The 406 went today, to the same scrappy who bought the white Rover.  So it's back to using the Carina as a daily for the time being - although I can get the folding bike into the back of the S60, it uses quite a lot more pez than the Toyota.  I'll be keeping a lookout for another diesel estate - I might have to bite the bullet and pay a bit more than a couple of hundred quid this time. :?

I dunno if it's a grump or a grin or just something that defines me as an absolute tight bastard, but I did the tracking on my golf by total guesswork about 10k ago after killing the inside edge of a pair of tyres in no time at all. Anyway, now I just checked both front tyres and they are totally shagged, but at least they are shagged equally across the tread which is a first for me.

Not sure whether to treat myself to a pair of £32 Nankangs (plus fitting!!!!!!!) or just go for whatever £15 a side(fitted) part worns they have floating around the place. I'm not a total shitehawk, I would get a matching pair.

The Xsara 'did a French car' on me yesterday by deciding to have a flat battery as I was about to take it to someone local who was interested in buying it. Had a quick butcher's in the dark and can't see anything obvious left on.

Squeezed past the 600 mile mark in the Corsa today, still being used for bike collection/delivery until I find out the fate of the 306. I should probably use the other Corsa 1.0 (a C as opposed to the B) as I bet the battery is flat on that too. The Cinquecento is out because, guess what? Flat battery!

OMGREDWARNINGKAOS here in the NW extremities. I cleverly* put the Renault in the lee of next-doors' motorhome to give it some shelter. Which seemed like a great idea, until I looked out of the window just now to see the 'bago swaying violently from side to side like an inebriated Eric Pickles. Apologies in advance to Vulga if it does topple over.  Also, both bridges have been shut so we're officially STRANDED WITH NO SUPPLIES (except whatever's in all the shops).

EDIT: It's OK, the mad 100mph gusts are actually arriving from a different direction, so the wee 6 won't get flattened by a motorhome. It'll more likely get a 40-foot conifer through the roof, while the 'home flattens a Kia Soul instead. Cool.

>.<  Sounds like horrible weather, MrDuke!  Hope you and all the west coat shiters aren't blown away/over/into the sea.

^ Aye, it's pretty bad here, the Orwell bridge on the A14 has been shut since 2pm meaning all the traffics coming though town, I live just of one of the main roads and the traffic is back up past mine which I've never seen before, I live a good mile or more from the town centre too.

On the plus side, you can test your sunroof repair, has it worked so far?

Didnt realise you were from Ipswich Trigger.

Lived there many years near airport just off Nacton road & wifes parents lived in norwich road.

It had worked for a few days and then last night my wife said it started dribbling down her face again, I'll have to attack it with more mastic.

I live just off Nacton Road, been here for about 9-10 years now.

Nightmare, I've bought a tube of silicon sealant to try, but so far everytime I've been at the car it's been pissing with rain.

I've entered this conversation at the wrong point...

My news is exciting, thanks to a red weather alert. I've been bus driving today, with trees coming down all over the place. I'm very glad to have made it home without serious incident (plenty of flying branches bouncing of the car as I drove home!).

Same, im poised with the mastic gun for when we have actual dry weather. Meanwhile ive taken all the carpets out of the 504 and hung them on a clothes airer, which has pleased SWMBO no end!

get to your local multistory carpark late on when its a bit quiet, dry it off, silicone it up, let it cure..... happy days then drive home in the rain to see if it leaks

i have polished my car a few times in a multistory, usually the night before a show when i have finished work and its been going dark, the ticket checker was amused when she came and had a chat with me to see what i was doing.

Renewed insurance on TR7 this morning (I might even drive it this year), spent most of the rest of the day putting my garden fence back up (perhaps I should have waited until after the "hurricane" forecast for later tonight).Saw a maroon Dolomite pick-up in Talbot Green this afternoon with signwritten "Cardiff Classics" (?) across the back. Unfortunately I was driving at the time and didn't have a camera with me but I will keep an eye out for it.

I'm guessing Talbot Green is a place, because otherwise that's a very confusing statement, unless it was some sort of terrible flip-paint and/or two-tone affair.

Busy day today. Booked the day off work to get some stuff moved. The Sterling was packed with a few items and was taken to Worcester where it'll be stored off road whilst I sod off to France at some point. However I got there later than I wanted to due to being rather blank about what I wanted to pack in the car and taking the scenic route to Pershore.

After dropping the car off I jumped on the train to Birmingham where I was due to go and pick up a mates van to pick more stuff and take it to another garage of mine but by the time I got back into Birmingham I was really pushed for time, I knew things would be extremely tight so I decided to knock it on the head and have a go at moving the stuff another time.

So I had a go at sorting one part of loft. I have a metric-TONNE of stuff up there but most is boxed so easier to move when the time comes. I got rid of some old clothes and stuff. Quite good for a hoarder like me.

I miss my Sterling already :(

"Local" multistory car park is 20 miles away sadly...

I don't fancy driving the car that far as is until I know it's all good.

It's in a garage but it leaks too!

That is a right bugger then

One from my youth, a 1970s Leyland Leopard.  It was either that or a Leyland National single decker or a Leyland Atlantean double decker, the public transport that took me everywhere as a youngster with their orange formica walls, itchy orange seats, and distinctive engine smell and note.

305's just been collected.

Of all the cars I've been forced to sell because of money, that Peugeot will be the one I miss the most.

Didn't that 305 have the Autoshite banner across it at Chumley a couple or three years ago?

The Xjr is getting closer to its reserve and I'm getting giddy at the thought of the replacement shite I could buy.

Sad times, Mr Dugong, sad times.

Not entirely. It means I'm better off. It also means I can get my 460 back on the road. Two YO Volvos will make for quite a photograph.
