Despite our best efforts at bodging it with the welder, dad's Rover 600 exhaust is still blowing, and as he was going to Norfolk for a few days I've lent him the Maestro. Heard from him earlier, he made the three hour journey from Southend to Stalham without a hitch and the Maestro's running really well.

Obviously this does mean I'm down to the Somerset as my only working car, fortunately that's running much better after yet another condenser was fitted and the blowing manifold joint remade. I also ordered the new master cylinder for the A35 so I can make a push to get that back on the road as well.

Nice plates trig. Now , why do mercs always have 4 number plate screws ?

Because two is too common.

Those reg plates look 100% class in a glass Trig!!!! Money well spent I reckon.

Aye, DMB are ace - they made a new front plate for the Charade from a crap photo of the rear deck I took:

I did have 4 in the back of mine but the screws rusted in and snapped off so had to make do with redrilling just the pair instead, it's not like it's going to fall off!

Well I stuck the rear one of mine on with double sided sticky tape (as they say on blue peter).

That's not good enough, one of the few things that show we are a civilised race are the 4 screws holding a Mercedes numberplate on. I'm thinking about going outside to check that the hire car I've got has got proper screws or some Johnnycomelately, pinko, nouveau riche sticky back fucking plastic affair.

Mrs N's CLK has a numberplate I collected personally from the supplying dealer and it came with 4 complimentary screws, although at £25 they were hardly free.

While I was at the petrol station earlier, getting petrol for the mowershite, I saw this parked off to one side. A Cadillac of some sort, and it looked like it'd been distressed. Sort of shabby-chic Caddy. post-17913-0-48545400-1409782927_thumb.jpg

Reliant Scimitar, TVR Taimer, Lotus Elite, Hillman Minx, Austin Allegro, Morris Marina, Volvo 140, Ford Sierra, Peugeot 404, Citroen Dyane, MG B, Austin/Rover Metro, Datsun 100A, Reliant Robin

To name a few of the considered future projects.  There's so much to pick from out there it's pretty amazing.

This mini van looks to have an older front panel fitted to it. T reg divide by 0 does not compute

All minivans had the earlier grille and the flappy wipers lasted until pretty late on. External door hinges too, with sliding windows. Even in 1982.

Most minivans had the fixed , steel grille until the first time it needed the points doing .

Know the Austin well. Belongs to a very old lady from Grimsby who used to regularly take it across the country to go to owners club rallies, but I think age is catching up with her as I haven't seen the car for some time. Good to know it's still around anyway.

I'd have said hello if our paths had crossed. It looked to be in super condition :-)

Charade is also good.  Especially if it's going to be adorned with its new wheels.

No chance. The stud holes are frigged - although I may bring one for Dez to have a look at.

My £800 purchase this week. Will be my winter run about now, not really what I was looking for but it was local, has FSH and when I say FSH I mean a lever arch file with every bill/receipt and MOT from new, its done 100k and has had 13 services last done in Jan this year with MOT to next April

I know mate, this is my 3rd 3 series coupe. I love the straight sixes, this is my first 4 pot and its surprisingly smooth but obvs lacks that straight six tone and top end speeds.

The fickle finger of land rover electrics tried to mess up my mot plans, but it has been defeated. One side light out, one full beam not working and the near side indicators not flashing and not a duff bulb amongst them.

Considering the lights are as technologically advanced as a Tilley lamp, they don't half frustrate the bejesus out of me.

Brakes are sorted now too so they don't need pumped like im blowing up an inflatable mattress. Just need to sort a missing wheel stud and it should be ready for the Monday mot.

I once saw an MOT fail sheet for a Land Rover Lightweight that just had a massive question mark in the lighting section.

Observing the latest trend in who has the loudest exhaust at recent car shows I visited,

the RBM has finally gotten a new exhaust back box today.

This silencer silences it to a degree, that it is now in whisper mode.

FINALLY got new rubber fitted to the 2CV.

The old tyres were pretty illegal, bar one. Which was on the cusp. Bit ashamed actually, though no kittens were harmed. Might be going back to the garage before long though, as all of the wheels are pretty shonky. I shall get saving for a new set.

In other news, my friend has given me this to play with for a few days. It's truly excellent!

That has to be joining your fleet at some point - it has the requisite number of digits in the reg., after all! :-D
