captain_70s Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 11/10 Top wartime motoring. timolloyd, HMC and AMC Rebel 3
gadgetgricey Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 That is stunning.Taken it out for a drive yet? Edit, just realised that its facing t'other way in pics so its been for a spin, or pushed and pulled on the driveway. AMC Rebel and HMC 2
Exiled_Tat_Gatherer Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 I do love war/pre war motors - never had the chance to drive one though. That is a stunner....... lovely looking and has that 'just right' look about it. Well played chief HMC 1
RobT Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 Absolutely lovely. I hope it comes with loads of history, not all of it brass plaque! Angrydicky, HMC, AMC Rebel and 1 other 4
Squire_Dawson Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 What a charming little car, just like its bigger siblings but scaled down. And quite well equipped too, not like your usual cheap economy models. There is a good book called 'Coleman's Drive', he drove his Austin 7 Chummy through South America and across the Andes to the USA, the book gives an account of his epic journey. gadgetgricey, RobT and HMC 3

RobT Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 Excellent. That sort of stuff could have easily been chucked out when the giffer owner passed on, so good to see some of it survived.
timolloyd Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 Nice Grandad tow car photo bombing the 90s rescue NorfolkNWeigh 1
HMC Posted July 13, 2018 Author Posted July 13, 2018 Yes- the Granada is registered -DL which fits (or is an unusual coincidence) as the last keeper change was in 1971 prior to it coming off the road in 1973 was to an address on the Isle of Wight.
HMC Posted July 13, 2018 Author Posted July 13, 2018 Well this has gone down well with HMC_jrs Their mum is not quite as keen. I've just popped to the Indian in it. Chucking it around a roundabout at not many mph made me feel like I was taking mulsanne corner in a pre war 24hr race. All at 20mph tops! gadgetgricey, chaseracer, wuvvum and 32 others 35
dave j Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 I drove past this today, so I know where you live! I always look at the cars on your neighbours drive and recognised this one straight away! HMC 1
HMC Posted July 16, 2018 Author Posted July 16, 2018 Chucked a low bid on this whilst drunk watching the footy yesterday. One family from new, doesn't look too battered. Hopefully it won't leak like a seive nor have knackered front suspension and door locks made of cheese like my last one. It does however have the TDI PD 130 lump which many rate as a high water mark in VAG dizzlers. My lowball offer was accepted, to my suprise. A Seasoned shiter and collectionist has kindly agreed to retrieve it for me from the midlands. It's quite well specd with leather, factory sat nav, headlamp washers, sunroof etc, all extra cost kit. The listing also mentions a "solar panel" on the roof. Was that a factory option or is he talking tosh? clayts450, holbeck, CGSB and 8 others 11
SiC Posted July 16, 2018 Posted July 16, 2018 Well bought. A much nicer and better appliance than the equivalent aged Vectra washing machine. HMC 1
dave j Posted July 16, 2018 Posted July 16, 2018 It's built into the sunroof glass, pretty rare option I think! Sounds a well specced motor, I do like B5.5 Passats and nearly bought another this year but I was being too specific about colour and trim level. oldcars and HMC 2
BorniteIdentity Posted July 16, 2018 Posted July 16, 2018 For me, this is absolutely the Passat to have. Right mark, right motor, right colour. When you come to sell it for £2.67 tomorrow lunchtime, please let me know. Ps. Good to see you’ve got your mojo back. oldcars, egg and HMC 3
Lacquer Peel Posted July 16, 2018 Posted July 16, 2018 Poor man's B5 110 TDI. They're still good looking cars, especially the estates. The last longitudinal engine FWD VW. HMC and Jim Bell 2
320touring Posted July 16, 2018 Posted July 16, 2018 That looks a decent one. Clean enough. Just keep her serviced and make sure the fuel filter is sound. Joy of multiple wishbone front suspension too:) DVee8, HMC and chaseracer 3

My Golf platform Bora handles like a fucking boat, and it has recent shocks, they really do feel 20 years old compared to more modern stuff, it feels broken driven back to back with my mates mk1 Focus, the PD130's are good though HMC 1
gadgetgricey Posted July 16, 2018 Posted July 16, 2018 Looks great. Ask them to include the flip flops HMC 1
Bucketeer Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 The girlfriend's son came back from school with some cardboard cut out and glue cars. This one caught my eye. The Moog, sporty-shite, trigger and 6 others 9

The Bora handles okay but it's no 306 or Focus.
HMC Posted July 21, 2018 Author Posted July 21, 2018 Next door neighbour Steve bought a jag mk x (or is it a 420g I forget) years ago and gradually it's been buried by other cars and parts. Today it was dug out of its tomb and is due to be recomissioned. Brake overhaul/ upgrade in progress..... egg, Skizzer, Ohdearme and 13 others 16
