What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Thats pretty good MPG for a 2.3 auto;my Sierra 2.0 DOHC auto only averages about 22 !

I got 29.6 out the mondeo's last tankful, calculated properly, not using the trip computer which calculated a slightly optimistic figure of 31.8

Bloody hell, Bolls, that ain't bad for one of those. I've never managed more than 25ish from a V6 Mondeo. My brother managed 17.5 mpg over 180,000 miles in one!!

i think a padded room would be needed to get 1200 notes

vegan hunt sab. assumes he can make about 700 quid form an old beemer

Good luck to him. None of us would complain if we got something cheap enough and managed to knock it on for a few quid, and he has done some work to it. I'd have thought sorting out the rattly engine was enough in itself to see him right for a few quid more as it must have put quite a few people off. Whether it's actually worth £1,200 or not is probably a matter of opinion, but it's not my money so I don't care!

Luckily padded cells are generally of a vinyl finish rather than leather.

Nice car though, about £750s worth now I would say.

NO MOAR CYBERBULLYING PLZ!

To be fair it looks pretty freaking decent, I would value it at a fair chunk more than 400 notes. He's not the most successful retailer old PS though is he so who knows how much it will actually go for in the end. Anyway it looks great.

Maybe he's starting high and trying his luck - why advertise at £600 if someone might have been looking for that exact car all their life and give you a few hundred more? If there's no rush to sell, drop £100 every month and see what you get.

I've had good results like that - £250 Audi from the breakers, drive it till the clutch goes and lob it on ebay at a quite frankly laughable £700. Some guy was falling over himself to come and see it, and offered £650 as seemingly nobody likes to pay full asking price. I presume he was jizzing himself as he drove off in it, I don't know as I was inside the house laughing myself silly.

This turned up yesterday:

$(KGrHqJ,!jYFCQF!DJTWBQti4Efl8w~~60_58.JPG

A Peco Red Bullet "COMP 4" straight-through silencer, just like I had on my second Metro in 1993 - at certain revs and part throttle, it wasn't too loud but it would set off some car alarms as you drove past!

Then there's these, the set of 4 185/55r15 winter tyres bought last night from eBay (BIN) for £120:

$(KGrHqZ,!i4FCq1w7NLJBQw41ky8Ww~~60_58.JPG

Picked them up this evening from Bramley in Leeds, they were made in 2010 and have 6-7mm of tread on them. I will be speaking to the tame garage tomorrow about fitment :D !

Are they for the Cav?

Today I have been occasionally remembering some of yesterday. It was the unofficial works piss up and despite being marked down as 'likely to go home early' I managed 2.00pm-just before 11.00pm on the sauce, with about 15 minutes in Maccy D's as a break and ended up 'winning' the longest out virtual award. Just been having a laugh as we recalled 'international' darts (versus some Welsh people) which we won and the cheats/lightweights we caught drinking halves.

Had a good old grin today. Went up into the loft to get the tree out, and needed to put some car boot stuff up there since there's zero chance of getting to a dry field this side of Easter.

Saw some interesting looking stuff.... boxes with connectors on the back. RCA connectors. Had a poke and found....

Sony TC209SD tape deck

Sony PS333 Turntable

Sony TA5650 Amp

Sony ST5160 Tuner

All seemingly early-to-mid 70s stuff. No speakers but I've got some Eltax ones, pretty much all that's left of my old hifi. Win!! Might drag it all down after Christmas and see if it works.....

Also found a Serpent CB Radio with mic,

Lovely, but you need to get some nice big old woofly 70's ones. I made the mistake of smashing up two pairs some years ago (the orginal Hitachi branded-Goodmans built ones that came with my parents big old 1978 Hitachi music centre, and a very nice pair of Teledyne Acoustic Research AR80s). The big old Hitachi has none of its 70s warmth through modern Mission speakers that know what they're talking about.

Yes. The new (casual) job (the first in 2 years :D) as a Royal Mail postal sorter is 20-odd miles away and the elsewhere mentioned shenanigans of lack-of insurance NCD has meant that the Cavalier is now in full front-line duty until I can sot a proper winter rat out. The job's great too, ok it doesn't pay much, but I've done much, much worse jobs. It's like playing patience with an added postcode-anorak element, and you can listen to your mp3/tape player. 6:15am starts - the poor dog doesn't know what hits him when I wake him up at 5 to go for a walk! - Sundays and Mondays off, so I'm going to the library tomorrow to see what audio books they have and stock up on those.

He 'helpfully' suggests this is step one:

Then he piss arses about going on about adding ingredients, mixing and discharge. Note though how the picture clearly shows him using new veg oil.

New oil costs about £1.00 per litre minimum, then there's 'just' £300 for his plastic dustbin with a tap and you, yes, YOU can produce fuel at only 48p per litre. Handily enough there's no mention that some cars won't run on this for long without fucking them up.

I say use step one and save yourself £299.

I'd avoid that purely on the basis that the bloke in the black shirt looks like a total dickhead, you know, the type you'd like to smack his face.

Make snap judgments? Moi?

Was in Crewe Tesco car park this morning, an old Subaru with four yoofs on board screeched in closely followed, and clearly being chased by, a 1990 Micra. After a couple of laps of the understore car park the Micra boxed the lads in and driver gets out... A grey haired lady well past 70! She grabbed a shopping trolley from the trolley park next to her and rammed it several times into the Subaru. She was properly angry! Screaming abuse etc.

No idea what they had done to her, traffic was awful, with long queues everywhere, presumably they had cut her up or something...

The lads didnt know where to look etc. proper dented their car too.

Made me grin!

Have noticed that quite often the angry intolerant drivers seem to be in newish expensive stuff, Audis, BMW X5, etc.

God forbid that you ever slow them down by more than 2 milliseconds. Latest was a Milf in a white Audi A6 in Newcastle this morning. Traffic light changed to amber, then... Paaaaarppp! Blowing the horn because I didn't set off, on amber... Plus she had a mobile phone clasped to her ear and was eating a bag of crisps!

Is it me?

So its not okay to do it in an Audi etc but its proper funny in a Micra of you are old?

Given the situation, yes! Was funny. Maybe you had to be there etc...

Daughter came home from school today (she's 14), and said she'd had a row with a classmate, here is her winning put down line that left the other girl speechless (apparently)

"You're so ugly even your vibrator can't get an erection"

Made me laugh anyway.
