Guest Hooli Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Is that 'the fairing'? looks bigger on a bike. plasticvandan 1
Popular Post trigger Posted January 28, 2018 Author Popular Post Posted January 28, 2018 Between throwing up from a hang over and children poohing their nappies i managed to pull the van out for the first time since i bought it this afternoon and got my proper camera out for some photos, i still desperately want to find a set of centre caps and nut covers and the rear still needs to be ply lined and carpeted and it's mostly there now. Just a shame the colour match isn't 100% but considering its aerosol cans i bought of the internet i shouldn't complain, i make no apologies for all the photos! Guest Hooli Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 It's bloody fantastic Trigster, I honestly can't see the colour mismatch in the pics. trigger 1
Parky Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Next time someone at work asks me to define a winner, I'm going to say "Triggers 1984 Ital van" chaseracer, trigger, Brodders and 1 other 4

BorniteIdentity Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 All part of the charm Trig, looks great. Agreed. If it was too good, you'd have people telling you that you'd ruined it. Ask me how I know. Good luck with the MOT. I'm sure you'll be grand. DeeJay, adw1977 and trigger 3
wuvvum Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Shiny! Love it, and proper impressed by how quickly you've got it sorted, especially given the sprog situation. Mrs Trig must be a saint! eddyramrod, trigger and mk2_craig 3

trigger Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 Mrs Trig must be a saint! She very much is but in my defence with me in the garage it was easier to look after 2 children than 3... Exiled_Tat_Gatherer, alf892, mat_the_cat and 6 others 9
binhoker668 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Very very impressed Trigger. Great work! trigger 1
puddlethumper Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 I love car derived vans and that is effing brilliant Mr Trig. I'll have to make sure I don't park next to it. It makes mine look like it's waiting for a lift to a cube producer. trigger and tooSavvy 2

Arthur Foxhake Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 When I showed this to a mate at the beginning, he couldn't understand why you would get rid of the "other car" (Dolomite, he has no idea about cars) for what he saw as a tatty old shit box he wouldn't take away if you paid him and certainly wouldn't ever be seen driving. I showed him your progress today and asked him again, what he thought. He was positively shocked and didn't believe it was the same van.I assured him it was and showed him the during pics.He may be a philistine but he now accepts it is very nice and would definitely like to own such a thing.I am also very impressed at the speed and motivation of the project and the end result.Good work sir. eddyramrod, trigger and puddlethumper 3
trigger Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 That's a very kind thing to say, to be honest much of the motivation has come from this thread, peoples responses to it, good and bad (mostly what your mate said!) have just spured me to get on with it and prove what can be done with a bit of enthusiasm! I've got it insured today, RH was able to add it to my Rovers policy for £120 which was helpful so it's now all ready for Wednesday. Brodders, RobT, alf892 and 6 others 9
Hertz Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Well done! I love reading your threads on your personal restorations. It's like watching the first series of Wheeler Dealers, it's not perfection but just shows you how well you can improve a car with a lot of patience and hard work. trigger 1
Sigmund Fraud Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Brilliant work ! I wouldn't worry too much about the colour match, I reckon you could convince even the most pedantic rivet counter that the paint is 100% original... trigger and oldcars 2
greengartside Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Good luck for the MOT tomorrow, Triggarino! oldcars and trigger 2
coalnotdole Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 I've been a silent reader until now, but feel obilged to say how much I've enjoyed this thread. Good luck with the MOT. On my mate Dave's account I feel I should register an intetrest if you ever choose to sell it. It would be a real asset to the boatyard and its in the correct company colour! Cheers Joe. trigger, DeeJay and loserone 3
Popular Post trigger Posted January 31, 2018 Author Popular Post Posted January 31, 2018 Today was D day or should that be MOT day? Either way it had its first drive on the Queen's highway since 1993. I was expecting the worst but amazing it drives extremely well, all the gears engaged nicely and there was no odd noises and is all quite civilised really although I must say it is extremely noisy and very bouncy! 2 minutes later I was at the MOT station where annoyingly the computer system was down so they were running behind, thankful the test went without hitch and I was awarded with this! That right, a clean pass! I couldn't believe it either! The rear brakes need a little balancing but that's all. I celebrated by taking a couple of photos and driving the longer way home! Tomorrow I'll get it taxed. cort16, DeeJay, greengartside and 64 others 67
dollywobbler Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Excellent! What a jolly thread (amongst many other jolly threads to be fair.) Good times. eddyramrod, oldcars, GrumpiusMaximus and 1 other 4
