If only the photos could convey the Rover smell this car has. L’eau d’longbridge. Magnificent.Β

Fine looking thing. Sure you will love it. Just make sure you do the cable bonnet release cable tie fix, as can cause issues if not done. Two minute job, can save a world of pain. Might have a spare R75 haynes if you want it. , will go andΒ have a look.

Gosh that looks posh!Β

Is the beige on the interior the same shade of beige as the paint?Β

Just got back to Dartmoor. Had a fantastic trip back in a lovely old rover 75. Was great to meet you again @CookiesouwestΒ , a true gent as always, thanks.

It’s more of an old English white than cream, although those pics at lunchtime to make it look quite custard creamy!

that *is* the colour. It's my favourite for 75s. Best interior too.Β

So which is your favourite?

At the moment, the white saloon. I’m not a big fan of the manual on the cdti estate; this auto seems to suit it more, and this saloon feels faster. It’sΒ had some love in the r75 trouble spots, thanks to @Tubbo, Β @montytomΒ and of course @CookiesouwestΒ it has lived on as a going concern rather than being a number of listingsΒ in the e bay parts section.Β

I really like it, thanks to them it’s still about, and was the class of the field on the westbound a303 this afternoon!

Called Arran white for cars sold in Scotland.

Yes I kid you not πŸ™„

Looks fantastic, as you say it's got some 'famous'Β issues sorted out and you don't have to worry about a clutch, which are never the same againΒ after the original slave fails.

I hope you enjoy it.

Did a littleΒ bit of dash / centre console reassembly and finding homes for screws and blanking plugs (having another car is a handy reference)Β

And time for a quick fleet shotΒ

So life with the city rover ( cityrover?) has been pleasant Β and uneventful. I have used Β it mainly for local trips and it’s fun to dart about in. It’s got quite a high seating position so the glass house extends further down than on most cars, presumably an ncap own goal but light and airyΒ and with good visibility.Β

A storm gatheringΒ on the horizon? Metaphor for mg rover etc etcΒ

There’s a wierd bit of curiosity value in it as after all the illustrious history before it it was (afaik) the last new model introduced before things became terminal. Β I’m hardly likely to start a β€œ53 plate city rover survivors β€œ Β thread but it is an earlier one from the launch month.

Im unsure how long I’ll keep it but it’s very useful to have around and has plenty of like left in it with just 25k on the clock

Where to begin?Β

I’ve always liked them, even as a small child. Plus there’s that noise. Mind you the few where I grew up were rotting on drivewaysΒ , as cast off daily drivers waiting to be scrapped. At university in Leeds there were about 5 that were used by students, including a girl i unsuccessfully tried to chat up, who had a peat brown one.

I had a few once I was able to run a car. Always fun, and over time the good and notΒ so good ones informed be of my idealΒ age and spec, and in particular where they like to dissolve.

So I like the 4 doors. I like the later engines, but I also like clap hands wipers and if possible an original old style reg. SO unless it’s a modded one, your looking about 62-64ish. Moon on a stick.

Anyway one came up in Cornwall, in basically my ideal spec. It’s a β€˜63 and a deluxe - I think- as it has a heater (!) The luxury!Β
Β

Anyway here it is; I bought it off a lovely elderly couple who took a shine to me as their son and I share the same first name…
