The biggest autoshite meeting ever held south of the equator is shortly to take place in New Zealand, within an hour. I am expecting that 75% of known NZ members will attend. Can the Welsh fest match that attendance rate ?

Yup.. shitefest south 2015 did take place, almost by accident. The weather was cool and wet so not a lot of time was spent inspecting the fleet of vehicles. Attendance was stuno, bm55 and jon. Missing was capriv6 who didn't get invited. A pleasant couple of hours was spent in a warm café discussing shite and other, and then we went our separate ways again.

We hope to meet up again in Auckland before bm55 returns to Scotland later this month and hope capri man will be able to attend.

Makes the Welshfest look a bit lame :-D

If 75% of UK Autoshiters turn up, we'll be having kittens.

And we'll be grateful of all the extra veg oil..

the junction at the end where you stopped then took off - no redline :D

redline and go mad :D

The limiter was set at 7800rpm. I concede I didn't take it much beyond 7000. VTEC YO effect kicked in at 6000rpm. Insane.

Great vid!!!

It may get a bit blurry but there's no mistaking the wail from the engine, nor the big grin it caused!

Had the Capri in for its MOT today, passed first try! Again, I might add! Not had a fail from it for years now so I was expecting something this time.

Not bad for a rough, 41 year old Ford. I really don't get peoples need for modern shit when my old stuff manages perfectly easily enough.

I'll reward it this weekend with a good wash and polish, followed by a nice blast around some of Hampshires back roads.

No pics yet though due to the hideous shitty weather.

I'm starting to lean towards selling the 2CV. Sentimentality is a luxury I can't really afford. I worry what another owner would do to her, but frankly, my own track record is hardly brilliant is it?

I did something so un-shite today.

Take 1 x perfectly good BMW 525d on a 58 plate that has just done a faultless 1800 mile round trip. Then sell is 2 days after getting back and spunk a load of money on the latest model:

Not my finest moment.

Well as stated yesterday the Beetle went in for MOT today.

I had high hopes of a 1st time pass but it was not to be.

It only failed on 4 things which seems like a days work should see right.

Although I am slightly disappointed I now have a final list of things that need doing to get it on the road.

With a 3 day weekend coming for me I'm sure I can squeeze a day in.

Went over to Spain to pick up this weapons-grade shitter of a Series 3 to bring it circa 650 miles across the country to get it back to England via a really long ferry journey.

Picked up car;

Went clubbing, got a hangover;

Took a scenic route through central Spain;

Snapped the front off the chassis (same both sides);

Did 200 very cautious miles like that until we found a welder to borrow;

Cheers mate! Will update when I can put all the pics online, gotta see what goes in the mag first n' all that.

We drove from Malaga to Santander through as many back roads/ via as many mountains as possible - fantastic and highly highly recommended! You do need to know some Spanish though, they do not do English... Explaining that I wanted to borrow a guy's welder because my car was in two pieces with actions was difficult.

As for the chassis, the motor was pulled out of a field and clearly lashed up by people who should've known better. It got driven from mid wales to Marrakech and hasn't been treated too well en route by all accounts, then we got hold of it and just drove it like we would our own and it just gave up. Initially thought the bulkhead had shit itself (which it had) and had fallen back so we couldn't open the doors, turns out that broke because the chassis snapped above the front axle and the whole lot had created a fun new angle for us.

It was only a couple of days ago that I was going on about how I dislike VWs and how shit they are...

Today karma hit back, and through a fairly complicated series of events, I appear to have become the owner of a very broken Lupo. Joy*.

Does anyone have a spare 085 gearbox and some ripe pineapples ?

Since I serviced my Volvo, it seemed to be using much more juice than before. Somehow it sorted itself out and after filling up today I counted 24.9mpg.

Not bad for a 3.0 straight six petrol with auto pulling 1.5 tons with quite a bit urban and mixed driving.

I have a spare 085 coming out of my Golf when it gets weighed. Syncromesh doesn't work though. Also pops out of second. Also rarely engages first, so you have to ram it in repeatedly to get it to engage (like my missus). Also has a constant whine. Top-quality VAG machinery.

In all seriousness though, I know of a few about in Devon for not much cash if you're struggling.

Yesterday's BBC main page entry for the Tank episode had the photo captioned

'The repair will cost thousands'

The car, however, suffered 12,000 euros (£8,600) worth of damage.

It's fucked.
