Ledbury rode higher and firmer.  Build quality was comparable even though the Austin had many times the mileage and years than the Ledbury.  Four speed gearbox in the Austin was more responsive than the five speed in the Ledbury, though that may have been an issue with my particular car rather than representative of all Ledburys, for some reason it didn't matter how hard you tried the Ledbury didn't want to go past 50mph without a fight.

Some of the others outside yesterday, one of the Z cars had an £80k for sale note on it.

I was on a course for 4 days and they were the neighbours. Quite a nice looking Moss Green  Mustang in there with a 351 Windsor engine and auto box. Didn't see any bad guys hanging around driving Mopar muscle.

Telephone.  I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.  The form is tedious, especially when it goes into invasive amounts of detail about things like personal hygiene.  Good luck with it.

Our holiday weather is decidedly Welsh this morning.

IMG_0378.jpeg.cd77931ca155d87198af603f5e34e04a.jpeg

Spent yesterday around Bannau Brycheiniog which was lovely. We thought we were on the Llanfair and Welshpool railway today but that’s tomorrow! Might go to the Devil’s Bridge or the coast of Ceredigion.

Apologies if my Welsh spellings aren’t on 100%

If you're near Aber the Y Costi cafe at the top of the cliff railway used to be very good, with excellent Welsh Rarebit. It's a few years since I've been there though.

We’re in Knighton, Powys. About 3 miles in from the border with Hereford. Abergavenny I think is the nearest place beginning with Aber! I’ll have a look on the map though, I’m always up for a recommendation.

Also, despite owning it for 18 months-ish, Wales has been the only place where people have asked me “Is that an old Vauxhall?” Or “Is that a Chevette/shove-it?” On my @RetroShite hoodie (as previously seen on my 205 collection thread)

Nobody in Sussex batted an eyelid at it.

I need more clothes so I will do a Retroshite shop order when I get home Monday.

Yes it squeels like a fan belt when depressing the clutch and there's a whistle present at idle which does seem to disappear underload although which engine reving its hard to tell.

Does not slip. Immaterial as looks like ill be having the box off so may as well through a whole kit at it. Oh yeah at idle the revs sometimes drop when the clutch is depressed and it rumbles and shakes. It's not enjoying life is it.

think I just passed you on Well Hall. I couldn't hear any noises from my side of the road so sure you'll be fine for while 😂

Sorry, I didn’t think, we always call Aberystwth Aber at home and you'd mentioned the Ceredigion Coast.

Haha. Did see your motors as i passed though not yourself was busy concentrating on keeping at 20 and checking if the police were still behind me with the remaining head space focused on driving. My mind still boggles that it changes to 30 where you find the bulk of pedestrians and road hazards down by the shops though what donI know.

Made it to Orpington and back to pick these up as they were cheaper than what matey wanted for one Chinese death ring for the Berlingo.

Came off an import Eunos so 4x100 on one set of holes which would wobble bolt onto the Panda if the centre bore agrees. The other set of holes is bigger spacing maybe 114 as the are stamped made in Japan.

I was going the other way in the Mrs A class taking the dog to get his annual checkup

The South circ 20 zone is one of the more stupid things this lousy council has done and as you say the changing it to 30 where the shops are is even more hilarious

Most days you’d be glad (amazed?) to be doing 20 on the south circular.

Some fat twat in a hat and his wife have sensibly decided the Devil’s Bridge is worth visiting.

Followed by coffee and cake.

Now in Charlie’s in Aberystwyth. I like this place. Full of manly things such as Stihl petrol tools, bolts and Bull in field signs.

If SALT is still going there they used to do burgers to die for.

@dozeydustman - I love the fact that you've dressed up like Uncle Buck:

Also, if I were to dress up like that, we'd look like twins given the fact you have the same style glasses as me.

We had to do an emergency hunt for a headlamp bulb for the Renault, then the heavens opened quite dramatically. Drove to Cardigan and now in a rather nice restaurant at a hotel in Poppit Sands.

I’m having Moules Normandie. Sans frites.

I can definitely recommend the Teifi Waterside hotel/Gwesty glanfa Teifi if you’re near Cardigan.

Tasty food at reasonable prices and good prtion size. I was expecting about 8 mussels for my £9 or so. Must have been 25 in that bucket!

It's gone - place called Coffee #1 now. Looks half dead at the moment, likely awaiting the student influx later in the month.
Baravin for a nice but pricey pizza or The Glengower for chips, burgers etc. - pretty much our go to if we happen to be in town at eating times - that's about once a year.

@dozeydustman's a brave soul - we've had the most dreadful rain over here today, I've got wet through twice, stuck the log burner on and ordered in a new set of Guy Cotten waterproofs......

Last time I was up that way was on a group trail ride tour. Always stop at Devil's Bridge though that last time was just for a smoke and a peer over the edge.

Mostly running around today along with many hours spent unsuccessfully looking for the wheel bolts for the van I have put somewhere safe. Like a twat.

Did manage a bit of time on the Panda before dusk.

Utilised the posh drain pan to drop the gearbox oil.

IMG_7113.jpeg.98c0fabcfcfbe55085438ec80a682629.jpeg

Missed as usual. Managed to pull off a cracking shot and drop the drain bolt straight in the just big enough hole in the drain pan. What a winner.

Top side of the box all disconnected and driveshafts ready to pull. Shall get back on it tomorrow.

Both my missus and our eldest did their degrees there although the last year of his was dodging polar bears in Svalbard. As a result we were regular visitors for about 4 years and grew to love the place although not the journey from North Norfolk nor the speeding fines.

We’ve had 5 weeks of non-stop rain in Bognor, I got used to it. Just prettier viewage out the car windows while travelling has been the main difference 🤣
