HMC Posted August 6, 2019 Author Posted August 6, 2019 Meanwhile I got a bit bored of the 2005 golf mk5 GTI ; sold it. I decided to return to my core values of buying crates that big bits of society would not consider owning, or possibly even travelling in..... brownnova, Six-cylinder, Iamgroot and 21 others 24
wuvvum Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 I got all excited when I saw that first pic - I thought you'd bought a Horsey Horseless. The Moog, stripped fred, HMC and 3 others 4 2
RobT Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 Mega LoLz at the horse tow ball sheath! Calendar material surely. HMC 1
Shirley Knott Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 Nice, another 940 in the ranks! Pretty sure I spotted the advert for this one where the seller said that he'd bought it for a friend some years ago, described it as "Filthy" and also said things like "Don't bother coming back moaning after you've bought it"? Deepest apologies if I have this wrong... HMC 1
HMC Posted August 6, 2019 Author Posted August 6, 2019 No that’s the car. No nonsense ad! Could have said the clutch bites near the top of its travel (but doesn’t slip) but overall I’m pleased. Shirley Knott 1
Shirley Knott Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 Knew I recognised it. The LPT 2.3 is a great engine, loads of torque low down, a great comfy cruiser with plenty of grunt. I swear mine sometimes feels like driving a turbo diesel but without the racket.
Broadsword Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 Great buy! That is quite a strange number plate on it.
montytom Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 Can these mg expresses be driven on car insurance or do you need van insurance on them?

montytom Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 Thanks I have been looking for an express van for a long time. My intention was to buy a trophy blue 160 express. I really have to think about this. Thanks again
HMC Posted August 7, 2019 Author Posted August 7, 2019 The Mg van had the cam belt done 2 years/ 15k ago and the aux belt and a new windscreen in the last couple of months. It had been a daily driver for the last 2 years with no FTPs. Jim Bell 1
New POD Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 (edited) I'm struggling to think of any business that would see a van that size as a great Investment. Which explains the rarity. It would be great to know what sort of businesses parted with cash. Edited August 7, 2019 by New POD Edited to say I like it.

I could be wrong but I reckon there must be (or was) some sort of tax dodge by buying a vehicle that is technically a commercial vehicle, especially if you need staff to move between work sites (maybe with paperwork or smaller portable tools/items) that makes buying a normal car less attractive.
Kiltox Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Flat rate van BIK for personal use, innit. Same reason loads of IT contractors tool about in Ford Rangers 83C and BorniteIdentity 2
83C Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Thanks for confirming that. Worth bearing in mind.... As for this ZR, would love to buy it (and there is space now the Frontera has gone) but I need something much bigger for house move. Can't see the ZR coping well with a king size bed sadly.

Flat4 Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 Oh stop it!!! I actually really like that wee thing but I have absolutely no use for it and it probably couldn't be any further from me if I tried.... Ohdearme 1
wuvvum Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 FFS. How soon do you need it gone? Coprolalia, Brodders, loserone and 2 others 5
busmansholiday Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 FFS, why do things like this turn up when you're no spare cash, no space on the drive, or even worse, no good reason to nip down to your place in Torbay....
montytom Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 HI MATT how long could you hold with a deposit? Thanks Thomas pm me if you wish
