No,I filled it up and reset computer then drove it for 2.5 miles. Steady speed,not much traffic,only a small uphill section, 1 roundabout and 1 set of lights shown the average there. The instantaneous mpg is so low as it's sat at tickover. In general use the car does around late 30s. I put the pic up as a sort of look what's possible on a long motorway cruise or that ilk sort of scenario.

Fariy nuff. I didn't want to belittle your achievement, it just seemed a bit odd.

 

Still, that is if you trust the trip computer in your motor. Somewhere I have a... hold on...

This is in the old yoyo after filling up and driving to Zagreb (mostly the fairly twisty and hilly old high road, about 25km). it equates to about 48mpg. How did I achieve this? Well, it's simple really, the trip computer is full of shit and reads 1.5-2.5 litres low (looking on the TOC it seems they're all like this). So, not trusting the car's computer, I was measuring it tank to tank instead (across 3 years it was 8.5l/100km if you're interested).

 

On the other hand, the computer in the Pug is so close (always within a tenth or two) I stopped bothering.

While i was waiting a lad in his late 20's,early 30's popped to speak to the guy who has the garage his Qashqai had been in for some work,they must have told him to check and fill his tyres,he was complaining that the steering was light.

Did you do the tyre's?

Yes took it to 65psi.

What,it should be around 32psi.

Wouldn't it be a good idea if we could access the Previous Owners V888 form online? Obvs pay a nominal fee and provide proof of ownership etc, but that would save the DVLA thousands photocopying shitloads of microfiches and posting them out?

A chap in a Zafira in front of me at the free air machine at the local sainsburies did this once, I got the to the machine after he'd been at the poor abused thing for 15 minutes (and as he drove off) to discover it had been set at 65psi - presumably he'd looked at the max pressure reading on the sidewall and then cranked the pressure up to that, like you would with a pushbike.

 

He'd got too far for me to run after him and stop him so presumably he got a million miles per gallon for the next thousand miles before the centre 5mm of tyre wore to the steel bandings with the rest of the tread mysteriously intact, or hit a microscopic imperfection in the road surface and had simultaneous blowout of all 4 tyres.

More and more is being put on-line so I expect the v888 will come on time- quite probably with a fee. Although to be fair some costs have come down. Annual returns to companies house used to be £40 or so. The on line cost is now £13 and takes about five mins.
