Gah, the rust hole in the rear door shut of the Mondeo auto looks to be a bit beyond my ability..

It looks like it's going back to plan A, i.e engine bummage and carcass disposal.

...although a panel for this bit is available for £25 odd delivered..... Hummm..

holy fuck!

Looking at others they all seem to have grot in that location...

The raffle w124 from chaseracer failed its MOT on a fog light not working and front brake imbalance. Had new 2 front discs and pads from GSF for £42 and one new bulb fitted and it passed. Yeeeehaaa!

Bugger me we've gone all a bit retro rides with all this engine swap stuff.

I'd leave it exactly as it is as that's the way it's always been. If you change the engine you might as well change the suspension, then change the body, or just buy another car

I now own a land yacht.

However, there is one small problem with it. Its location. It's currently on RantingYoof's driveway... in Northampton.

Expect a truly EPIC collection thread next Friday (4th March).

The rust on that Mondeo is nothing, seriously, a couple of hours with the MIG if that, especially if you've got the correct repair section and don't have to faff about making one. Anyone would think it was as rotten as KruJoe's Samara the way some of you are carrying on.

Today I pulled the cover off my mk1 fiesta ,It's been sat unused in my workshop since 2012.... The only battery i had was off a wheelchair but 12 v is 12v innit..gelcell or lead acid...

The engine started in 15 seconds  , no popping , misfire or anything !!!!  I'm going to get it road legal and sell it    for millions of Old Ford pounds   I think !

True, it looks a mess but a panel is available to fix it. Apart from that and the odd scab it's lovely. Drives nice too. I'd have to pay someone to weld it up for me though, My mig broke ages ago!

I don't intend to stick a zetec into the Minor anytime soon, so for the moment the Mondeo is sat on the Wife's grandmother's drive. (so burglars think someone is in)

As for going a bit RetroRides.... I'd tend to agree, but it's all just a bit of fun, innit? The Minor is getting disc brakes, telescopic shocks and a nice paintjob,

I now own TWO cars with a year of MOT on them.

The Audi just passed. Expect a for sale / roffle / whatever in the next couple of days. I'll give it a clean first, unless anybody wants it pre-muddied and pre-stickered.

I can only realistically keep one car at a time where I stay. On-street parking and all that jazz. Once the mystery land yacht has been collected next week, one car would need to be stored at the parents' farm 30 miles away until the Audi is sold, unless the Audi sells quickly!

I have spent the last few hours WAXING the dollop! I am now, officially, deceased!

While I was doing it, I had the windows open and the stereo playing Marillion.... came to start it and it was extremely touch and go as to whether it would or not - very slow turn over, a few ominous clicks and then the familiar roar of V8 powah!

It now looks like it is going to rain after being a sunny delight this AM.

Just got the Scimitars new brake calipers back from the refurbisher... I'm now just waiting for some bits of stainless to be made and some time to get them fitted :)

Seeing as neither the Prelude nor XM have sold yet, I've put the 2CV up for sale. Sad, but necessary times. Will have to postpone the Dyane's welding work until something actually sells.

Posted

In the nicest possible way, I hope no-one buys the 2CV.

I'd rather hope they do, or I'll become one of those numpties who says they'll restore it one day, until the entire thing has been utterly ruined.

Dug the Rolls out of it's winter slumber ready to hit the road again next month. New number plates fitted and hopefully I have got the choke working correctly again now. Other than that all should be ok for it's first long run back to Essex next month.

Does anyone live in/near Stafford? May have a Hoover I would like picking up, then shitelying down south/to SF16

I tried selling the 2CV, but the 2CV people won't let me do it, and have now suggested a crowdfunding scheme to get her back on the road. One pal has offered me £25 if he can take my wife out for fish and chips. It's the Autoshite version of Indecent Proposal.

Brilliant ! Tell him a that's fine as long as they bring fish and chips back for you too !
