Sometimes they don't drag large parcels around on their trolleys, they just take out 'sorry you were out' notes with them because most people aren't in to accept delivery.  Been caught out by this one a time or two.

I can vouch for this.  Been at home for the last two weeks cos ruptured Achilles tendon.  Couple of days ago hear the letters coming through the door.  Amongst which is one of their "we tried to deliver something but really can't be arsed so go fetch it yourself" cards.  Bastards didn't even knock on the door or ring the bell and probably saw me in the lounge as they walked past the front window.  Seriously thinking of going round their gaff on Saturday afternoon (when they're closed) and posting a "I came to collect my parcel but you dozy bastards had effed off home card" through their door.

I decided to check the levels in the mighty KV6 this morning... and it needed a couple of litres of coolant .  Oil is clean, no steam from tailpipe, and it drives fine.  I am REMAINING CALM, it's just nature's way of telling me to start thinking about another car.

A KV6 powered 800?

My Sterling seems to survive just having water dumped in the expansion tank. It needs a new radiator ideally. But for jow I just put up with taking a bottle of water and filling up the expansion tank to good level and just driving the bloody thing.

I've just been given this beautiful* Polo.

Left hand drive German registered car. Belonged to a friend of a friend's son's German girlfriend who drove it here when she started uni. The German equivalent of MOT has lapsed and its going to need more work than it's worth to get through test here and bother registering it etc.

It was going to be cubed and I couldn't see that happen.

Worth it just for the 16V bumper and any other parts you can sell to a pineappler.

Hell, it's even pineapple yellow.

I think you'll find that's Trebor Soft Fruits peach.

There always used to be a Polo parked up near my sister's house in that colour, I always assumed it had just done a Vauxhall and faded to that shade.

Took a punt on a used Honda CVT (SWRA) box for the Jazz. Might be a crock of shit, but I'll take a risk at 140 yoyos. Heavy bastard, so it is. Luckily I hadn't completely buried my trolley in the shed and was able to get it out of the boot without doing my back in and wheel it round.

Cumbrian shiters, do you think they'll be some soggy Jazzes in Mike Douglas's worth picking at? Could do with a front bumper, n/s wing and n/s headlamp to fix the other one.

Having just had a rant about stupid people, I fear I had better own up to a bit of basic stupidity of my own... not proud of it though.

Just had an FTP with the Bentley. Went out to take the mutts our (blowing a gale, dog lame as fuck but...) and the central licking didn't. So ynlocked the back door manumatically and got the dogs in (Chester took this delay as an opportunity to sod off over the road an pee on hos nemesis's gate post!) stuck key in ignition and the steering column didn't motor down to its 'in use' position.... of course, turning the key was met with a resounding SFA.

I was a tad bloody annoyed and was having to resist the urge to kick things and shout at the dog (it's always his fault!) and appear as if all was well in my world as people were watching... So out with the AA card and mobile phone in hand and I'd just started dialling when a lightbulb flashed dimly above my head...

So I opened the boot (unlocked, worrying) and turned the master switch back to the 'on' position,, whereupon everything returned to normal.  Yes, I'd been buggering around in the boot yesterday, playing with the toolkits and spare bulbs and so on, when a switch appeared before my eyes, a 'strange' switch that needed pressing/turning/fiddling with, so I did and then forgot all about!

Why oh why, do I need a ;master switch'?

I imagine there is also a Slave (or servant) switch too;)

To show the rest of the world that 'you is da' master'

Also cos Bentley have realised that some of their cars, drain batteries for no known reason and a master switch resolves this issue? or is it a switch that makes life easier for garages to work on the car?

If sir has to ask, then sir can't afford one...

The master switch help when you leave the car for long periods of time so it doesn't flatten the battery. I turned my one off when I stored the Rolls 2 months ago so hopefully when it comes back out in Febuary for the MOT it won't need a jump start.

Man, what a farce today was.

Had to pop up to the yard where my cars are stored. When I was there last I'd spotted a bit of mould on the passenger seat of my G-reg Sterling, so I'd brought some products to clean the seat over, however, upon inspection, the seat and much of the interior was covered on mould, and the reason?

Yep, seemingly, because the tarpaulin cover had blown off (they'd blown off all of the cars) the water collected in the passenger footwell which I was unaware of :(

This had happened before (in fact, the picture above is of the first time around) I thought I'd sorted it out but obviously not. When it happened the first time, the soundproofing got changed and the sunroof channels unblocked, but obviously I hadn't sorted out the sunroof channel connector underneath. Thankfully the soundproofing that got changed was a cut-out part, so I will take it out and get it dry if I can find somewhere continuously dry and warm.

I'd left all of the doors open whilst trying to put the covers back on the car, I'd found some cord and tied them down but it was bloody windy, I was on my own and trying to clamber over the cars (as they are bumper to bumper) but I managed to get them on and tied them down eventually.

The G-reg got its leathers cleaned up and fed with skme soft leather cleaner/feeder stuff aswell as the door cards and dashboard. The passenger side water got mopped up as much as I could, but there will still be water lingering in the soundproofing so that'll need to be removed soon and dried out.

I really hope I can get it back on the road, in fact, it'll be my final option when/if I get paid out.

Looking good then, but only if I can magic a towbar out of nowhere before Xmas. Might have to do a January raid.

Changed the upper and lower ball joints on both sides of the Expedition today. Went surprisingly well and made good use of my new battery powered impact wrench. Just getting an alignment now and having them retorque the lower shock mount as specs call for 350 ft/lbs and I've got nothing that big.

I got a quote from a garage to do it and they wanted $900. I got moog parts from Amazon for less than $200. There by saving a big chunk of green that I can use on other cars.

Sad news on CCW. Can't imagine what that's like especially amongst a Christmas deadlines.

True, but TBF the mag deadlines ceased to feel like such a valid stress complaint. Mostly having trouble imagining what it's like for his family & friends, IYSWIM. I've offered to go into the office and help but suspect the guys are so swift at this stuff I'd hold them up rather than helping, the last thing they need is some shambolic nutter in there.

(Obv. comments about CCW staff past & present are obvious).

Have been thinking about the same car as a daily for years. I've always wanted one, have even had a convertible one and had it not leaked, would have loved everything about it. Saw four of them in Rugby carpark, sent pic of one to new friend.

"OMG I wanted one of those earlier this year!".

So. That's another kick up the arse to sell the broken ones and get a daily sorted.

I should have been outside waxing my car or waxoyling the arches as it is quite a nice day, dull yes, overcast, yes, but not actually raining or blowing a gale. However, I have been tucked up inside with the dogs as I feel like death! Overdid it yesterday and was still awake the wrong side of 6:00 am this morning!

So I have achieved nothing. I bet any money that the rest of the week will be wet and windy again and I get nothing done :(

Oh well, off to sleep now for an hour or two - benefits of the single life! :)

Clearly, Mr B has been experiencing far too little grief from his motors, hence the new purchase.  Either that or he's off to the bridge with the fucker.
