That digital climate control is ace. Far better than the awful manual one my earlier example had.

Even lovelier day for wafting home in style. Well done that man, you've just saved me nine quid!

Back! First things first

Starving!

Rover brilliant, drives spot on, keyword: WAFT. Really tired but it was such a comfortable thing to travel back in. That’s something that new price lists just don’t feature, a cheap, yet uplifting car that’s designed first and foremost to be comfortable and relaxing rather than to tear up the Nurburgring.

Relax. It’s a Rover.

Cheers everyone! (Bramz especially)

Glad you got back! Knew it would be fine.

Wondering if I did the right thing selling....how very normal of me.

Excellent.

Oddly enough I saw one of these in Camden at almost the same moment you bought this. At the time I was on my way back from the same stretch of Devon coastline photographed above. Yours was for sale when I left, and sold when I arrived.

I like these funny little coincidences.

Again. Bangin’.

What are these like against a 75? It was these (in Sterling flavour) that peaked my initial interest in cars designed for men of senior years.

Good work.

That Tomcat you spotted has never moved in the last 15 months I’ve been commuting on that road.

It was on or near “hermit hill” I remember as I was cursing a lot as I was climbing it (slowly)

Did I read a headline today that you cannot curse in public/ fine if so? Whoops

Posted

Lush. How did you shrink your bicycle to fit in the Rover of many wafts, or was it a swapsie?

Hill out of Burghfield towards Burghfield Common, it’s a steep one on a bike so I take my hat off to you. Don’t know about the swearing thing but as I never see many pedestrians there I reckon you’re alright.

I checked before planning it, but 800 saloons as well as hatches have split folding rear seats. Still had to take the front wheel off mind, as the aperture narrows between the wheelarches.

Anyone want a merc e240 estate?

It’s giffer owned from new, pretty much full service history, 3 keys, mot to- end nov 19, good tyres all round.

Drives great, 98k on the clock. It’s the lowest mileage merc I’ve owned. Drives spot on, but there’s a slight, occasional clunk from the near side front- it’s barely noticeable, assume it wants a bush. The rear spheres are still fine so it has actual bump absorption at the rear. You’ll be surprised how many people seem to merrily go round with borked spheres and shite ride quality, none of that here. It’s an elegance so it has a comfort set up and it sits and tracks arrow straight down the motorway. Gearbox works as intended. interior is excellent, electric memory front seats and steering column adjust, leather, cruise, no warning lights, Mb placca boot liner.

Typically it’s the body that lets it down. Rust to all arches, giffer parking scrapes to the bumper ends and some Surface rust to the rear underbody at the back end that wants wire brushing and painting before winter fo sure.

As said, huge service history, all books, 3 keys. It’s had an easy life. Located Tavistock and id like £300

Despite the one I had having fuel pump failure, I would happily have another.

That's a proper bargain surely? Had to convince myself not to message you about it.

Posted

At least this one is not a diesel so no fuel pump/injector stuff to spoil the budget Benz party.

Posted

This is also more wafty as the other one was a sportier “avantgarde” whereas this is the grandad spec one, which I think I prefer.

Posted

Comes with the original brochure and options booklet. Nearly 4 grand on list, one of which was for his and her electric Memory seat and steering column. I would have deffo had heated front seats- seems a bargain at £300 by comparison

I’d have had this if the E39 I’ve just bought hadn’t come up. My Nan still has hers, owned almost from new and still less than 45,000 on the clock.
