I dropped my Focus off at the garage this morning, just rang them up to find out how the car's getting on and they said it's still in pieces, apparently the fault code is fuel pressure regulator so they are currently stripping the fuel pump off to fix it.

I feel a very expensive bill coming on which i could really do without.

Sell it and buy the equivalent 80s escort!

I think complaints about it being a boring-looking car are a bit over the top, the N12 Cherry was an incredibly fresh and neat looking design for the early 80s. Most small hatchbacks from that time are very obviously 70s-derived designs, or more-or-less just a facelift of one. It's just a general complaint which gets thrown around. You get a similar thing with the Yugo and that just looks like a MK1 Golf to me, yet one is considered really handsome and the other isn't.

Hell, no complaints from me, I love the N12 shape and think it was the last really nice-looking hatch that Nissan did. I was being a bit flippant about the Alfa tie-in, and I didn't realise they were so limited in their options at the time - it still strikes me as an odd thing to do though.

I could probably buy a 80's Escort for the same price of the Focuses repair bill! This Escort 1.6 Ghia is for sale around the corner, I've been told he'd take £500 for it.

Oh well, I've also had to turn down some prime crod that I really fancied too which means I'll been keeping the Acclaim a bit longer and will probably have to MTFU and drive it to shitefest, I've just ordered some new discs and pads of eBay to preparation for £40 delivered.

Why are you even contemplating getting the Focus repaired with that honey round the corner?

What's happening with the Cortina respray trigger?

Ha! Well sadly I need a "reliable" modern car as i do a fair few miles and I have a sister in Cornwall that I have to visit plus I plan to keep it another 2 years yet, I haven't had much luck with it though.

Cort - I haven't heard anything for a few weeks but the cars still at the bodyshop and hopefully they have finished the Lambretta they were doing and have now started it.

Cool, looking forward to seeing the pictures when it's done .

Did it pass the MoT fine in November? IIRC the tyres were an advisory on the last one but 90 quid a pop for decent ones made me leave it!

On my 3rd day of not smoking.Came home from work this evening and realised my house stinks! Have some cinnamon stiff in my vape thingy and quite liking it.

Nearly 22 quid saved so far- enough to buy a new battery for the little Kwak.

Trig , I'm down in Cornwall and breaking a focus tdci if you want to come and rape n pillage.

Good news, Mr Wobbler.  I still have the parcel shelf from stripey and a new backbox with pipes attached that I bought but never got as far as fitting if they're of use?  I might have some other BX nicknacks too that you're welcome to.  Could bring to Shitefest Cymru.

Thanks. That'd be grand. I can stuff some nice, big speakers into a shelf then, and still have a 'nice' one.

You saved £22 in three days of not smoking?

The XJR is gone baby gone. A nice chap came up from Harrogate and bought it. He's the manager of a mini spares company and has a 205 diesel as his daily so obviously a man of taste.

I pick the Cortina up on Saturday and the previous owner of the SD1 is maybe interested in buying it back.

I thought about quitting smoking, but then worked out I'd save about £3 a day. Nothing else makes me feel happier for £3 a day so I carried on!

Missus chuffs through a good £10 a day worth though of fags, but I value my earhole/bollocks too much to suggest quitting to her!

The Celica has been paid for and is out of the garage, running and ready to go. I've booked a self drive car transporter to get it to Boottle docks tomorrow, where it will sail over to Dublin and be taken to it's new owner in Cork.

Although I haven't used it in a while, and really need the money, I'll be sad to see it go. I'll never have another that good, that's for sure.

I was behind somebody buying cigarettes the other day, it was either £8 or £9 for a packet.

Nearly £2,700 a year! I'll stick to petrol for my over-taxed vice.

If anyone wants any bx bits taken to shitefest please pm me. Dad has loads but is having a purge. Think he binned 8 bonnets today .

Posted

Quite possibly interested - but a bit hard not knowing what he's got. Shame the bonnets got binned, but they take up a lot of room and are (mostly) plastic, so replacements not often needed.

I can R a Non Medical Prescriber.

Just got my final exam results through and I can now write prescriptions for almost anything. :)

Chuffed and relieved in fairly equal spades. To celebrate I have had a Cadburys Creme Egg and sod the HbA1c

Do you have a picture of said beast?  Harrogate's 10 miles from me, so it'll be likely that I migtht see it about.

Dw, send me a wish list and I will check. It will all be cheap cheap like a budgie

I don't actually own a BX yet, (not until next week) but will try and get a list together by Shitefest.

Congratulations, Mr Martymicra Shed!

Right, after some piss-arsing about looks like my lad should be getting his new car tomorrow. Only fly in the ointment is that he can't get insured online this evening because the reg. no. has only just been released by DVLA so not showing on computers apparently.

I might buy his Audi off him (wanker! twat! two faced bastard!) and whizz round in it for a while, not decided yet though.

Yo! Buying 'legit' is pricey.... In petrol stations I queue behind folks paying more than my fillup ;)

Yup, 20-30 a day @ £7.36 A PACK...  Been smoking since I was 12..... 28 years ago nearly. Yes I can count, and no I don't want anyone to tell me.
