If not, I likely have a spare ECU for it. ive actually got a full cruise kit, but I’m saving it for Chris 1.8 GL…… because I know how much he wants that Gl to be more practical I havent tested it yet, will let you know After putting some fuel in i noticed a weep from the seam on the tank where the tow bar electrics had been tucked and allowed mud to accumulate. I cleaned the area up and had a go with some epoxy type repair paste which has helped a bit. I think unfortunately the rot at the seams extends so far a new tank is needed. Luckily they are available aftermarket and ive got a new one on the way for just over £100. Datsuncog, Brigsy, RoadworkUK and 26 others 29
ianbmw Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Ooooo and it’s not actually a bad job to do, but they usually do go……and fuel is expensive!

HMC Posted March 15 Author Posted March 15 Remember my poorly minor? cooling system woes with pressurisation but i didn't feel it was the headgasket…. Looking at the history theres an invoice where this came up a couple of years ago (when the car was last used i recon) where the the head was pronounced ok but the rad was replaced. Doesnt look like the ‘stat was… Result? Its sorted it. Presumably it was totally blocked, which was consistent with the top of the rad staying cool. Happy days, Although i might just give the lot a good flush out when i have time. LightBulbFun, chodweaver, Hertz and 45 others 45 1 2

Looks like they used the wrong sort of anti-freeze, which has reacted and formed the gel. Probably worth doing the bypass hose, removing the water pump in the process so you can clean out the rest of the water ways, if you haven’t already. Zelandeth Posted March 15 Posted March 15 That looks like a pretty classic example of what happens when you mix coolant types. Either that or it has been left sitting for decades and the water has evaporated just leaving the solids behind. My money is on the former though. It would be well worth thoroughly reverse flushing the whole system as there absolutely will be more of it in there. Brigsy, Momentary Lapse Of Reason, Westbay and 2 others 1 4
HMC Posted March 15 Author Posted March 15 This Little morris came with a massive stack of history- right back to the purchase invoice, warranty card, books etc… As you can see, it originally had the plate 504TD ; which proved hard ro resist in 1988 and was transferred off it and then in 1999 it was put onto a more appropriate number for its age So its had 3 different registration numbers. @LightBulbFun Mrs6C, LightBulbFun, PicantoJon and 17 others 20

It does look like different coolant types have been mixed and reacted forming the crystal like gel. It can corrode soft metals if it’s left long enough too (like ally castings and even solder used in old radiators etc). If that’s what’s visible where it’s got stuck against the thermostat there’s most probably more still in the system. Radiators and heater matrix are favourites for getting clogged with it! I had a similar issue with my Capri when I got it running again. The Thermostat got plugged up pretty soon after getting it running. It was full of whitish scale and sandy crud though which I think was just from the inside of the engine building up over the years. When the engine was stored it was drained and left dry which loosened it all. Then when I refilled it and ran it again it all just got washed around the system until something blocked it - the thermostat!

wuvvum Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Don't think I've ever seen a non-split-screen Minor with no indicators before.

My 1960 948 Traveller originally had no Indicators, only Trafficators. A PO had tried to wire up a Lucas DB10 (flashes Brake Lights as Indicators) and failed. Then they had fitted rear Indicators,( at OCD triggering slightly different heights). Mucking about, I temporally wired up the Indicators and Trafficators off a H/D flasher unit so the Indicators flashed and the Trafficators flapped up and down in time. (Yes, I was bored). Morris Minors had Trafficators (no Indicators) till about August 1961 Split Screens ended in 1956. Edited March 15 by Momentary Lapse Of Reason spelllink chodweaver, Matty, Yoss and 1 other 4
