

I'm going to wait until it arrives to decide on its fate, if it isn't perfect and spotless it'll go in the build pile, if it is perfect it''ll go on the gloating pile (i.e. my desk) for a week and then I'll have a tough decision to make. :?

Some are from the Vintage Erotica Forum and the others are from a couple of other sites.

I only post naughty avatars if there's also a high shite content in the picture, Fuego,Mk4 Escort etc.

I'm carefully looking through a very old Colour Climax film called Hitching A Fuck to try and screen grab a pic featuring the leading lady and her very early Alpine/Simca 1307 but most of my efforts are a bit too fruity to post on here!

It's positively vanilla by comparison!

How about a link to Samba lady then? I'm hunting through the forum looking for it and sooner or later my wife will notice. I'd probably be better off telling her I'm looking for vintage muff, the truth is so much worse.

I have a French, ahem, 'art' film on video that features an interesting use for a Peugeot 304 convertible bonnet and wipers...

I had a real Mr Bridger* moment today. Our local car club held its AGM, at which I presented the trophies for the photo competition I organised in December. So then we got on with a ll the business, reports etc, and the chairman came to his annual award for member of the year. Blow me down... it was me! :D:D:D:D:D So when he's had my name engraved on the shield, I get to keep it until next AGM. I'm still in shock...

*Mr Bridger, for the one person on the planet who's never seen the original, was Noel Coward's prison-based ganster in the real Italian Job movie.

Yesterday afternoon through to this evening, inclusively, has made me grin immensely.

Among other things, I have for the first time: Slept in a Bedford Rascal, Dismantled important parts of a Merc 190 engine and instantly forgotten how to reassemble them, Used a plasma cutter in anger, Inhaled far more rattle-can fumes than was good for me, Got up-close & personal with a Hustler (car), Seen some of the most sexually arousing slotmag-based wheels known to man, and met some truly excellent people from off teh internetz.

Also, I've brought the ground a little closer to my front valance in the name of aesthetics  and by complete accident made my car corner twice as quickly and half as vaguely as it did before

I'm grinning so much, I almost don't mind about the 1.5 litres of oil that spewed violently out of the top of my engine yesterday.

Had a failure to notify letter back in December when I had sent the logbook off in July. Wrote them a stiff letter back but got a response saying you still owe us cash. Wrote back explaining that their demands were based on unicorns and fairies and to stuff it. Letter back today saying actually they are correct but in this exceptional case they will let me off the fine. :D

A set of new plugs and the MR2 no long sounds like an Impreza. Won't know for certain how good it is until I take it to work tomorrow and it fully warms up, but for now I'm pleased as I have other things I need to spend cash on

Isn't it lovely when (fairly major) problems are a nice simple fix! When I got the mx5 I noticed on the way home that at anything over 20% throttle, it misfired it's bollocks off and couldn't pull the knickers off a barmaid. I was worried. Got it home and the plugs looked fine, the leads looked a "bit" old. £18 later and a set of leads fitted it was spot on. I was very relieved because a coilpack would be £120 and I'd just spent the best part of £400 fixing a similar misfire on the 106 I'd just swapped for it!

I must say that one thing I have learnt from cars is the simplest fix is normally the correct one. So many problems are just down to a duff battery/engine being out of tune/split pipe/bad earth as opposed to something terminal
