Cavcraft 2k18... Alto Passo Testo

Aye I'm pretty sure it is. It's got a slightly different dashboard and satnav that doesn't know what the m74 is.

I was looking at these before I decided I couldn’t pass up the mondeo. Surprisingly decent big lumps of metal.

Very comfy too. That is the facelift with a slightly different dash layout and the 3.7.

11 & 42 please on the ML.

Dreadful!

Fuck. My family bought an ML350 petrol back in 2002. It lasted a year before it was replaced with the E61 BMW estate that still gives me nightmares.

Posted

Awful. MBs worst car from their worst period in history. With eye watering VED and running costs and in dull dull silver.

Congratulations, you are now king of the council estate.

Good luck selling that on.

These were made in 'merica right?

This is cavcraft, there will be a plan or the bridge.

Apart from the collapsing driveshaft how does it drive Billeh? I was toying with a diesel one of these for omgsnokaos, or shits and giggles ovroading.

Not very good at maths, but if calculations correct, a year's RFL equates to about 66% of the purchase price.

It sounds like you can't lose at the purchase price. Crack on, and keep us updated!

A bit 'boaty' but insane when you welly it. So far have only been 16 miles home in the absolute pissing rain on the motorway. Was going to use it to collect the C50 today (50 mile round trip) but it'd probably have bankrupted several small countries, so took the Transit instead.

Incorrect. You'd need an X5 for that. Some wankerous 3.0d shitbox with knock-kneed rear wheels due to fucked bushes, just to make this disgusting vehicle even more* offensive.

The ML is nowhere near as grim. A mate bought a tidy running ML500 recently for under a grand. They're alright really.

50/50, that's better than usual for Cavcraft ;)

I like that Merc 4x4. There i said it. I would fell a right winner wafting about with that, while people sit and watch bargain hunt on dvd in the back.

Shitting hell, there was a touch of juice in it when I collected it, so added about £3's worth out of a can, then a tenner down the road. Don't about 18 miles (perhaps not quite* driving it as economically as possible) and that's a fair chunk of it gone.

Pros: served someone in a Skoda off at the lights. The 'lady' in the 66 plate LandRover who came barrelling down the narrow street towards me found out having a big car only works if the other person doesn't have a car that's just as big and is about 300 times shittier.

Cons: That noise is annoying. Fuel economy.

Extra pros: Listening to...

...3/4 full tilt on the stereo drowned out the annoying noise.

I've used £60 in fuel in 11 days and a sniff under 270 miles in the LS400.

The range got down to 48 miles and I bottled it because unfamiliar car. I've just put £70 in it and the needle shot up to exactly three quarters.

Welcome to the V8 club, m9.

I'd chance a random or two, depending on price.

V6 I'm afraid. M112 engine:

The E37 is a 3.7 L (3,724 cc) version. It retains the 84 mm stroke of the E320 but is bored to 97 mm. Output is 235 hp ECE (173 kW) to 245 ECE (180 kW) at 5750 rpm with 254 ft.lbf (344 Nm) of torque at 3000-4500 rpm. The compression ratio is 10.0:1.

Bought one of these Mercs off my brother for our Lass to use for a few months inbetween jobs and company cars, have to say never let her down, but it had been properly serviced by him and us, flogged it at a smoll loss, but frankly not bothered as always had a sneaking suspicion it was going to shit itself sooner rather than later!

We have Sim's old Lexus rx300 now as spare car, despite the odd electrical quirk, it feels like ten times the build quality for similar price, well bought anyhow Sir, from a newly converted fan of the Range Rover P38, living dangerously is for winners :)

Right, where are up to? The 'spares' Corsa has gone, hopefully not tempting fate with that. Daughter's Corsa went straight through the test, ditto my Vectra. Have a picture of everyone's favourite* make/model of car with everyone's favourite* person almost stroking everyone's favourite dog to celebrate...

What a pile of shit, they're not bad motors at all. I had a 270cdi for nigh on ten years and it had two FTP's in that time both down to me not looking after it. They go anywhere, watch the EWE-TUBE videos comparing it to an X5 off road, mine never got stuck anywhere. They also tow brilliantly, stand up ridiculously well in a crash and although they rust on the outside, underneath they're solid.

Downsides are they're heavy on bushes and brakes but they're a big car.

I'd love another, this engine would be my choice too but it would need to be a run out model in black.

They're just at the stage of cannon fodder now but the majority of expensive* failures on them can be bypassed to work fine with very little ingenuity.

Posted

I would argue the old A class they made is their worst ever effort.

Hmmm. You may be right there.

The M is still from the era of North American quality Mercedes opposed to the earlier West German Kervolity.

Also my only experience of them was moving one out of the way in a car park.

I didn't like it, I thought it felt cheap.

But then it was my bosses, and I didn't like him. He definitely was cheap.

I'll be shot for treason. But that picture Just reminds me how much I love* The Royal family and don't want to ever change the status quo.
