I just bid and lost on a 320 clk on eBay . It's like escaping from jail then handing yourself back in once you'd made a clean getaway

I've got my eye on a jrg one just up the road now ffs. Stop hitting yourself , stop hitting yourself.

I've been pricing up a timing belt kit for the Xantia.  Ã‚£70 can't be right, surely?

Cheaper than the one I bought for the VW boring ... but double the price of the one for the Lancia.

I think the price varies depending on the tensioners in the kit.

If I get a belt and a tensioner separately it's about £40, which is more what I was expecting.  Not sure why the kit is £70.

Does it come with a water pump? I found I could get a timing belt and tensioner cheaper separately for my Volvo as well. Baffling.

I can't remember if there are idler pulleys on the XUD, don't think so, but there are none on the Volvo.

Seeing the Alto at the petrol station just reminded me that I had not uploaded a petrol station shot.

The car behind was a Maserati something or other being driven by what looked like a pre pubescent lad with his girlfriend of equally childish appearance.

Volksy may well recognise this garage as it is the exact same one I did not go just after I bought the Aldi Coupe a few years ago, as it looked busy as I drove past, .

Its the garage approx 5 miles away from where I ran out of fuel on the M62.

Sun was splitting the sky this morning, so I thought I'd go for a tootle in the X1/9. Got carried away and ended up near doing a lap of Scotland... Fife-Glendevon-Creiff-Lochearnhead-Tyndrum-Oban-Lochgilphead-Balloch-Fife. 310 miles!  Never missed a beat and roof off in the twisties was a joy, and much more expensive faster machinery was holding me up. You do tend to forget a 1979 car won't stop as quickly as a German Panzer without the turret though. The Goodyear GT80's let out a nice screech though and smelt lovley. All modern tyres are shite... :)

Only saw 2 other cars of interest, an old Montego estate, and a B reg XR2...

My mum has been moaning that her 25000 mile Fiesta 1.4 TDCi has been getting slower and slower recently so I said I'd take it home and service it for her, it hasn't been serviced since 2011 but it's only done 7000 miles, I still told her off for it though.

The filters where pretty bad to be fair and I had a right ball ache getting the old fuel filter out of its housing but got it off in the end. It seems to go a bit better now, especially after an Italian tune up, just needs it's first cambelt doing next.

I also went for a nice drive in the Mk1, I do enjoy driving this and the amount of attention it gets on the road. I need to sort the rocker cover gasket though as it's pissing oil out, I might upgrade to a rubber one from Burtons and see if that's any better.

Living in a pretty populated area is ruining cars for me. All I do is sit in traffic. However, I got out to Scarborough way last week and had a right laugh ragging Mrs Imps new Megane round all the country roads. Its pretty slow on the take up as like any modern car its a right fat bastard but the handling is fantastic, I bet the bigger engined ones are a right hoot.

I need to get me a car sorted for that sort of shizzle. Just heading out for the day like you and having a hoon around some good roads. I did it in the Lancia Fulvia a few years ago, amazingly Mrs Imp slept all the way back (or had her eyes closed because: FEAR) which was probably just as well as we had a few hairy moments but it made me love driving again.

LOL, there was hardy any traffic in most places, but I was getting annoyed at being held at 60, as the bikes sailed past. Stuff being a city dweller.

I believe these are one and the same. The roof unbolt as do the upper B posts and the the rear screen. It is insane.

I think you are right, every detail seems the same, even some of the windscreen stickers.

I should be really cracking on with what's in here. That Williams ain't getting on the road anytime soon.

Note: Santa socks.

But instead I am sitting in the garden drinking strongbow and reading about discoverys, even though I have just bought a Saab.

Drove the X1/9 down this morning- bit foggy North of Birmingham but otherwise no dramas and the car ran beautifully, esp. Considering that it went further today than the whole of the last 12 months.

I also fitted a cut off switch for the electric aerial as I did on the merc. so that I don't need the aerial erected when only the iPod is playing.

Just paste the link, no formatting or anything. Its them converts it to video up automatically. Only works for YouTube AFAIK so if you were wanting to show us some home made bongo films you would not be able to link to them from RedTube.

The Volvo's shocking lack of a towbar has been sorted. The rear chassis rails are quite rusty, but I keep forgetting it's an 18 year old car that's spent its lifetime in Scotland, most of it in the north - fixed* the rust with black Hammerite that was lying around.

OK here goes. This was actually last Friday.

Seems to work as well! Thanks for replies.

Speedo-driven wipers FTW. I've only driven a 'ripple' once, in a field. Must do it again some time.

I never want to drive one on the road again. Ever, ever, ever.
