Taken the 406 in to have the crash damage fixed, been given an Avensis estate as a loan car. Comfy enough but you can certainly tell it's a diesel and the gearchange is pretty unpleasant

I decided to start using Fuelly again to find out just how much fuel the Rover is using.  It's going to take a while, that's for sure, it barely seems to use any fuel at all.

So finally, I decided to give up and leave it at a reknown P6 sanatorium for a week.

Hope you've signed up Max von Sydow for the movie version?

Was getting frustated with insurance quotes both online and when calling direct that it was coming out at £680-1200 for the Rover.  That's absurd.  Chompy mashed buttons seemingly at random on the comparison sites and Admiral admitted defeat first, offering me a policy for about £540.  That's actually LESS than I paid for the last year which is quite an achievement in and of itself.  Very happy now.

Whilst I love Malaysian/Thai spicy food I just don't get on with Indian stuff. Smells and looks fantastic, but not worth the disaster that ensues in the downstairs department the day after. (IMHO) Only the British would pay actual money for something that turns them into a liquid assed helpless, squealing, sore bottied and boxer short accident mess for a day. Then claim that they really enjoyed it!

Delivery service

Eh?

Is that based on the old takeaway food joke?

Do you deliver?

No mate. Only do chicken and beef, no liver.

One of the jobs I really need to pull my finger out and get done is sorting the passenger door on the Innocenti.  I need to find a way of welding the door skin back on to the frame at the bottom where it's come away, which will probably entail making up some sort of brackets to join one to t'other.  Fortunately this will a. involve only spot welding and b. be hidden inside the door, so hopefully within my limited abilities to sort.

I dont know whether it will work or not but would the new bonding glue they use on some cars work? Would avoid the need to weld.

I got back from Manchester about an hour ago, absolutely knackered after 630 miles in the Somerset, but it behaved very well indeed. I hit the inevitable traffic on the M6 southbound near Brum and it was so slow I ended up coming off the motorway and went across Brum to make a pilgrimage to the old Longbridge plant, as I'd never been before.

The only problem I had was that the wipers stopped working about a mile away from my digs here in Canterbury. Having them on for pretty much the entire day must have finished off the wiper motor. I'm just fortunate it waited until that point to stop working, as the rain was extremely heavy on the motorway, and if it had gone then, it would have been very awkward indeed!

I passed my bike test today! Just need all the rain to sod off so I can take this for a good blast :D

Took my Astra for its retest today and am now the proud owner of a 12 month ticket! Needed some welding and the number plate and brake lights fixing and has some advisories of corrosion underneath and the brake pipes which I'll sort soon. Very pleased though as it's a lovely car to drive and fits my needs perfectly. Looks like the honeymoon period has now turned into a full blown relationship!

I drove a 1962 Hillman Minx from Melksham back to Norwich in pissing rain with no wipers.  It actually gets better after a while - the screen gets so wet that the individual drops merge into one and it just becomes like looking through slightly wonky glass.  Wouldn't want to do it at night though mind.

The big green bogey is no longer residing outside my gaff but living in splendour in a lovely carport in 'millionaires row'! She looks very happy there with a Mercedes for company...

My friend Heather saw the Bentley today for the first time and twigged why I was asking about garages and offered the use of her carport. Not perfect (but then what is?)  but certainly better than being outside in the rain with every chance one of the jealous neighbours will do it some harm.

Carport is closed on three sides and as safe as safe can be. Long may it continue...

Also, as soon as the current tenant sods off, I'm having his flat: she lives in a gorgeous house with a huge self contained flat on the side and the current giy is never there and uses it to store push bikes!

Kitted up for my 60 mile ride into work. Back in the house within five minutes because of these:

The storage lasted one night and it got evicted. Too tight for space and she's right to be fair. It's now in a chaps garage having its oil changed 'cos it is smoking like a bitch on start up and sometimes on the over-run.

Oh dear....

Nice looking Bentley 8 going through Exeter car auctions tomorrow. I have been told the reserve is 2k. I might have to persuade my dad that it is time we had 2 great big thirsty heaps in the garage

Xtriple if it's smoking you should have some come back if you bought it from a dealer .

New programme on tonight at 7.30 called wheels steals and deals.

Its on ITV for 30 minutes (so a 20 minute programme) but it might be worth a look...

Arse. Overrun would make me ponder turbo walruses. Sorry, seals. I always imagine a Bentley to above mere seals.

Dealer sale, yes, so you should be able to get it sorted?

Not an interesting car but the Swift has now hit one decade of MOT's without failing. This was it's first with more than one advisory though, wheel bearing and exhaust which is annoying as the exhaust was new last year. Might be getting another one next week...

Yep, get the dealers to sort as they have an obligation to do so. Mind you if they fucked you about over a mark on the paint/small ding.......

Back to the doctors again.

Another spirometry test. More steroids and salbutamol.

And rather ominously, I was told to go back to my GP to arrage a "trace." (ECG).

It's playing on my mind a bit now.

Seems to be a day for it parking today.  Followed an Audi into the car park and saw the car swing towards a parking spot.  No way was it going to clear the Mondeo in the adjacent bay, I thought, and watched as said Audi plowed into the back corner of the Mondeo hard enough to move it about a foot.  Audi driver straightened up in the bay, got out and was utterly mortified at what they'd just done exclaiming 'I don't know why I did that!'.

No, I don't know why you did it either!  Driver did have the good grace to hang around for the other driver, they had taken quite a lot of paint off both cars.  The Mondeo looked to have been walloped a few times in its life so perhaps it was just an invisible car.  No photographs because I'm not a complete monster and the driver showed a significant degree of remorse at their actions.

Today the Swift celebrated it's tenth MOT pass in a row by sticking a brake on of it's own accord and stranding me in the middle of nowhere.

Just been for a spin in the red Rover.  Temp gauge is holding rock steady at just under half, the heater is blowing hot and no odd gurgling noises from the cooling system.  The light coating of mayo that was on the oil cap last night has also disappeared.

I have no clue.
