The most amusing* bit is the 50mph section that starts just past Abergele - you'll get people sticking to the limit in the inside lane, and then the 'daring' types crawling past them, at 55-60mph. Because 10mph over the limit is fine, but 70 would just be too naughty.

Sold the Delica on Saturday, didn't buy the Zx yesterday... money burning a hole today... must resist...

I replaced the alloys on the pug with some 106 S2 Rallye steels the other day... I'm trying to source some centre caps to finish them off as i'm still not sure of the look.. it definitely drives better though!

And this afternoon, I have dug this old beast from the depths of my friends garage!

20130506_192127.jpg

It's a 1960 Mobylette AV76... been off the road for aaaages, last taxed in '94 when her uncle bought it to nab the 'plate off..., but it was mot'd in 2001, didn't appear to get used though!

It all turns over but wont run, a quick slosh of fuel shows the petrol tap is kippered, and the fuel hose was split and not feeding the carb... I'll get a new hose and have a bit better play later in the week :D I proper fancy some old 'ped action, and I can ride this beast on my car licence :)

Ooh, a Looxor. I like that generation of Pug - they seemed to bring out an endless stream of new models for no apparent reason, but they all used the same engines, which were fairly bombproof and surprisingly tuneable.

Mobylette looks rather lovely. Makes me think I should do something with mine, which is currently languishing in the back of my van. Mind you, it's never been registered and has about as much chance of passing an MoT as I do of (to borrow a phrase from garethj) taking Cheryl Cole up the tradesman's. Which is a shame, as it was a supremely reliable beast when I was using it, and went like the clappers too - later electronic ignition engine from an MBK Hard Rock (seriously) and an expansion exhaust meant it would buzz along at 50 quite happily. That would piss off a few kids on their Speedfights.

@Mike_D: That set of wheels looks bob on for the Pug, it's a good choice, the black centres will finish them off nicely. As for the Mobylette, I'm not really sure what to think, but none of what I'm thinking is bad.

After calling in an awkward favour to get the welding done in time, and having explained to the MOT tester that I NEED a cert before lunchtime tomorrow, he's now too busy to fit me in. So that's another VIC appointment, and a grand total of £82 paid to VOSA just so that they can look at my chassis number for 10 minutes.:evil: If the inspector so much as glances at any other area of my car, I will actually assault him with extreme violence.

Just sold the E30 to Mr 'Holbeck' of this parish, and was sad to see it go in the end. The deal was done in the shady back streets of Saarf London as I met him during my lunch hour. As always, it was a pleasure dealing with a fellow 'shiteist :)

So I've only got two cars now, with daily driver duties falling to the miniMetro until new Rovershite is purchased.

I got this on Sunday...

...ex-Eddy Ramrod. I couldn't take it for a blast as I was still a bit pissed from the night before and I don't drive the following day now at all. Anyhow we took it for a spin to Llandudno yesterday and it's surprising how much better it is to drive a pez guzzler because it was accelerating in a way my diesels could only dream of. Quite impressed with it, missus says it's very comfortable and pulls very nicely indeed. Haven't lobbed any juice in it yet but seems to be ok on fuel, and it might end up as a keeper as my bird is on about getting a caravan now and this will tow one ok I reckon.

Can't get desperately comfortable in the driver's seat, I think it's slightly twisted so I may need a trip to the scrappy, but I'm certainly not complaining about the car. Won't pretend it's dead exciting or anything because (like all the other cars in this 'class') it's not, but then you don't really buy a family saloon for 150mph jaunts and what not.

It's nice to have a car with a remote locking thing as well, and despite Eddy warning one of the doors doesn't always lock, so far it's been fine.

Obv. the main attraction was the wonderful* shade of green, which is exactly the same colour as my other Peugeots. Oh, how exciting life is for me.

Bah, you beat me to it Rob :)

150 miles later and the BMW is now safely at Chez Holbeck. Very pleased with it so far.

A very pleasant transaction. As Rob said, a pleasure to do business with a fellow 'shiteist.

