Bonus grin. just raided skip of mr. twat. Mr twat who today has had a nice new fake lawn put down. Got an offcut that just happens to be the right size to cover the dead patch that will not grow ever in our grass. Ma will be impressed at my sudden green fingered skillz.

It's 1st October! I just have to pop outside and get something...

Goodbye paper circle!

Goodbye warped plastic holder which won't cling to screen!

Goodbye holders with integral card holder which peel and sag in an unattractive fashion!

Goodbye Post Office staff asking if I want six or twelve months of zero rate tax!

Goodbye special Post Office Biro which fades away completely in less than two months!

Goodbye accidentally damaging the disc a bit while tearing the perforations because they couldn't just give us a circular bit of paper for some reason!

I have a Moon in my kitchen and a fully road legal Xantia outside my window and everything smells ever so slightly of fried food.

Wasnt there a big thread on the blue forum with hi-res pics of various years tax discs?

I thought Fred had posted some pics of old tax discs somewhere.

Amazing, thanks! Gerrards cross too, only up the road! Anyone know what 6 months rent was in 1994?

I tried to look for freds post/website too, had one off her for the old ZX ages ago!

Posted

£71.50 was the figure on the disc.

I meant for a ZX. I'll stick with £71.50 for now though!

Interestingly* enough C180KNK was an 1986 XR2 Fiesta...

Still £71.50, I think - the variable rates didn't come in until the late 90s, although I can't find exactly when.

If anyone comes across a tax disc ending March 1977 hit me up, meanwhile get your laughing gear around this, I can't believe people are already trying to cash in on their old discs.

Holy hell people are bidding the cut out and keep laser ones up to over £25. Who did I tell not to cut theirs out, was it Tayne?

The girl who sits next to me thinks I'm strange now she's seen me cut that disc out. Didn't think I was too strange then I showed her that £25 tax disc on eBay.

I can't laugh at the eBay stuff though, I'd pay more for a hoover that had all it's paperwork, more again if the promo stickers and tags are still intact...

I'm sure my mother used to buy 4 month discs in the 70s. Have I imagined that?

Don't think so, used to come in 4,6, and 12 month flavours IIRC

The holders a bit shit, needed some tape...post-5612-0-26286900-1412169429_thumb.jpg

But when I sell it I could add £££ by describing it as an omgbarnfind, original tax disc still in window...

Shame its either parked at home or here at work, no one will probably notice...

Just taxed the Focus.

I've been trying to come up with a witty alternative to the classic 'TAX IN POST' note for days... I have so far failed :-(

Haven't the knob warblers selling 09/14 "OMG LAST EVER TAX DISC" on eBay not realised that the ones that expired yesterday, were issued 6 months or 12 months ago so are nowhere near "last".

It was me. And they are still intact as I did as you suggested for the two tax discs I had...I copied them at work on the colour copier and put the copies in the windscreens...I even kept the envelopes they came in...

Can't believe that E-bay price...Cheers Conrad... :-D :-D :-D
