My local factors used the 'book' last time I needed some previously unidentified brake parts and came up trumps.

I think even the 'book' has its limits...

A connector to fit the wiper blade. I managed to break it when removing the blade to refurbish it. The arm itself is flat, with a small round bit on it, so the clip slots on. Anyone got a spare?

 

 

what does the wire and "bit" look like? pics measurements please and I will have a search in my, "might come in useful one day box"

Is it one of the bayonet clasp adaptors you need, a bit like the one circled? If so, I may have one or two kicking around which I'd be delighted to donate to this worthy cause, provided they survived my shed cull last year...

 

 

When I worked for Halfrauds back in the good old days (don't judge, please) we kept a massive box of spare wiper adaptors under the parts desk, as most wipers came with about four different adaptors and whenever we fitted a set for a customer, the spare adaptors went into the box. We were always happy to give them out gratis to anyone who wanted them. Having said that, mostly their wiper packs seem to be car-specific these days... and I'm not sure they even have parts desks anymore.

Gosh we're close. I can feel it!

 

Having exhausted my supply of shit batteries, I hooked up the Nippa as Mrs DW conveniently came back at just the right moment. We've had many coughs, sometimes with exciting flame-outs through the carburettor! No actual running yet though. Still, it's encouraging. I reckon the ignition timing might benefit from a tweak. Retard a little?

Secondly, I really need to try and find out where the brake hydraulics are from. I'm hoping they're shared with the Reliant range, but it'd be nice to confirm that before ordering bits. The hydraulic system is very stiff, and generates no stopping power, so I need to go right through it really.

if you can get pics of the cyls/shoes etc,i should be able to tell if they are Reliant or not

I may have mentioned earlier , the local mobility scooter guy I had dealings with 7 or 8 years ago over something ...Well he was Invacar agent , he told me back then .  

 

Today I called in , but he was out , I had a chat with the chicks that work there    ... They knew all about Invacars   slidey doors and handlebars ..but they'd never heard of Dollywobbler       and yesterday there had been a meeting about getting rid of a lot of  obsolete mobility stock !!!!   

They doubted there was any invacar stuff , not even  a key, but I left my number, and they said he'd ring me when he was back ..   You'll never know if you don't ask eh? But it didn't look good..and i wasn't holding my breath even for a call back..

I expect that engine has been used in mowers,  microlights , golf buggys,generators farm machiney , etc not just invalid carriages....

Yes, but the exhaust system is bespoke to the Invacar. An Invalid Carriage Register contact should be able to help. Haflinger Technik have sent the engine parts I need. The engine itself, in exact same form, was used on Austria's licence-built Fiat 500s. The Haflinger uses a larger version, as did the bonkers 650TR, which had a Fiat 500 body with Steyr-Puch's enlarged flat twin, and 40bhp. Enough for Sobieslaw Zasada to win the European Rally Championship in 1966.

Here's the single-circuit master cylinder. Gee, that should be fun.

 

Rear brakes. There are barely legible characters there. Might be easier with more light... EDIT - I keep forgetting the Invacar has the wheel cylinder at the bottom. Back to the garage!

Junkman would have a verdict on it. That isn't the only place it's failed. The wire brush did a fair bit of damage, demonstrating how fragile it is.

As junkman says they look to be girling brakes. I have a photo of mine on my rialto thread. Might be worth a look. Do they have a square peg on the back to adjust the pads?

The three wheelers have a twin leading shoe set-up at the front (two brake cylinders).  The rears are leading and trailing (one brake cylinder).  The front and rear cylinders are different if I recall correctly.

Ah, ok. Not had the front apart yet, but I think the Invacars have identical brakes all-round - possible due to the much lighter front end I guess. Too much stopping power and it'd just lock-up...

Oh, another interesting point, the brake lines all look to be cupro-nickel. So that's nice.

All the signs are there to show those brakes have been very well maintained indeed. Fastidiously so, in fact.