I do enjoy seeing shiteists buying/selling cars off each other.

It really is much more pleasant than having to deal with the usual ebay/gumtree muppets.

Surprisingly the Merc is the first car I've bought of a fellow shiter. Did once try and obtain an Accord from Alex G, but it exploded the day before

Absolutely. Also, because you get the feeling of who is sound, you just sort of know you can trust them. I don't recall even opening the bonnet on the 406, nor bother with such vagaries as test drives or pissing about checking things over.

Put the Audi through the MOT yesterday, needs a rear shocker and some wiring tidying up under the bonnet, seems loose wires are a no no now. Also failed on both rear door handles not opening, they do work, there is just a knack! Will replace them anyway with hopefully some good ones in the pile of spare bits.

Think this may be going up for sale soon, not for any reason other than I don't need such a big wagon. Although the annual bill for running it so far has been around £350 including tax and insurance, also it's on gas, so it's pennies per mile also.

This thing's cleaned up nicely now it has a fresh years MOT. I just need to sell it now.

Could I interest you in a Lancia Beta Spider?

Now with less stickers and 12 months MOT :D

I was going to come up with something amusing, but we'll stick with "no thanks". Anything else? :)

I have bought several cars off here. The DAF from Scooters, Saab 900 from M'coli, Auschwitz from Lankytim, , Sera from Kinkersaab, Council Estate from Sam Glover. At least you know who you are getting them from and they are not deliberately trying to sell you a dud that is about to go KA-BOOM and are honest in their description!

Okay, there are likely to be small things and you will find things wrong getting a car from an amateur tinkerer (I sold my old GT6 with a bunch of bolts that were leftover from repairing it) but its nothing I cant handle.

Nothing legal that doesn't need work, apart from the rally car. My disposal list for this year is:

Lancia Beta Spider - Road legal, needs work cosmetically, you don't want.

Range Rover Classic - Crusty, not moved in 2yrs+, won't start. Every time I mention scrapping it B-I-L says he's going to fix it.

Renault GTA V6 Turbo - a bit tatty, did have an MOT until recently, currently awaiting compression test as I think it may need new head gaskets.

Alfa 155 lpg'd - Only done about 1000 miles since the last MOT (now expired) needs a tyre, cat/lambda and lpg tweaking for MOT.

Rally prepared kei car (road legal) + spares car (complete, but failed MOT on emissions) + spares .... I keep changing my mind about selling these and won't split.

Picking up the Standard in a couple of hours. BORED OF WAITING NOW FFS.

I enjoyed buying the XM from campbell. Straight up, no fluff or other bollocks, just two like minded blokes on the same wavelength. 'Engine light on? No bother, it'll be something simple, rear height corrector borked? Not a problem, I'll enjoy stripping it and cleaning it'

Compared to the ZX, when matey, after having seen the exhaust lying on the back seat started to ask about the tyres, and point out scratches, and the dent by the drivers door handle where I'd kicked it in an attempt to break the ice off one morning. 'Mate, it's a £300 car with a fresh MOT on it, WTF do you think it'll be like? Grow some bollocks and do some work'. I think he went to kwikfit for an exhaust, then his wife moaned to amy the other week that it cost £150 to sort when I said it would be much less. Had you got off your arse for half a day you could buy and fit one for £50...

Feckless Campbell still hasn't taken his box to the post office to send to you though. I'll get it done for Monday. Am away tomorrow.

I picked my car up from the garage today having paid the £18 bill to get a new back box I picked up for £25 fitted. So exhaust sorted for less than £45.

How is your blue planet driving Sam?

I could be tempted by the Alfa as it seems a particularly silly idea, is the Renault a red one? There used to be one living round here that I haven't seen in a while.

Are your Kei cars the 4wd ones?

I believe they're Cuore Avanzato TR-XX R4s. So yes.

I discovered the answer to a question I never thought to ask today; what would a fed spec Marina look like?

Wow. Thanks to why_theory over on Twitter for posting about it. My life is perhaps not richer for this knowledge, but certainly more rounded, unlike the Marina above.
