I'd say you had a lucky escape, there.

That's a flat roof pub!

If anyone had a lucky escape from that encounter of the fourth kind, I, in all modesty, suggest it's them.

The raison d'etre of our visit was thus:

One's LHD, the other's RHD.

Means me and Junkman can take separate cars on trips but still chat on dual carriageways.

Is it m.o.t.'d?

Not since 1847 apparently

Well that was a long day. Another 360 miles on the old Pug.

I don't like eating greasy fast food so I took some cereals and a bowl. I was earlier than the other two for the meeting so had my lunch in the most picturesque spot I could find locally.post-19511-0-76204500-1509348510_thumb.jpg

Then I went for a wander and found some Golfs growing in a greenhouse

Its been a couple of years since I have been to that part of the world and there are way less R16s than there were then. He must have had a clear out.

My car doesn't seem to have deteriorated at all in this time. I had a good look at it and wondered why on earth I'm selling it. I would much rather sell the Wolseley that I'm working on. I didn't want to waste Junkman's time but really hoped he didn't want it.

Put some PVA in the mix & bodge it...

I know how they'll do it. They'll clone the plates from the LHD 16. After all, the chances of another white Renault 16 being on the same roads at the same time are very slim. Oh. Hold on...

The only thing flat roofed pubs are good for is hiring hit men.

No time was wasted, although the time spent behind the 'Welcome to Lincolnshire' sign

sure didn't fail to chop a sizeable chunk off my life expectancy, as usual.

But I managed to see - and get a guided tour of! - the elusive R16 sanctuary of much in mystery shroudedness.

All things considered, we came to the gentlemen's agreement that the property situation in regards to Renault 16s

shall remain in its current state, so praising me as the hero I am clearly not must be deferred for a moment.

Recognise a few of them places :), can't have been too far from my mannor for some time at least.

I guess I should really have done a collection thread for the 307 I had off AMC Rebel at the weekend, but getting a lift in my old mans S Type an hour away to get in a car, drive off, and get home with no drama somehow didn't seem to be good forum material.

Aside from dads Jag throwing a Gearbox wobbly as we entered the road that the car was on (and then being fine all the way home) no drama was had.

I again take the liberty to explain that this turned out to be not a collection thread!

I still enjoyed myself, despite the lack of happy ending.

Like when you get a massage, but from one of the tight ones that wont do extras.

It was still good content.

Err.. So did DodgyTom own it, or did he sell it to someone who didn't want to sell it? The Focus decorated with excrement was easier to follow.

Was the poor ending foreshadowed in the thread title referring to the possibility of further R16 ownership or the expected lack of further R16 ownership?

DodgyTom is the owner of the white R16.

We agreed to meet at its current resting place in the county the name of which must not be mentioned to contemplate a potential sale.

However, DodgyTom and I had second thoughts and agreed to not follow through with it in a mutual agreement.

Both. One of them was seriously considered, the other unexpected.

I've been to Mablethorpe Junkman, many times, so can believe anything when it comes to Lincolnshite

Me too - I escaped as well. A truly frightening place with rare species. It's like a 1970's Doctor Who set.

So Mr Junkman, were you at the place of the R16 man in Spalding? I am told that there is such a fellow who has many of them and spares etc. Think he has a rather nice gold low mileage TX. Oddly enough there is another low mileage 16 residing in Spalding, a red TL with circa 8k on the clock. If you were there you were about seven miles from where I reside and you would have been welcome to come and have a beverage and even something to eat. Plus of course you could have had a tour of my model room if you had so desired. And I promise you would not have been murdered and buried in my back garden.
