Bugger.

I would have had the Xantia. Mine has just failed the mot badly and although Mrs despairs never usually says no to what I drive, she has said that his and hers matching red Citroens is a bit too sad, even for us so I won't bother doing the retest work.

Too late!

^^ Never mind, you could have a lovely blue BMW Touring instead ;)

If the Merc was sorted and sold I'd have that Renault off you in a heartbeat

I also fancied the Xantia although 500 miles away would've been too far for me anyway!

4 minutes to sell a car. This place etc....

I have some 4x100 alloys that would suit that 19 nicely - available free to the buyer if they want them. In Bristol.

Sorry to HMC, but hopefully good news to someone else.. I have to pull out of buying the Xantia.

My classic insurance says NO. Normal insurance is crazy for me (circa £1200!!!) because no "no claims" and Beruit.

I thought I was safe saying yes because they'd previously quoted me, however "that was at a different address".. Bastards.

I hate giving people the mess around. Soz.

I think I'm second or third in line but dibs on the Xantia please!

Took my sole transportation off to get a pizza. It’s low but avoids the scene lowness where even raised manhole covers are a sump ending experience. The nec trip has prompted further sound deadening and- given that the standard air filter box is supposed to be a good one anyway- and it’s a lot quieter- I’ve got a second hand one coming off e bay to replace the aftermarket one. Loud induction noise on a 4 cyl diesel is just LOUD and DRONING; Something the Lseries diesel excells at anyway. With a 1200mile + germany trip next month i thought I owed it to my ears.

The Rover 45 (and the rest of mg rover) nearly ended up being a Chinese takeaway. Things could have been different. As it is, this Rover 45 is collecting a Chinese takeaway. The replacement standard air box makes the car sooo much quieter

You can get a K&N panel filter for the original air box which would allow better airflow without any additional drone.  They aren't particularly cheap though mind, and would probably only net you a couple of extra horsepower anyway.

I had a K&N cone on the 45 V6. It made sod all difference.

Off to Germany for Christmas today with the kids and my divorce-in-progress wife to spend it with my in-laws. It’s been planned for ages and wasn’t possible to unplan. Taking my current sole transport - an L322 Range Rover TD6. Yes I have European break down cover.

That sounds like shitloads of fun and harmony.

It's only advancing the typical boxing day conditions by a few days.

Safe trip HMC - if you need anything Brussels way - just shout - 00 THREE TWO - FOUR 76 06 88 30   - same goes for anyone travelling by - or flying from Brussels or Charleroi...… open doors as always.

Frohest fest! Hertzlichen Gluckwunsch …….und und und…….. (spellcheck not bothered with)

Thanks for your well wishes! Yes made it there. The Range Rover did well, haven’t stopped listening out for scary noises, but it averaged just shy of 30mpg over the trip, and over a 20 minute stretch at an indicated 110mph (not flat out but probably not far off) it averaged 16 MPG for just that bit!

Considering the circumstances, everyone is being nice too, I must admit for a second I identified with Teresa May on one of her Brussels trips but thankfully I needn’t have worried.

Merry Christmas shiters!
