Aren't Uber spending north of $300 million a year on selling driving cars?

I have recently bought a solar charger/conditioner from Aldi.

It will mainly be for the 2cv when it's undercover and the merc when it will sit on the rear parcel shelf.

I want to find a means of (removably)attaching it to the Car cover so that it can sit securely in this position on the rear window rather than flat on the roof as I have it at the moment.

There are four holes on the case for screws that I suppose I could use for nuts n bolts/ washer fixing, but was hoping for something smarter. E.g. Long presstuds

Any ideas people?

Maybe one for the stupid question thread but.....1.6 hdi, do I need to remove the timing belt before I can remove the rocker cover? I.e. is the rocker cover combined with the cam carrier?8a221cc013e1863f09df43ede25698b7.jpg

Hadn't thought of that, thanks both.

Off to look on eBay.......

Edit, just bought 1m of 50mm wide white ( didn't have grey) hook and loop for £4.32. Bargain.

I seem to be the high bidder on this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1964-Chevrolet-Corvair-Running-Barn-Find-Classic-Collector-Coupe-Car/292262191134?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1431.l2649

It seems a nice honest old thing and transport costs aren't quite as eye watering as I thought they would be.

Bodge of the day. Loose battery terminal so a bit of scrap copper wire wrapped around to make it a tighter fit then tapped on with a hammer and socket.

Can anyone recommend some decent quality terminals to repair it properly with? The cheap eBay ones are normally lousy.

No need to change it.

Take the bolt out and use a 1mm cutting disc in a grinder (or a hacksaw if you dont have one, its soft and cuts easy) and enlarge the slit. Refit the bolt and it will clamp perfectly. Its not clamping just now because the slit is closing up before its tight on the battery post.

Looks like a mighty fine repair as it is! Stronger than any ebay special clamps you'll buy

Put a hack saw through the slot repeatedly whilst it's closed to increase how much the terminal can clamp onto the post.

Ah yes not sure why I didn't realize that initially. I must have been in bodging mode or something lol.

I will break out the Dremel and fix it.

Looking at the state of it I wouldn't waste a good cambelt on it

Turbo went, mechanic fitted new turbo then started it at which point it sounded like it wanted to shake itself apart. He reckoned cam chain tensioner but advised me against going any further as his labour to diagnose it wouldnt be worth it.

So having decided to break it I thought no harm to have a look at the chain tensioner, after all my own labour is free.

They filled it with fresh oil after the turbo change - said the sump was near dry.....what you can see in the pic is oil which has consistency of treacle.....

Okay now Lexbarge, lets have a look at you and see what's wrong...post-19988-0-78070100-1506185113_thumb.jpg

That sound you've been making has worried me, let's hope it's just the belt needs adjusting.

Oh it's not? Let's take your engine tray off and look. Maybe it is the alternator is on it's ways out, I mean you do get wet a lot and even driven threw flood water.

It appears that my power steering pump does have a slight leak, and guess where it drips onto...

Fucking fantastic.

Camshafts are attached to the top plate, which forms the rocker cover. Timing belt and vacuum pump off unfortunately.

I'll find out tonight when I see him-his first real drive would be the 250 miles he is doing today (He drove it 30 odd miles yesterday). If good he has a bargain, if bad he has the room to break it or punt it on with probably no money lost.

Well he has done 500 odd miles in the last three days. Nice looking car with just a bit of paint needed at the front of rear wheel arches (which won't take much to sort).

It's got lots of extras for a 2002 car-factory Saab sat nav, vented, heated and electric front seats, heated rears, electric sunroof and xenon lights. Recently had new brake pads all round, and three almost new Pirelli's.

Only issues are the oil light has come on momentarily twice, and the airbag light has flicked on a few times. Couple of groaning sounds from the rear suspension and a loose exhaust mount somewhere.

An oil change and checking all connections under the seats and having a proper look underneath tomorrow may go someway to someway to sorting them.

And the autobox is perfect.

Went to Asda yesterday in the Royale. It has a dodgy solenoid so had to ask a friendly bloke to turn the key whilst I hit the solenoid. Looking for a new starter.

Because I'm a sad old man

Who's that? I'm looking on a phone so there is a possibility it's Pete Burns on keyboard.
