trigger Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 That's lovely! The colour really suits it too. I'm quite envious!

LightBulbFun Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 what a Lovely buy! I would love to have a proper go in any variant! or anything from/originating from the 1970s or earlier really! (preferably manual)
HMC Posted May 16, 2020 Author Posted May 16, 2020 All cleaned up by the vendor and ready for the transport guy. Collection this pm and delivery to HMC towers tomorrow. Better get a trilby? PhilA, Sigmund Fraud, wuvvum and 30 others 32 1
BorniteIdentity Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 That’s fantastic. I’m very very jealous. LightBulbFun and HMC 2
RayMK Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 Beautiful colour as well. Nice one! LightBulbFun and HMC 1 1
HMC Posted May 16, 2020 Author Posted May 16, 2020 I seem to have a relatively tech savvy vendor and subsequently the shiply transport person who are both fond of sending me photos. It must be the knockout styling that’s encouraging it. Shite Ron, RayMK, Marm Toastsmith and 8 others 11
HMC Posted May 16, 2020 Author Posted May 16, 2020 I’ve spent a long time looking and that grille and I’m just not quite sure what went on there. Quaaludes? It was the 70s after all. tooSavvy, Skizzer and spartacus 2 1

somewhatfoolish Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 Bob No.1 "We've got all these spare VdP 1100 grilles and pickernick tables left over; What shall we do with them boss?" Basil Exposition "Which do they fit the least badly; the Marina or the Allegro?" Bob No.1 "errr..."
HMC Posted May 16, 2020 Author Posted May 16, 2020 The fact they tooled up for a new bonnet panel though. Quaaludes. Skizzer 1
SiC Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 My father-in-law loves these and really wants one. I've always thought they look a bit tragic. Top chodding!
BorniteIdentity Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 I do too. Quintessential Autoshite. I think my fondness of them comes from the fact they tried to make it better, and just ended up making the whole situation 10x worse. A parable that eloquently sums up my entire life. Want. davocano, Amishtat and tooSavvy 1 2
HMC Posted May 16, 2020 Author Posted May 16, 2020 As alluded to on news 24 I have also had a crisis over another car. One which the esteemed LJK Setright had to say this of in 1980.... “That appallingly unlovely and deservedly unlamented little saloon” Soz Len paulplom, Amishtat, Sigmund Fraud and 39 others 42
jumpingjehovahs Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 It's quite the fleet you're pulling together, that A30 is an absolutely lovely little thing. LightBulbFun and HMC 1 1
SiC Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 Neat. Always fancied a go in one of them. They now sell for a bit too much for impulse buy for me though. LightBulbFun 1
LightBulbFun Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 as mentioned in the news 24 thread, your on one hell of a roll! would love to have a go in something like it! im properly curious to know what such a car is like to drive! HMC 1
Marm Toastsmith Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 Bloody hell man, have you been diagnosed with something terminal? When are they both arriving? Would love to come and have a sniff...I’ve been fantasising about dallying an a30 (or a35) for a while now... HMC 1
BorniteIdentity Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 You need to buy an Astra GTC with some rimz and questionable service history to restore equilibrium - and quickly. Cookiesouwest and HMC 2
anonymous user Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 I love A30s and A35s. Don't expect the brakes to be very efficient (unless they have been upgraded) even when properly set up they are marginal by today's standards. I always prefer the two door version. The doors are so small on the four door it's difficult to get in the front or back. HMC 1
spartacus Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 Corr, you're having a week to end all weeks, that's fab!
bramz7 Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 I was looking forward to updating my fleet thread at some point but I guess there is no point now. Cheers for the setting the benchmark so high! Marm Toastsmith, LightBulbFun, jumpingjehovahs and 2 others 5

somewhatfoolish Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 Fit your baby Austin with crossply tyres and imagine you're James Hunt. HMC 1
gadgetgricey Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 I just want to see the A30 parked next to the S500. I bet its doesn't even reach the B pillar. Skizzer, HMC, adw1977 and 1 other 1 3

wuvvum Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 I've never driven an A30. I've driven a few A35s though - my two and Angrydicky's - and found them quite enjoyable. And I'd imagine performance isn't a prime consideration if you're going to just be bimbling around Dartmoor. HMC and LightBulbFun 2
HMC Posted May 16, 2020 Author Posted May 16, 2020 Deffo; at best 28bhp, and nature’s own in built mental speed governor. No seat belts. Marm Toastsmith 1
wuvvum Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 I had an indicated 80mph out of my first A35 on the Norwich bypass once, and that had no seatbelts. Mind you I was younger and (even) stupider then. BL Bloke, Skizzer and LightBulbFun 3
