Headlights have stopped working on WorldofCeri'sAccidentalRATLukVW. Bulbs & fuses are fine. Sidelights and main beam work but no dipped. This is not ideal when you start work at 0330.

October 17th 2013: Set £40k DAF coach on fire whilst helping out a coach company I did odds and sods for. Vehicle written off.

November 4th 2013: Start driving school bus full time for the company whose DAF I wrote off.

January 11th 2014: Start in the office as management monkey replacing the 2nd in command, salary, company phone and parking space not 3/4mile from the office.

I'm somewhat at a loss as to wtf has happened.

WoC:  Could it be a dodgy switch?  Failing that, they're only Beetle headlights, just put them on main and nobody will notice.  Unless you've upgraded them to something ridiculously powerful, obviously, in which case you'd be a Dubmong for that sort of behaviour.

They obviously reconed you could stand the heat!

Congrats on the promotion. This now means you have to waft into the car park with the senny and slick your hair back!

Obviously they're shit scared you're a mad arsonist and going to torch the rest of their fleet,

or they received £60k from the insurance and you're the man of the moment.

Clearly they've decided you're safer in the office. Or they love shabby Volvos. Congrats though!

I've driven the bus around on main beam only and it doesn't seem to bother anyone.

Check the relay if the switch is ok.

I think somehow the way you must have dealt with the coach/fire business must have impressed them enough to think that if it had happened with passengers on, they'd have all been dealt with safely.  Coaches can be replaced, customers/passengers can't.

On the 306 it was a melted reistor in front wing, not sure veedubs have same issue

No-lites VeeDub update:

Well, IR elektrix spaz, cause one of them was a dodgy fuse. The other I fixed by erm... wiggling the wire in the headlight bowl a bit.

Cheers for the tips tho!

Mrs WoC hasn't texted me in a fit of panic this morning, so I assume they were OK for her drive to work. She's a bit on-edge car-safety wise since her colleague rolled her Mazda 2 yesterday.

Along as she doesn't do a barrel roll in the Beetle she'll have nothing to worry about.  Those Mazda 2s are well known for rolling over for fun, probably.

Finally got some pictures of this A3 I've ended up with. Polished up and ready for tailgating.

The Interiors the nicest bit even though you can't see the full seats.

Very nice, some street pharmaceutical vendors would be all over that if you were in South London. You'd have to black the windows for maximum desirability though.

Hey! I was checking out a couple of car numbers and noticed that SORN description had a slight change to it. There is no more 'date of liability' if your car is on SORN. So it looks like this continuous SORN thing has finally kicked in.

I checked on my own car, the Mk2 827 Rover Sterling I currently have squirreled away:

The vehicle details for N181AWP are:

Date of First Registration: 30 11 1995

Year of Manufacture: 1995

Cylinder Capacity (cc): 2675

ccCOâ‚‚ Emissions: Not Available

Fuel Type: PETROL

Export Marker: N

Vehicle Status: SORN in place

Vehicle Colour: GREY

Vehicle Type Approval: Not Available

My brother's Golf attacked Dad's Omega with it's door earlier today because of the OMGWINDKAOS snatching the door out of the passenger's hand.  Neither of them can see what damage might have been done.

I also had a little "what am I doing?" moment about the Renault this evening.  All shall be well and all shall be well and all manner of things shall be well.  Of course, I'm not backing out, this is too excellent a story waiting to happen to do that.

^ Yes it is! Keep the faith VG for all will be well...

in Volvo related news it's clearly had enough of behaving itself and siezed the NSF brake caliper, complete with frightening smoke and burning smells. As I was out with a friend at the time (who appreciates my old car fondness) and it was mega hot we went for lunch. Came back and it was fine again and remained so much of the way home. Checked when I got in and the hub was warm though.

Balls.

Yes Mr V: I too would like to dissuade you from worrying too much about the Six. The whole AS community is right behind you on this :)

Most of the drivers on the roads around Enfield appear to have had the remnants of their brains removed. It is utter stupid, christmas traffic fuckwit chaos here at the moment. Avoid if at all possible.

Glad to have finally arrived home, even if it is in Edmonton.

Was going to replace the bits in TV2's crankcase ventilation system this morning (a job which I have been putting off for months), but upon discovering how much dismantling was actually needed to get to the parts which I wanted to replace, I gave up.

It's the same in south Essex at the moment, especially around Lakeside. Almost every driver (most of whom are utter roadtards at the best of times) seems to be driving under the influence of commercial television at the moment

Try having the regret I'm feeling! A field full of temptation and I'm personally not going to have any of the cars on my driveway. The fact that I can't spare £80 to rescue a Renault is a cause of great upset at the moment.

No joy on the granada dw? I presume there's someone on here next in line?

I have indeed passed the Granny buck. Hopefully the new year will be full of exciting collection capers.

As it is almost 'Christmas' I have strewn a few lights around the front garden in an attempt to be festive. We are almost the only house in the street to do this..... Everyone I have spoken to recently is a bit 'meh, whatever' about Christmas this year.

A sign of the (skint) times?

Edit. My lights are circa 2008 and are slightly rubbish now.

Not exactly news, but we had a health visitor visit to check over brookjm_jr and she came in this bloater...

And the wheels speak a lot about 'progress' and the way it is with modern tin....

The HLS has thanked me putting a new interior in by making me trap a nerve in my shoulder.  It's bloody annoying and may prevent me doing more tomorrow.

I fixed the headlight aim on the HL too, the bodged adjuster had hopped out so I've pushed it back in again and all is well.  I can actually see where I'm going again.
